live reactions: cuba vs. us, wcq
Okay, so I won't be here, I'll be recording the game, I don't think [info]blumenfeuer will be watching either, but here's a LR post in case anyone wants one. I think I'm going to wear my brand new away jersey during the day, so I'll be there in spirit.

There are a ton of pictures up on the site from training/arrival.

Pre-match report

The game is at 8 PM ET on ESPN Classic and Galavision.

I have never heard of this team... but then again, i don't do Bundesliga

US midfielder Bradley signs with Moenchengladbach

MOENCHENGLADBACH, Germany
:
Borussia Moenchengladbach signed United States midfielder Michael Bradley from Dutch club SC Heerenveen to a four-year contract on Monday.

The deal was completed when Bradley passed his medical exam. He briefly spoke to reporters before flying to join the U.S. team, which plays at Cuba in a World Cup qualifier Saturday.

"Borussia is a club with a great history and great fans," Bradley said on the Bundesliga club's Web site.

Bradley also spoke to the team's Canadian striker, Rob Friend, who also played for Heerenveen.

"I asked Rob lots of questions about the players, the fans and the club as a whole and I only got positive answers," he said.

The 21-year-old Bradley, the son of U.S. national team coach Bob Bradley, scored 15 goals in 33 Dutch league appearances last season.

"Michael's an accomplished passer of the ball and an excellent linkup player who also does a lot of running off the ball. He's also a threat with shots from outside the penalty area," Borussia coach Jos Luhukay said.

Bradley has played 22 games for the U.S. national team.

After playing Cuba, the Americans meet Trinidad and Tobago four days later.

I'm not really too sure how I feel about this..... I was so looking forward to him staying at Herenveen or moving to EPL (my pref.) Oh well, at least he's getting experience...... he BETTER PLAY!

I prefer Marc Burch, but still...
Apparently DC United's Devon McTavish is desperate for a date. Really, really desperate. And is way too liberal with the word "hipster". However, also adorable.

Even Bob is not immune to Boca's charms. XD

On a more serious note, the US plays Guatemala tonight at 10 PM ET live on ESPN2 and Galavision. It's a world cup qualifier so obviously it's important. Everyone should watch it. There are LRs in the post before this one. Participate in them. Even if I might not be there. It'll still be awesome.

And the WNT are going for the gold medal tomorrow morning.

Also, there is now an "lol" tag. Please use accordingly. XD

Oguchi Onyewu scored two goals off corner kicks as Standard Liège beat Anderlecht to win the Belgian Super Cup on Saturday. You can watch Gooch's goals here

a few more pictures- seriously, every team should have as many match photos as Standard Liege do, there were at least 50, and good quality, too! )

In the English Championship, Reading tied Nottingham Forest 0-0, Marcus Hahnemann and Bobby Convey both playing the full 90 minutes.

Nice to see Bobby back in action again. :)

Jay DeMerit played the full 90 as Watford drew 0-0 with Crystal Palace.

Carlos Bocanegra got his career at Rennes off with a thriller as they tied Marseille 4-4. They came from behind twice.

Boca was excited.
