Furry Fiesta and Oklacon room party at MFM!

That's right folks, Oklacon and Furry Fiesta are teaming up to bring you a fun Friday night at Mephit Furmeet this weekend.

Oklacon is helping spread the word about Furry Fiesta as we're a first-year con and we really want to get the word out about our convention down here in Dallas next February.

So Friday, August 29th, from 9 till 11pm in suite # 350 we will be having a joint room party for both conventions.

Staff members from both cons should be present so come by, have a drink and a bite to eat, learn a bit about Oklacon and Furry Fiesta and participate in our free raffle.

We'll be giving away a $25 gift certificate for FurPlanet, usable either online or in the dealer's room. Must be present to win, so stick around till 10:30pm when we pull the winning ticket.

This Aug 23rd we will be meeting at Roman Nose State Park, home of Oklacon for our august OAAA meeting and to socialize and just have some fun. There will be free food, games, fursuiting, and other activities. Experience a little "taste" of Oklacon.

This event is open to everyone so please bring a friend and tell them about Oklacon. Pre-Registration for Oklacon will be open at this meet so sign up on Aug 23rd and secure your place in an a-frame for the con on October 23-27. Anyone who pre-registers and pays at Roman Nose on the 23rd will also receive a special gift.

I live in El Reno and I dont have a car and me and my boyfriend would love to go to oklacon but we dont have any friends willing to take us. If anyone will be passing through El Reno and have enough room for 2 people we would love to hear from you. he might not go because he is not a furry like i am but he has a costume i made for him. I am going to go even if i have to walk but I would rather not have to walk.

Oklacon is still in need of some skilled DJs to help Us keep the music playing all night long! Oklacon is a convention in Watonga OK, and unlike ANY convention you will ever attend! This I can vouch for. I am looking for some skilled people that were already planning on attending, or were curious about it, or were looking for a way to break out into the fandoms DJ scene. Ill consider all applicants!

All that I would like is that you fill out this application to the best of your ability and then I'll get back to you as soon as possbile. It would be even better if you had an example of your DJing, like a set or recording of you doing your thing!

Whether I get "attacked" or not for this, I really don't care. I am sick and tired of all the whining going on by all the attendees, staff, and officers of this year's Oklacon. Enough is enough. We are getting to the point to where you people are so overly concerned with who betrayed who, who has a say and who doesn't, who's trying to ruin the con, why we should ban this rule, that person, replace these people, etc... that it is driving me FUCKING INSANE!

Has everyone forgotten what a con is supposed to be? It's supposed to be a fun get-together with activities and such... who the flying fuck cares whether the activities are in the hotel or at the TR? "but I don't wanna walk." Get over yourself. We have a shuttle system being set up to take people back and forth. And, besides, it's an outdoor con... YOU HAVE TO WALK SOMETIME.

"But their getting rid of Travis and Heros, and I'm going to boycott." Good for you, I have no comment on my personal feelings towards this decision/series of decisions, but you people need to seriously calm down and stop feeding the drama.

"But the bylaws (insert complaint/explanation here)" Take it to an OAAA list, and leave Oklacon-talk to what it is, talk regarding Oklacon. Oklacon is a SUBSIDIARY of OAAA, it is NOT OAAA by any means.

"But (enter appropriate name here) is trying to ruin Oklacon by making it into a hotel con." We have the entire hotel this year (possibly the whole park)... why not utilize that? Besides, I don't know if you people complaining about this are familiar with the inadequate size and/or electrical system in the TR to handle all events, but we've held plenty of events at the lodge in the past, and, until now, no one had a problem... or at least not this big of one. Besides, I don't know about the rest of you, but I prefer not to have to move all those tables and art, and lighting and DJ equipment around EVERY SINGLE DANCE.

I might be leaving something out, and if I did, and you're upset, go jump in a lake. If you have something civil and constructive to add, then by all means. Otherwise, if you're just going to attack me, I don't want to hear it, and I will bite back.

