| This is stupid |

Telemundo is quite possibly the worst station ever. This is the 2nd time they say they will show an Italy game, and fail to follow through. This is ridiculous. I emailed both Telemundo and NBC Olympics to see what going on. Who knows if they will ever answer back. |

| Quarterfinals |
[Aug. 20th, 2004|10:17 pm] |
The Quarterfainals of the Mens Olympic Football Tournament are tomorrow.
Mali vs. Italy
Iraq vs. Austalia
Argentina vs. Costa Rica
Paraguay vs. South Korea
Im still dissapointed and a bit shocked that Portugal didnt make it this far. And now with the bracets set up the way they are, its scary to see that Italy might face Argentina in the semifinals. Lets hope the Azzurri do well.
My Predictions for the Quarterfinal games:(be sure to comment on mine, and put in your own if youd like)
Italy 3 Mali 1
Iraq 3 Australia 2
Argentina 5 Costa Rica 1
South Korea 2 Paraguay 0
What do you all think?
Forza Italia!
Good Luck to everyone! |

Tunisia 3 Serbia and Montenegro 2
Mexico 3 Greece 2

Korea Republic is the Group A runner up.
Tunisia, Mexico, and Greece are eliminated.
Serbia and Japan were previously eliminated.
Todays games should be very exciting.

[Aug. 15th, 2004|09:29 pm] |
Iraq 2 Costa Rica 0
Portugal 2 Morocco 1
Ghana 2 Paraguay 1
Italy 3 Japan 2
I didnt get to see Italy. NBC and all of their networks suck. They have so many networks taking part in this, yet it seems that only NBC, CNBC, and Telemundo are the only ones that show coverage. I was planning on seeing the Italy game.....yet they show the same game in 2 languages?! Thats ridiculous. I would have watched the Italy game in Chinese Subtitles...i dont care, i just want to see it. But no, they tell me its gonna be on, and they end up putting the same game on 2 stations. ugh.
Well, we won, so i guess its not a total loss. Italy just needs 1 point in order to advance.
Japan is eliminated.
Portugal is now in good shape, despite the late moroccan goal.
Iraq continues to shock everyone, already booking a spot in the quarters.
Costa Rica looks horrible....There is no reason they should have lost that game, they had far too many chances, and blew them.
Paraguay also choked, I dont think they can beat Italy. They look toast.
Ghana is in very good shape. They only need a point to advance.
Morocco is in a boatload of trouble, I think Iraq will make short work of them.
Any thoughts? |

[Aug. 14th, 2004|11:19 pm] |
Argentina 2 Tunisia 0
Australia 5 Serbia and Montenegro 1
Korea Republic 1 Mexico 0
Mali 2 Greece 0
Argentina has clinched a spot in the medal round.
Serbia has been eliminated.
I am not impressed by Mexico....yet again. I am really surprised that Serbia has fared this poorly. Mali is a bit of a surprise. Greece and Tunisia do not look too impressive.
Forza Italia!
I hope Italy beats Japan tomorrow. |

[Aug. 12th, 2004|11:58 pm] |
I saw the Iraq-Portugal game.....it was one of the best games ive ever seen. I knew Iraq would be good, but idk about that good. That was amazing. 4-2 final..wow.
I also watched the Italy game, and dissapointed that we tied, but we will take the points where we can get them. 2-2 final.
Costa Rica and morocco tied 0-0... i didnt really watch it, it didnt look too exciting. Did anyone else watch it? how was it?
i saw the Paraguay-Japan game. Another very good game. Both teams played well. 4-3 paraguay final.
You kids can also post in here. This is a community for everyone. All are welcome to post, not just comment. But the comments have been plentiful as of late. The amount of people in here has also grown. Kepp it up guys.
Forza Azzurrini!!! |

| Games today |
[Aug. 11th, 2004|11:25 pm] |
Games that occured today:
Greece 2 South Korea 2
Argentina 6 Serbia and Montenegro 0
Mexico 0 Mali 0
Australia 1 Tunisia 1
I saw Mexico and Mali, and Argentina and Serbia. I thought the Mexico game was well played. I thought the Argentina and Serbia game was gonna be close like 3-2, or 2-1. Boy, was i wrong. I definitely underestimated Argentina. Aregentine fans, your team is amazing. If both my Italy and Argentina make it to the Final, that would be an amazing game.
But weve only seen half the teams.....tomorrow is gonna be sweet. |

