…But it has.


It's time to put the rumors to rest…

I, Tracie Thoms, 11 years after my first (failed) audition for RENT in the freezing cold of the East Village in NYC, have been asked to join the final cast of RENT on Broadway to be the FINAL JOANNE…

AND I HAVE ACCEPTED!!!!!!!!

It's official! It's been killing me for the past couple weeks because I was forbidden to say anything, but now it's about to be announced and I just can't wait any longer so I'm gonna say "fuck it" and tell you guys that I'm going to finally get to live my dream of doing RENT on stage…AND IN THE FINAL CAST AT THAT!!! I'm a little overwhelmed, so this blog is going to be short…ish. LOL...Who am I kidding???

My first show is July 26th. The matinee. AND…GET THIS….Sony pictures is filming the final performance and it'll be released in theatres so that everyone who wants to be there but can't will be able to see it!!!! HUH?

I mean, really, though... and I'm serious now...WHO OWED ME A FUCKIN' FAVOR?!?!?!? I mean, HOW did this HAPPEN?????

I've been in rehearsals all week and I'm STILL in de-fucking-nial!!!

The final cast is AMAZING!!! Eden Espinosa is my Maureen, Will Chase is Roger, Adam Kantor is Mark, Renee Elise Goldsberry is Mimi, Michael McElroy is Collins, Justin Johnston is Angel, and Rodney Hicks is Benny! AND (it just keeps getting better) Gwen Stewart, the ORIGINAL Seasons of Love Soloist, is returning to close the show as she started it! The high "C" in that song is her creation, and she is closing the show with a BANG!!! Really…she's RIDICULOUS! I just stand there and "Ooh-ooh" next to her. She's INCREDIBLE!!!

I'm so excited I could spit!!!!

Oh, and Cold Case? We're on a short hiatus until August 21st, and they've agreed to write me light our first episode back so that I can be a part of this amazing, historic event. I'll have to miss a couple shows that week, but I'll try to let you guys know which shows they are well in advance. Right now, I know I have to miss the matinee on August 10th because we'll be shooting Cold Case in Philly then. Other than that, I don't know yet…

OK, that's it. I can't say anymore…I've run out of words…

Just…wow…How the hell? Again.

She was in Wonderfalls, correct? I watched the whole series last week and didn't like it that much. It was cute, but I didn't enjoy it as much as I thought I would.

THEY ARE TOO OLD! I liked the original cast a lot, but as much as I loved seeing them sing together again in the movie...they're too old. And it fucked with the story because they're supposed to be 20 somethings, not 30 somethings! It made it less believable.

!!! This makes me sooooo happy for her. She was great in the movie, and I knew she was a huge fan of the show. She will be amazing.

Oh, thank God they're releasing it in theatres. I got to see Rent on Broadway, but have wanted to go back for the last performance.
