He has been in jail but there's only so long you can put someone in for drug charges and the prisons are full of gear anyway. It'd be nice if he actually got it together. People like him give people with real addiction problems a bad name.

Plus he's f'kin ugly.

People like him means - people who seem to revel in their hideousness i.e. squirting blood at people, videoing themselves smoking crack.

I'm not disputing his level of addiction. I'm not his Drugs Worker but I do have to question the way he portays himself and how useful this is, if he is in recovery.

Yeah, but when you say "People like him give people with real addiction problems a bad name" it sets him apart from people with 'real' problems. Everyone handles addiction differently. I doubt most people would come off looking good if they had to fight addiction in the public eye.

I think this is a case of my language not communicating what I'd like to say.

The addiction problems I refer to are more the associated problems. Not 'real addictions' because addiction is subjective.

Doherty has had the choice, same as every other person in the UK, to deal with his addiction privately. The media aren't really that interested in him it tends to be him drawing them in with strange stunts.

Agreed that half of this was an apparent miscommunication, but I find it a tad presumptuous to blame Pete entirely for the media circus - I think the media themselves, the people who buy the tabloids, and his 'friends' are partially to blame - though I can't speak for them or him.

I agree with you. "Real" addicts are not making Youtube videos of themselves smoking crack and trying to gain media attention.

Pete knows he's being filmed and he knows it's going to get out there in the media. He plays the 'oh look at me smoking smack' character very well.

I understand what you mean.
He is different from a lot of people with drug problems anyway as he can afford long term residential drug rehabilitation.
And like you say his drug addiction is part of what he sells.

It's most definitely his horribly damaged hair that hes been sporting as of late.

However, most of it its because its posted on his Youtube account. He's had it for a while now and has been posting tons of random videos of himself, Babyshambles, things around his house, but mostly of his cats.
