IDOL AFTERMATH: Richard Palmese's J/RCA Music Group promo team are already on the case working the debut single from last night's Idol winner David Cook, "Time of My Life," which is being delivered to radio as we speak. Meanwhile, runner-up David Archuleta will join the Jive label for his album debut, coming sometimes this summer. Going against tradition, a single from the second place finisher will not be released until close to the full-length release date.

	i'm pretty sure that at a certain point (top 5) the idol contestants stop caring/being super upset if they get voted off bc they know they're getting what they came for (a big record deal with publicity to surround it). honestly, you might as well have won if you got second (Reply to this) (Thread)

	Yeah, it's really the better deal. If you make it to second, you get almost as much publicity from the show itself as the winner, but you're not locked into a shitty contract. And since you're basically guaranteed to get a record deal immediately, you won't lose out on publicity afterward as long as you make a record fairly quickly. (Reply to this) (Parent)

	I feel like a David Archuleta CD would be something that I would hear in the waiting room at a doctor's office/dentist/etc. But maybe that's because my dentist plays Clay Aiken 24/7, and David reminds me of a mini-Clay. (Reply to this)
