50. Fembots (Austin Powers)

23. Grendel's Mother (Beowulf)
22. Sil (Species)
21. Kathryn Merteuil (Cruel Intentions)

20. Xenia Onatopp

First Appearance:: Goldeneye (1995)
Why We Love to Hate: No, no Xenia, the pleasure is all ours (I assure you). The only thing we hate about this woman is that she died outside of the bedroom. It's true that she nearly killed Bond on more than one occasion, but watching her go to work on her victims was well worth their discomfort. Any villainess that uses an "orgasmic embrace" or "flying body-scissor" while simultaneously killing her partner is definitely worthy of the number 20 slot.

Xenia killed her victims by crushing them between her well sculpted thighs and, onatopp of this, she found bliss the moment her victims sucked their last gulp of air. Most men would willingly sign up with the KGB for the chance at a coital clench with the lovely Famke Janssen, and that is why this is the only Bond girl to make it on our list.

19. Borg Queen

First Appearance:: Star Trek: First Contact (1996)
Why We Love to Hate: The original Borg Queen, played by Alice Krige, lead her complexion-defunct drones back in time to assimilate Earth and kill Star Trek in the process. For some of us fanboys, that puts this bitch at number one villainess. To add insult to injury, the Borg Queen proved that sex will always be awkward between aliens and androids, as evidenced by her attempt to seduce Data with, um, skin grafts. Yeah…

Despite some Cenobite tendencies, the Borg Queen managed to survive her failed attempt, resurrecting herself after the events in First Contact. She would appear looking a lot like actress Susanna Thompson in four episodes of Voyager. But the first, and best, Queen returned to the 24th Century during Voyager's finale, and proved once again that resistance is futile. For the Borg Queen should take her own advice after losing every time she tries to conquer humanity.

18. Harley Quinn (SHE AND IVY SHOULD BE HIGHER)

First Appearance:: Batman: The Animated Series
Why We Love to Hate: Dr. Harleen Quinzel, aka Harley Quinn, quickly won our hearts when she started a manic love-hate affair with the Joker. This relationship would become a key part in the 1990s animated series, as Harley's complex loyalties and deadly arsenal of novelty gags-turned-weapons would consistently challenge (and annoy) The Dark Knight. Harley may be the a prime example of good girl forever dealing with going bad, but redemption will forever be a step behind the long arm of the law as she continues to pawn for her "Mr. J."

17. Edea Kramer

First Appearance:: Final Fantasy VIII (1999)
Why We Love to Hate: Edea is a bitch of a boss. She's a power-hungry sorceress with a hell of an ice-strike, and all that crap about her being a meek and defenseless orphan prior to her abduction by Ultimecia means nothing when she is beating your ass with her barely-clad breasts.

She is relentless with her javelin-like magical bursts, and is nearly impossible to maneuver around in the first of her two battles. The second battle at Galbadia Garden is even more intense than the first because her death and silence attacks are nearly tripled in power.

Edea is also a limited-play character; her powers are accessible in the beginning of disk three leading up to Esther City, but who wants to play as this chick when you can stare at her while she quivers and aches for battle when you enter into her domain? With that said, few would complain to be on the receiving end of Edea's death blows as long as she sports that nice little nothing she almost wears.

16. White Queen (aka Emma Frost) (Overrated)

First Appearance:: Uncanny X-Men, #129 (1980)
Why We Love to Hate: Emma Frost has been heralded as one of Marvel Comic's hottest characters of all time, and through her numerous incarnations she has become a necessary evil in the X-Men world. She is best known for her telepathic dealings with her fellow mutants, and for her trademark barely-there white wardrobe. But who can forget those instances when she is cloaked in only a wall of diamonds?

This bucksome babe has been to the front lines of battle with the X-Men and back again, but she never seems to lose her luster. There's no competition between the Disney version of the queen of the same name, because no amount of icy rage and polar hostility could thwart the down-right busty benevolence of a mutant in stilettos.

15. Amanda Woodward

First Appearance:: Melrose Place (1992)
Why We Love to Hate: Heather Locklear will go down in the books as the one of the best TV villains because Amanda Woodward was among the most manipulative and intolerant personalities ever to sport a midriff. Locklear started out as a high profile guest in the first season when the show received mediocre reviews, but apparently the addition of a maniacal millionaire was all the Spelling series needed. Amanda was hot, she slept around – a lot – and ruined the lives of many a man-whore on the show, but without her, the 90210 spin-off would have just been another show about the mundane lives of would-be actors and models. Amanda added the necessary soap opera-esque element that drew people in week after week, because they wanted to see just how wicked this woman could be. Wicked never looked so good as it did on a taught and toned 1990s Locklear. We welcome her to a catfight at the IGN offices any time.

14. Evil-Lyn

First Appearance:: He-Man (1983)
Why We Love to Hate: She started out as an '80s action figure, one of those immoveable plastic creatures that served little purpose other than dragging through the mud and throwing, and yet she still managed to make it as one of the best loved villainesses in He-Man's long history.

