post At World's End challenge - the writing begins
Sorry that I'm a day late with this. Exams were being bad.
Here is the list of challenges for the post At World's End challenge. Thanks to everyone who submitted their ideas.
one word prompts:
- over
- steel
- hour
- sand
- surf
- fathom
- albatross
- port
- color
- moon
- bucket
- flight
sentence prompts:
- "Maybe 'used to be' isn't such a bad thing."
- It was rather not what he expected--death.
- "I shot an albatross."
- "Water, water, everywhere, nor any drop to drink."
- "Explaination for lack of disipline on this vessal."
- "I'd like to be under the sea. (Octopus's Garden)"
- "And all this without a drop of rum."
plot prompts:
- James wakes up half in water, half on shore. A small grey crab is near his head, looking at him in a way that can only be described as quizzical. There is a hole in his shirt and a raw, red scar on his chest, but his heart is definitely beating and present. He has absolutely no idea where he is. (no slash, no Elizabeth. A cat-- a counterpoint to the ubiquitous pirate dog.)
- Someone mourns James Norrington (a friend, lover, relative, Elizabeth...)
- The Odyssey by Homer (Book 1, Lines 1-6)
- “Sing to me of the man, Muse, the man of twists and turns driven time and again off course, once he had plundered the hallowed heights of Troy . Many cities of men he saw and learned their minds, may pains he suffered, heartsick on the open sea, fighting to save his life and bring his comrades home.”
- "I wanted to be your husband, in the truest and holiest sense of the word. I knew this the very moment I saw you in your sixteenth year. And before we were even able to get to know one another, you declared yourself affianced to young Turner, and my heart stopped beating... until now." - James to Elizabeth (Fixit fic where James escapes from the Dutchman to Sao Feng/Elizabeth's ship. One-shot or about six chapters to outline the plot. Rating: PG-13 to strong R. Honest fleshing-out of emotional turmoil between James and Elizabeth. Friendship leading to romance would be okay.)
- Norrington avoids skewering and works to bring Beckett down from the inside.
- Will, as the captain of the Flying Dutchman comes across Norrington's boat as he is traveling to the afterlife.
Please remember, fics must be at least 500 words long. The deadline is the 28th July 2007.

Are we limited to just one? And do we have to delcare which ones? Because there are several that are most intriguing.
