Mario Lopez to reprise Patrick Swayze's role in 'Dirty Dancing' remake
Melbourne, Nov 6: Producers of the new 'Dirty Dancing' movie have finally found the man whom they think will be perfect for Patrick Swayze's role.
According to inside reports, TV actor Mario Lopez managed to impress the film's producers with his cha-cha moves as a contestant on TV show 'Dancing with the Stars'.
Industry insiders have revealed that the producers are likely to find an even-lesser known actor to play the female lead.
While on one hand the original film's fans are looking forward to the new flick, Patrick Swayze has reported;y said that he?s appalled that they're planning a remake.
"I think that the original really stands up well and both leads were great!" he laughed. We seem intent on re-making everything right now," Moviehole.net quoted him, as saying.
Despite the fact that the original 1987 film, which was directed by Emile Ardolino was a low-budget venture with no major stars (at the time), it was a roaring success.
Its soundtrack is one of the best-selling soundtracks of all time, and it spawned several hit singles, including 'She's Like The Wind' written and sung by Swayze; 'Hungry Eyes,' and 'I've Had The Time Of My Life,' which won an Oscar for Best Original Song.
