Audience walks during 'Postal' screening
Image and video hosting by TinyPic

HOBOKEN -- About 200 people were present Friday night at the start of the free screening of Uwe Boll's "Postal" at Pier A Park, but three-quarters walked away long before the closing credits.

Mat Levy -- who had his 15 minutes of fame as "Cheezy" on season two of VH1's celebrity dating show "I Love New York" -- was one of those who found the movie in bad taste.

The last straw for Levy was a scene in which two terrorists hijack a plane in a 9/11-style attack, but then decide to abandon the suicide mission and fly to the Bahamas instead -- only to wind up crashing into a building after the passengers storm the cockpit.

Mayor David Roberts, citing the same scene, refused to attend Friday night's premiere.

"I did not like Uwe Boll's perception of 9/11," Levy said. "It's too soon to mock a plane going into the World Trade Center. Do you not think there are families out there that had their loved ones killed on 9/11? It really upsets me that he couldn't care less.''

dave foley's in this stupid movie? bummer for him

now with source! sorry!

Seriously! My God, it was tragic, but it was nearly a decade ago! What happened to that whole "get-over-it-or-the-terrorists-really-do-win" thing? gtfoi. now. Jesus.

I don't understand how they're able to put another work right on the poster - South Park - when the two aren't linked in any way. If I were the creator of something, and it got linked to a piece of shit by some unknown blogger and then they put it on the poster? I'd be totally furious.

Unless it is linked in some way that I don't know.

It's a quotation from a critic making a comparison between the two, so it's not like the movie is saying that it is affiliated with South Park.

I don't think there's ever a right time to mock major tragedies like that. -_- There's much in human beings that can be riddiculed, so why resort to this?

but it wasn't too soon to make a movie reminding family members and suvivors their loved ones died in a more realistic film?

neither is/was appropriate imo.

I know. My history teacher, his dad was on the first plane that crashed into the WTC. His family was contacted about the Oliver Stone film but they did not endorse it nor support it in any way.

This movie looks stupid. I'd probably walk out too...not because I'd be offended by 9/11, but because I'd be offended by the shitty humor in general.

So when exactly is the proper time to mock that event?

I've heard reviews of this, and I'm not surprised.

I like it when people say it's too soon to make fun of something, as if there's an actually gage of how long it takes until something tragic can be funny. Bad taste is bad taste, but offensive things can still be funny sometimes.

I'm all for the idea that sometimes people NEED their horizons expanded so they won't be such judgemental twats. But people who feel the need to shit all over the line between bad taste and way too demented (because this didn't come close to even halfway bad) really need to gtfo.

It's like art students these days who pull insane and stupid shit and say it's "all in the name of art, and you are a philistine." Calling in a bomb threat to a museum is not art, and this movie is not provocative. It's just dumb.

I saw it after a friend of mine with usually pretty good taste recommended it to me. It was horrible (except for when Uwe Boll himself says his films are financed with Nazi gold.), not because it was un-pc, but because Uwe Boll has the sense of humour of a retarded puppy.
