Gwyneth Paltrow’s new shorter haircut was traumatic

 

Gwyneth Paltrow’s new shorter haircut was an emotional transition for the star, because it involved cutting off hair she has had since before her father died.

The actress began growing her hair before film maker Bruce Paltrow died in 2002, and she has since married Coldplay rocker Chris Martin and given birth to their two children.

Paltrow tells the July issue of Harper’s Bazaar, “I was very, very attached to my hair. I grew it when I was pregnant. I still had hair from when my father was alive. I made it like a talisman. And then I was ready to let go of it, and so I chopped it off and … aaah!”

lol, I'm over 21 now and I've been growing my hair since I was 11. It's past my bra strap now. Every time I just have it cut and thinned (I have thick waves/curls), when I wash it afterwards, it feels so light that I kinda panic about how much she cut off!

Me either. My mom cried when I was little and demanded that my hair get cut shorter. She still has a lock of hair in an envelope and that was like 16 years ago lol.

well, gwen, when i was 12, i had hair past my ass, 'cause my mother is a crazy person and had a "no cuts, only trimming" rule... so one day i decide it'll be WAY RAD to get a neat lil pixie cut. yeah. lose THAT much hair at once, then call the care police >:(

I think some people are missing the point.

She was growing it long during some momentous times in her life therefore it has some significance.

she didn't say she was going to slit her wrists during the cut, she just said it was kind of annoying.

this happens to me everytime i cut my hair...and my hair grows fast,too (it can go from just past my ears in august to the middle of my back by may). i cry like a baby every august.

This sort of reminds me of when I was doing my A-levels and I had this weird superstition that I couldn't take out whatever earrings I had in while revising for the exam until after I'd sat it, because if I did, the knowledge might leak out of the holes in my earlobes.