Evil-Lyn was introduced into the Masters of the Universe collection in order to satisfy the time's necessity for political correctness in gender diversity. She satisfied more than that when she appeared in the pilot episode Diamond Ray of Disappearance. She was quickly named as one of Skeletor's main accomplices, and used the oh-so-descript "shaping staff" spells to work the He-Man heroes up into a frenzy. And while her transition to the big screen proved, well, a little to pasty for our tastes, Evil-Lyn can shape staff us any day.

13. Dark Samus (All of the Metroid Prime games are like crack.)

First Appearance:: Metroid Prime 3: Corruption (2007)
Why We Love to Hate: After Samus defeated Metroid Prime, the remaining mass absorbed Samus' suit and then this happened: An evil, nearly-identical creature was born out of the soupy mass, and thus Dark Samus was born.

The first time not-so-dark Samus battled her evil counterpart, she made quick work of the imposter and left the disintegrated mass in the pits of the Space Pirate Base. But, taking a page from the T-1000's playbook, the remains of Dark Samus collected itself again, with the promise for one more showdown with our favorite Nintendo bounty hunter. Dark Samus is nothing more than a confounded mass of Samus' spillage and Metroid mess, but she still manages to top our list because she makes hand-me-downs look good.

12. Nina Myers

First Appearance:: 24 (2001)
Why We Love to Hate: We learned all about why double agents are sexy when we looked at Alias' Lauren Reed, so we can already say that the whole covert ops thing strikes a chord with us here at IGN. But Nina ranks higher than Lauren for two reasons.

First, Nina is much better at her deception; there was none of that fluttering back and forth between loving and wanting to kill her target. Nina was all business. Second, Nina's death came off much better than Lauren's. She didn't waste time pleading; she fought to the death with her gun (and ours) cocked all the way.

11. Mystique (She's terrible in the movies. Then again, the movies are pretty terrible to begin with.)

First Appearance:: X-Men (1978)
Why We Love to Hate: While the movie version of this character is appreciated – what's not to love about a mutant who fights other mutants naked and covered in blue? – it was the original comics' version of Raven that earned the character the coveted number 11 slot. Created by artist Dave Cockrum (nice name, buddy), Mystique became a villainess worth the Marvel 'Verse's time.

10. Pris

First Appearance: Blade Runner (1982)
Why We Love to Hate: This Nexus-6 Replicant never met a boiling egg she couldn't reach in and man-handle, or a Blade Runner she couldn't choke-hold with her thighs. Pris, with her Tim Burton facial color pallet, was programmed a pleasure model but spent most of her brief lifespan delivering pain.

As Roy Batty's lady friend, Pris lived everyday as if it were her last, and they were. While we can't totally fault the chick for behaving badly (she's a mental level-B military/leisure model, what's she gonna do?), we can hold her accountable for manipulating J.F. Sebastian and skull-punching our man Dekkard. And all that Mary Lou Retton gymnastics sh*t was just plain annoying.

9. Faith Lehane (YES YES YES. I'm being her for Halloween.)

First Appearance: "Faith, Hope and Trick", Buffy the Vampire Slayer (1998)
Why We Love to Hate: 'Cause she's hot! Sorry, knee jerk reaction. Aside from her sexy badgirl looks, Faith is the perfect mix of damaged goods and badass babe that our list likes to see. She gave Buffy a challenge outside the usual suspects of demons, vamps and Dawn. Faith was a brooding, complex, self-centered troublemaker, who had all of Buffy's physical strengths but none of the Sunnydale Slayer's pesky moral compunction. Guy does bad? Then guy gets ass kicked, quartered and staked by girl. And then said girl goes to work on him.

Sure, Faith found some sense of redemption toward the end of Buffy's run and played a key roll in driving the Hellmouth back to, well, wherever Hellmouths hail from. But at the end of the day, we'll take the moody, accidentally-murdered-human-Deputy-Mayor-Allan Finch over I'm-banging-Principal-Wood any day.

8. Alex Forrest

First Appearance: Fatal Attraction (1986)
Why We Love to Hate: Tom Hanks' character in Sleepless in Seattle put it best: "Didn't you see Fatal Attraction?! …It scared the sh*t out of me. It scared the sh*t out of every man in America." Alex Forrest is the number one reason behind the mass exodus of so many scared sh*tless males. Sure, she's not as "hot" as the majority of this list's ladies. But not even Mystique would boil a little boy's bunny. Or use a suicide attempt to implicate The Man, Michael "Black Rain" Douglas, in an elaborate blackmail. Alex is Exhibit A why you don't cheat. Ever. Unless you're Michael Douglas, then you can cheat and save the day by letting your wife blow a .38 caliber hole into the crazed mistress who has invaded your home.

7. Catherine Tramell

First Appearance: Basic Instinct (1992)
Why We Love to Hate: Any former Mrs. Total Recall's Quaid who rides men like their 25-cent-mechanical-broncos while stabbing them with an ice pick multiple times belongs on this list.