The beast has made it’s home at Oklacon 6 and now is expanding its territory this year with the Lodge available to the few who seek it's safety.
Rooms will be offered for the low price of $63 a night (Make sure you mention you are with Oklacon when making reservations), but you must hurry because ROOMS ARE RUNNING OUT FAST, we have already sold out half of the hotel. The cabins are also all filled at this time. You might want to consider bringing that tent this year or bunking up with your furry friends in an A-Frame. Act soon as your time is running out. SUB-LEVEL 03 RETURNS & MIDNIGHT DANCES

To keep the creatures active at night, Sub-Level 03 returns to Oklacon 6 with the second show of their new tour, featuring an all new set and rockin’ new tunes. For more information on the band, please visit http://www.sublevel3.us But the night time fun doesn't stop there, also preforming will be Bucktown Tiger, and many talented DJ's including our own DJ Fenn who will be doing an "All Request Dance" Friday night after Bucktown's show. OKLACON NEEDS ART!

Artists at the con this year will make their mark with a new offering. If you pre-register for the con you can get free
Art Panel space! This is a limited time offer so act now! Art work will need to be matted and/or framed and is limited to size.

We are also looking for artwork for the conbook, webpage, promotions and more. Please contact

PROGRAMMING AND EVENTS

We experienced a growth spurt last year at the con so we will be expanding our programming to the
Roman Nose Lodge also. We will be having many of the regular events you have come to love at Oklacon
like the Predator/Prey games, the outside Fursuit games, the Shaving Creamed Pie fight and other activities and lots more new things to do and see.
If you would like to contribute, please contact Lucky Wolf at events08@oklacon.org to submit your ideas or participation, and keep in mind we are looking for both indoor and outdoor events.

AUCTIONS & DEALERS DEN

There will be two auctions again this year, one to benefit our Con charity Safari Sanctuary of Broken Arrow, OK. (http://www.safarissanctuary.org/), and the art auction to benefit you, our attendee. Our Furry Auction will
showcase your items of furry origin that you no longer want. Just bring those in for yourself or to benefit the Charity Auction. If you have a lot to offer, consider being a dealer. FOOD!

One of the most unique items that the con provides is food! Oklacon has meals! We provide a lot of
food for you to dine on, including a lunch and dinner prepared by our kitchen staff and head chef, Travis. You are also encouraged to bring your own, just in case you have a hearty appetite.

Hi, I'm rather new here...this is the first I've heard of this con, or this community, actually.

I'm a furry that moved to OKC back in January, but didn't realize we had a nice sized furry community here.

I'm currently in a bind, as the ex (who doesn't know I'm furry, despite my many hints lol) has told me I have to get out of the apartment by the first. I'm looking for a job at present, and have several possibilities. I don't have that much stuff to take with me, but I was hoping any of ya'll might have a place I could crash for a little while, or an idea of something I could do, or just might want to meet up and get to know a lonely pantherwolf down on her luck before she's back on the streets.

Hello! I wanted to attend Oklacon last year but found out about it too late; so this year I'd definitely like to go if I can! (ie, as long as I don't get deployed). Anyway, pretty sure I'd be doin' a little roadtrip from NM (Las Cruces area, I'm stationed at White Sands Missile Range) and was wondering if anyone would be traveling from in between and would like to get a ride and help me with gas x) I'm guessing no because I'll be going through like Roswell and Amarillo which aren't exactly big population centers and this is a small con, but figured I'd advertise anyway.

This'd be my second con, first being AC in June, yay :D

A couple of quick notes.. the lower tempatures will be in the 40's ... bring warm blankets and clothes!!

Izumecon event coming up

March 14th and 15th starting at 6pm is the Izumecon PARTY. My bad, I thought it was the con itself. I guess that is why it starts at 6pm on Saturday.

Anyway just another reminder about it.

I hope my fellow Furs and Fursuiters are making plans on attending one or both of those days. I am going to get there early and see about assisting
with setting up as I have to head home and be in bed by 6pm (Graveyard shift
you know for me) But I encourage others to get there early with me and show the others there that we are a lot of fun.

Im new to lj and ive never been to a con b4.

i have a few questions about oklacon.

first off, what is the usual age group? is it mostly adults? how many teens usually go? im 16 and i was wonering if id feel totally out of place if i were to go with my friends in 08.

also, if i camp in a tent instead of an A-Frame or hotel and i bring a pet, the pet can stay on my campsite right? just like any other camping trip? i couldnt leave my dog tied out she would have to sleep in the tent with me.
