First look at Peacock
Production for the upcoming movie, Peacock, starring Cillian Murphy (28 Days Later, Batman Begins, and Sunshine), Ellen Page (Juno, X-Men 3, An American Crime), Bill Pullman (Independence Day, Spaceballs), Susan Sarandon (Enchanted, Speed Racer) and Josh Lucas (Stealth, Poseidon) has just begun a week of filming in small town Odebolt, Iowa, which has been transformed temporarily into fictional Peacock, Nebraska. This is the first public footage of Cillian as his character John Skillpa.

The story tells of John, a shy loner bank clerk, who leads a double life as Emma, whose neighbors believe is his reclusive wife. Ellen plays a struggling young mother who knows about John's past, and her interference sparks a battle between the two personalities. Bill plays the bank's supervisor, Josh plays a policeman and a friend of John's
and Susan plays the wife of Peacock's mayor.

This movie just sounds better and better. I can't wait.

This film sounds ~awesome~. Cillian makes a hotter girl than plenty of real girls. I don't know what to make of that.

that news clip is a special mix of precious and terribly pathetic. it's always embarrassing when small town people make a huge deal out of shit like that. there are always people filming around portland these days and nobody really cares. except for those creepy ass twilight moms, but they don't count. they filmed stuff on my campus all the time when i was in college and if i paid any attention at all i tried to fuck up the shot, because i was angsty like that.

So, is the movie a period piece b/c Cillian's clothes and the car look 1940s-1950s-ish?

Nah, it seems more like it's in the present, it's just that the town Peacock is supposed to be a sort of backwater place.

I know where Odebolt is. I drove three hundred miles to be there Tuesday to say hi to Cillian. Very surreal, seeing him again-- especially that far beyond "nowhere." Very pretty day, though, and very pretty country.

But yeah-- from what I saw of the car, Cillian's haircut and suit, and the costumes on the rack I was standing by, it looks like it could indeed be set in the Sixties. (Would go a ways toward accounting for a plot-twist forensics issue, too.)