The mystery author, who essentially used her books to foreshadow the homicides she would eventually commit, didn't need to open her legs in the interrogation scene to put one over the police. She put everything, everything, out there, in plain sight, and still managed to get away with it. At the end of the day, after some serious girl-on-girl lovin' with Roxie, and some serious Sharon Stone-on-Douglas lovin', Catherine is the only dame on this list we'd still bang, knowing full well there's a 99% chance of getting an ice pick repeatedly put to our person. And if you don't know what we're talking about, Netflix BI, watch the first 4-minutes and then you'll understand.

6. Alien Queen (So sexy.)

First Appearance: Aliens (1986)
Why We Love to Hate: The mother of xenomorphs everywhere, the Alien Queen is the best non-human villainess to ever grace the big screen. To this day, hers is the only fight against a power loader that is worth watching. (The others usually tap out.) Even though the Queen's appearance in the fourth Alien film amounted to little more than a cameo, her bitchy turn in Cameron's Aliens more than compensates for such short shrift. The Queen gave us one of the best movie monsters ever made, and her crown doesn't look to be in jeopardy anytime soon.

5. Number 6

First Appearance: Bears. Beets. Battlestar Galactica (2004)
Why We Love to Hate: No Top 50 list would be complete if we didn't include the person responsible for the destruction of the Twelve Colonies. Number Six is such a phenomenal character for several reasons (and we're not even going to get into how hot she is). As the first Cylon depicted in the new, re-imagined Galactica, she represented a quantum leap forward not just from the tin-can guy-in-a suit Cylons of yesteryear, but also in terms of what sci-fi fans were so accustomed to getting in their watered-down Stargate and Star Trek-watching lives. This was a robot, sure, but Number Six was also alive! Living, loving, frakking (as they say)… Also, she was sooooo hot. O.K., so we did mention that.

Six is a complex villain, and some would say those are a dime a dozen. But this one stands out above the rest because, unlike most, her purpose is literally programmed into her, a machine who worships a God who may or may not be nothing more than a directory on her motherboard. While Six strives for Cylon perfection, and the extermination of humanity, her means lead her closer to being human than she may care to admit. For Six once convinced Baltar that being human is not so much the gift of poetry or art, but rather that "murder is his heritage", words that become more applicable to Six as the body count rises

4. The Baroness

First Appearance: G.I. Joe, #1 (1982)
Why We Love to Hate: Destro's moll is espionage and guile wrapped in skin-tight fine, shouting raspy-orders to Cobra troops while shifting allegiances between Destro and Cobra Commander. To say that The Baroness is an opportunist is like saying that Serpentor is a genetically-engineered blowhard; it's a given. But to say that this raven-haired mistress of evil is equal parts conqueror and strategist, hired-gun and world domination-enthusiast, adds a dimension to the villainess that isn't common knowledge. Neither the comics nor the cartoon explored in-depth the aforementioned personality traits, even Snake Eyes could see that this Cobra solider has more up her sleeve than her enemies give her credit for.

3. Catwoman (TOO FIERCE AND AMAZING.)

First Appearance: Batman, #1 (1940)
Why We Love to Hate: Selina Kyle, the ultimate thorn in Batman's side, is the poster child for bad girls wanting to reform, but just…can't…seem…to do it. While her arc in the comics is too epic and complicated to do justice here, Catwoman has consistently vacillated between both sides of the law, ultimately ending up on the only side that matters – her own.

2. Annie Wilkes

First Appearance: Misery, 1987 (Novel).
Why We Love to Hate: What Alex did to married men seeking extracurricular relations , Annie did to writers thinking they can kill a character without the approval of their number one fans. Stephen King's Annie is a monster bitch of a woman; 1000 different types of "cockadoodie" crazy housed in the body of a linebacker and the brain of a lonely, delusional woman.

DRUM ROLL, PLEASE....

1. Dark Phoenix (NO NO NO NO NO NO NO OVERRATED MARY SUE NO NO NO NO)

First Appearance: Uncanny X-Men, #101, 1976.
Why We Love to Hate: When the Phoenix goes dark, her thirst for evil becomes unquenchable; the lust for power becomes unstoppable, and thus leads her to the top spot on our Top 50 list.

Jean Grey is one of the most interesting mutants Marvel's ever made, and obviously one of its most powerful. But nothing Jean could hold off the influence of the Dark Phoenix, an epic force of power that did more harm than good for Scott Summer's girl. Sure, the movie franchise missed the boat completely on the character, but that doesn't hurt DP's ranking as it may have hurt others on this list; Dark Phoenix's arc in the comics more than compensates for anything the movies lacked. And to those that think that doesn't count, that Dark Phoenix doesn't deserve the number one ranking, we ask you: What other placement is more fitting than first for an uncontrollable force that destroyed a planet full of sentient beings by eating their sun to satisfy its power hunger?

We rest our case by concluding this list.

I didn't know she had a second name.
