The Red Bracelet
I don't know if this has been posted here or not, if it has delete this.

I was reading People and came across an article about the red bracelet that Nicole Richie wears all the time.

Talk To The Hand

"The red string that Nicole Richie has been wearing lately isn't the famed-and trendy-Kabbalah string; it's a gold Hamsa bracelet. The Hamsa hand is an ancient amulet for magical protection from the evil eye. With the new season of The Simple Life airing and her relationship with boyfriend DJ AM back on, Richie has a lot to be protective of. Think of it as a spiritual, and fashionable, insurance policy."

Taken from the May 1, 2006 issue of People.

You can check out the bracelet at www.kitsonshop.com

No it's not, it has been around for centuries. There's another one with a hand with the thumb between the fore and middle fingers that is also supposed to protect you against the evil eye and unnatural influences.

i have a hamsa charm that i bought about two years ago. (i'm a religious nut - i don't practice a single one i; just LOVE to study about them.)

i don't like when religious things become trendy. people end up losing the true meanings behind them.

eh.

I totally agree and it suck 'cause when you wear something like the hamsa charm people think you're only doing it because you saw someone somewhat famous wearing it even do you actually wear it because it actually has mean for you.

I swear, I used to wear a red Buddhist string around my neck back in 1999 but decided to wear it around my wrist instead and would change it whenever the string got old. Until the Kabbalah thing came around and people thought I wore it because of Madonna or because it was trendy. I stopped wearing it three yrs ago.

I wear 2 string bracelets, one red and one white. They are bracelets from Bahia in Brazil and everyone asks if they are Kabbalah. I'm like, no. You're supposed to leave them on till they fall off and I kinda wish they would fall off already (yes I am lame and too superstitious to cut them off).

I have one too and originally it was white and now it's turned into this dirty string since I've had it one for over a year. I wish this damn thing would fall off already so I can have my 3 wishes for peace.

So it's just another pseudo-religious ornament?

This is supposed to be better how? Or are we just clarifying?

If I ever become famous I'm going to wear my scapular all the time and brag about it and see if it catches on as a trend. Those are so freaking uncomfortable.
