MANDY MOORE'S ITUNES PLAYLIST
1. Stealing Kisses by Lori McKenna: One of my favorite artists. An idol of mine. I've written a bunch of songs with her for my record but it's tough to choose just one of her songs ... I'd probably have to go with 'Stealing Kisses' because it was one of the first songs of hers I discovered. The lyrics are heartbreaking but I love how beautifully unique her voice is. Love her. :)
2. Someone Else's Life by Joshua Radin: Josh is a good friend of mine and again, it was hard to choose just one song. I think Josh is a career artist and his music is so reminiscent of the singer-songwriter era of the '60s - '70s. His voice is very James Taylor meets Paul Simon. I think this song is adorable ... a beautiful melody ... simple and perfect. :)
3. All That I'm Good For by Hem: I love this band! I'm hoping to catch them live at some point. When I was writing with Rachael Yamagata for my album, she introduced me to their Rabbit Sounds record and I had this song on repeat for about 2 weeks. I think the sentiment of the song is so sweet. I'd love for someone to feel this way about me ... hehe. :)
4. Gotta Have You by The Weepies: This band rocks ... their Say I Am You record is my current obsession. It hasn't stopped playing on my iPod. Again, a sweet little love ditty with a twist. I guess I'm in a good place in my life because I'm gravitating towards songs with a very common theme.
5. Last Goodbye by Jeff Buckley: You can't have a playlist without a little Jeff Buckley. This is one of my favorite songs. Ever.
6. Holiday Inn by Elton John: This is quintessential Elton. I always loved this song and even tried it for my album, Coverage, but we had already filled our Elton John square with Mona Lisas and Mad Hatters so we nixed it in the end. Madman Across the Water is one of my favorite Elton albums and this song is so melodic and fun.
7. Waiting for my Real Life To Begin (Album Version) by Colin Hay: Good gracious I love his voice .. but I must admit, I'm a total lyric girl and this song wraps up a very certain feeling quite nicely. His voice will completely hook you but his words will make you play the song again and again. The title says it all - I think everyone feels this way sometimes ... ya know?
8. Reason Why by Rachael Yamagata: I adore Rachael and I'm so excited to see where the next chapter is going to take her. She has talent oozing from every pore. :) That being said, this song is so sad but so hopeful. I immediately felt myself so taken by her voice and how I felt like she was talking directly to me.
9. Free Man in Paris by Joni Mitchell: Another one of my all-time favorites. Joni can do no wrong. I wish I could sing like her. She's someone I'd be absolutely terrified to meet ... she's just too brilliant. This song makes me fantasize about packing up and moving to Paris. It's a song that always manages to put a smile on my face.
10. Love Vibration by Josh Rouse: Another current obsession of mine. I could have picked like six of his songs ... this song feels so vintage-y. A great, fun, driving song. It feels really live and makes me want to dance ... if I could dance, haha ...
11. Chicago by Sufjan Stevens: I was really taken with this song the first time I heard it. It's really big and sweeping. His whole record has such a unique feel to it. I think it has an almost musical-theatre aspect to it ... which is amazing. Very hip.
12. The Walk by Imogen Heap: She is just so flippin' cool. Live, her voice will kill you ... it's so amazing. I couldn't believe it. And onstage, she runs the whole show herself. I loved Frou Frou but I love just Imogen more ... can't wait to see what's next.
13. Let Him Fly by Patty Griffin: In a perfect world I would open my mouth and Patty Griffin's voice would come out. She amazes me ... this song makes me melt, so raw and real. It's such a beautiful way of dealing with something as heartbroken as saying goodbye.

EDIT: Yeah the commentary is Mandy's, all the other celeb playlists have it like that, with the actual list and then a little section for their comments on each song. Sorry about the confusion. :)
