11:12 pm - Olympia Arts Walk now charging performers, businesses...

chaoscat
http://www.olympiawa.gov/~/media/Files/Parks/SpecialEvents/Arts%20Walk%20Registration.ashx

So when did Olympia start charging performers, artists, and businesses? We performed in April and did not get charged. The lady whose contact information is on the registration is on vacation according to her voicemail.

This really bothers me, as I've _never_ heard of Arts Walk charging money. It's supposed to be a _free_ event for the public.

I doubt we're going to be able to do a fire show like we did in April, because now it will cost us $10 PER performer, on top of our supply costs (upwards of $100 per show for fuel, tools, etc).

My photos alone will be costing me around $75 just to get them printed up. (That's one day's worth of work for me before taxes.)

I'm wondering what businesses downtown will be able to afford the $65 fee just to sponsor a performer or artist. :(

8:39 am - Cheap Manicurist on a Bus Line

katecrust
I never thought I'd say this, but I actually NEED a manicurist. My (lack of) wrist strength & pain level won't allow me to operate nail clippers. My fingernails are so long that I scratched my own leg (and drew blood) today. Anybody know of one? I need one on a bus line.

current mood: distressed

10:39 am - Free shoes!

katecrust
I need to get rid of a lot of shoes. Size 8 and 8.5 in women's. You would pick them up, but I am on a bus line (near the hospitals on Lilly Rd). There's athletic shoes, flip-flops, and dress shoes. Most of them are dirty or worn down, but they're FREE! Reply to this post if you're interested in taking a look.

6:31 pm - Looking for a room/roommate!
okyouwin Hi everybody

I'm Jessi and I'm new to Olympia. I moved here with my boyfriend and a lovely 5 year old cat about 2 months ago from the beautiful state of Wisconsin and I need to find a new place by August. I'm a responsible 22 year old female with a steady job and I'm looking for either a room or apartment to share that would be less than $400.

The boyfriend and I are getting separate places so it's just going to be me and the cat.

Anywhere in Olympia near a bus line would be fantastic. If you're interested or would like to know more about me, I'd love to hear from you.

email me anytime: jessicanicoletti@gmail.com

Thanksssss

6:50 pm - Looking for a roommate!

notasyouthink
Hey everyone! One of my roommates told me on short notice that they will be leaving at the end of this month, and so I need to find a roommate for the 1st of July ASAP! This is awesome news for whoever needs a place, because it's a great house with perfect people in it :)

Specs: The house is on Decatur St. on the Westside of Olympia, literally three blocks from Grocery Outlet, super close to downtown, and ONE BLOCK from the main bus route on Harrison with the 41 and 48 stopping every 15 minutes. PERFECT for a student.

There are three rooms, a large room and two smaller rooms, you would be renting one of the smaller rooms. There are two females living in the large room and one female (me!) in the other. It is a very nice environment, very laid back. Smoking only outside, no pets. There is a ton of storage space, a garage, washer and dryer, internet, all that fun stuff. Rent is $375 a month and bills are split equally each month. I am waiving the deposit fee because it is such short notice, sort of as an incentive. We are very cool, respectful, laid back, intelligent people and would like to find someone similar, student or not. Thank you for looking! If you are interested or have questions call me (Claire) at 360-441-7068 or email tehclairemeister@gmail.com

current mood: hopeful

8:05 pm - anyone like perfume?

mooz721
over the past 2 years ive bought a lot of fragrances that i no longer wear. they are genuine brand name perfumes that i got from macys, and looking back on it, i spent wayy too much money on something that i didn't even really use.
i did have a few sprits of each but there's still over 90% left in each bottle. you can look up the retail price of the bottle you want and compare it with the price i'm offering it for. it is a great deal considering it's more than 30% off the price i got it for. i'm not bargaining, the price is as is. if i don't get the asking price proposed, then i'd rather keep it.

DESEO by jennifer lopez, 1.7 oz
My asking price: $30
retail value: $49.50

ESTEE LAUDER Pleasures Delight 1.7 oz
My asking price: $30
retail value: $49.50

LIVE LUXE by jennifer lopex, 3.4 oz
My asking price: $40.00
retail value: $60.00

5:10 pm - Truck rental recommendations?

lady_door
I'm moving this weekend, and need to rent a truck (10-12 feet will probably do the trick). Any recommendations? I hear U-Haul is to be avoided; any suggestions of places that are actually good? Thanks!

3:49 pm - Gynecologist in Olympia, WA

amyakieran
Hi I'm looking for a gynecologist in the Olympia area. I'm having a few menstruation issues and am 23 years old. I'm looking for someone who is open to listen to the entire situation and be willing to work with me in the treatment plan (and someone open to alternative methods/herbs/that kind of stuff would be AMAZING!). I honestly have no preference for male or female just someone who isn't a complete meanie. I'm terrified as it is and if you can recommend someone who you've enjoyed working with, please pass their name along. you can email too malakairose at mac dot com. Thanks a bunch!

Sorry to cross-post.

3:47 pm - CSA Newb

nolan_ash
I've lived in Washington for 3 years now and always buy my produce at the Oly Farmer's Market when possible, but lately I'm seriously searching for a more regular way to get local produce and support local farmers.

I just learned the term "CSA" meaning "Community Supported Agriculture" and found some local CSAs that deliver to one's door or to specific pick-up sites. But I'm a total newb at these things and I'm still at a loss for where to try first. Does anyone have any recommendations for a local farm I can buy from direct, but with local pick-up or delivery to Olympia/Lacey?

Any suggestions of farms to try (or avoid) would be helpful! Links or advice about the process would also be a help. Produce doesn't need to be organic; local is what's most important to me. I cook with lots of fresh veggies and fruits, but I wouldn't be buying in bulk since it's just me and my partner.

Thanks in advance for your help!

current mood: grateful

Their last day is May 31. :(

Last night, the lady with the glasses (is it Lena?) that serves there said there's some talk of auctioning off the Clubside's stuff.