| Predictions |
[Aug. 6th, 2004|12:58 pm] |
I made these predictions on June 9th. They are in my LJ then. Ive brought them back for this forum. I hope it sparks some discussion. Some of my predictions can get to be a bit outlandish.
Group A has the Greeks as the Host nation. I dont think they are all that good, but they are playing in front of a home crowd, and are adding allstars from all of their club teams so they might be able to pull something off. Korea is always good, as is the Mexicans. And everyone keeps telling me how good the African teams are so i guess you will have to say that Mali has a shot to do something.
Boulay's picks for group A:
Winners: Mexico Runner-up: Greece
Group B is this tournaments "Death Group" if you will. Four very talented teams. The favorite of course, being the Italians, who as people that have read my journal in the past day or two have seen that they ran away with the UEFA U-21 Championship a day ago. The Azzurrini should play well and i see them doing very well in this upcoming tournament. Paraguay will be very tough, and it would be a surprise for them not to advance. The only thing i could see coming in the way of a Paraguayan advance is the Black Meteor's of Ghana. And yes, country's have nicknames for teams in soccer. Japan is a good team, don't get me wrong, but I really dont see them doing anything, with Italy doing as good as they are, and Paraguay and Ghana fighting for the runner-up spot, i think Japan will miss out on advancing.
Boulay's picks for Group B:
Winners: Italy Runner-up: Paraguay
Group C to me looks harder than Group B, but Group B will get all the publicity for having Italy and Paraguay in it. But back to Group C. Argentina is always very good, and as long as they dont play like they did in the World Cup (I dont think they will), they should take this group. Serbia-Montenegro lost to Italy in the Uefa Championship 3-0, but that shouldn't be the reason to count this team out. I have seen them play, and they are damn good. It will be tough to beat the Serbs. Now we come to Australia. The "roos" if i remember correctly, are also talented, but their only competition in their Oceania Zone is New Zealand. Everyone else is considerably bad. So one has to wonder how they will fare against these three teams. But Australia is a talented team, don't get me wrong. They can certainly make some noise in the Olympics. And now we get to Tunisia. These kids are also pretty good. I am not sure if they will be able to hold up against the three teams i named, but they should have a legitimate shot. So don't count out the Tunisians either.
Boulay's picks for Group C:
Winners: Argentina Runner-up: Australia
Now we get to Group D. The final group in this very tough, very exciting Olympic tournament we will all be able to enjoy come August. I want to start off with the favorites of the group, the Portuguese. This team, when healthy is the real deal. I enjoyed following them during the Uefa tournament. They are exciting, and very fun to watch. Definitely the team to follow if you want some non-stop action. I will go out on a limb and say they will run away with this division. They will be stacked by August. Now onto the Costa Ricans. Costa rica won the CONCACAF tournament in order to qualify, and i expect they should make this Group an exciting one to watch. Iraq. The team no one thought could make it. And three months after they are reinstated by the IOC, they qualify. This team is another talented one. It will be a pleasure seeing them come August. And now onto Morocco. This team seemed to have went to sleep for a few years, but are back now and i think could make some noise in the group.
Boulay's picks for Group D:
Winners: Portugal Runner-up: Iraq
But the thing with all the African teams, they all were a bit screwed with the groups. I think it may be hard for any of them to advance. The only one i see with a pretty good shot is Ghana, but i had to put Paraguay ahead of them. But hey, its been hard to pick any of the groups in any of the international competitions as of late. So pick a team. Stick with them. And good luck to you and them during this wonderful Men's Olympic Football Tournament. (Football means soccer, its a soccer tournament, where the ball is round and there are goals, with nets.)
But ya, comment and tell me how you think I did with the article i wrote, and the picks. As an obvious Italian soccer fan, I tried not to be biased. I think i did a good job. |
