oprah ends 3 weeks of vegan eating

CHICAGO - Oprah Winfrey has finished her “Quantum” leap.

The media mogul just concluded a 21-day vegan cleansing process based on Kathy Freston’s book, “Quantum Wellness,” which counsels the avoidance of caffeine, sugar, alcohol, gluten or animal products. Changing her usual diet proved to be an educational process for Winfrey, who took to her blog to share her experience.

“Tomorrow is another day. That’s my mantra for now,” she wrote on her last day, when she ate a large baked potato and green salad for dinner.

Minus some olive oil, Oprah noted all of the ingredients were grown in her garden.

“I was raised by a grandmother who grew and harvested everything,” she wrote.

Beyond the health benefits, Winfrey notes that her “Quantum” stint made her more aware of the world’s food problems.

“I will forever be a more cautious and conscious eater. That’s my commitment for now,” she wrote. “To stay awakened.”

	I grew up on veggie fake meat, so it wouldn't be a huge leap for me to cut meat from my diet. But being Vegan? I could never really give up marshmallows and gummy bears. :( (Reply to this) (Thread)(Expand)

	Gelatin is more of a vegetarian thing, not a vegan thing. Most vegetarians won't eat any part of an animal whereas vegans expand that to all animal products. (Reply to this) (Parent)(Thread)(Expand)

	it must be nice to be able to have a ginormous garden and chefs and whatnot I could never be a veg. I don't eat red meat and I love veggie burgers, but OMG I could never ever give up poultry and fish. Also, I don't eat it often but rabbit is delish. (Reply to this) (Thread)

	You're still being hungry probably has to do with a lack of protein in your diet. Take a look at some protein bars/shakes/other options and make sure you're eating the recommended amount of protein every day. I still crave meat occasionally, but I'm usually able to make the craving go away with a good substitute like a boca burger or tofu dog. (Reply to this) (Thread)(Expand)

	Mmmmm... boca burger... A Fatburger opened up by my house last year and for the longest time they didn't have a veggie option. Now they have boca burgers (they even grill them on a separate grill) and that plus fat fries makes me soooooooo happy. (Reply to this) (Parent)(Thread)(Expand)

	i can't imagine not eating meat. the diner at the standard has an amazing veggie burger, but chicken is like my go-to. and i don't think i want to know what all i would have to cut out that are "gluten or animal products". (Reply to this) (Thread)(Expand)
