Casting announced for Lincoln Center production of Camelot [02 Apr 2008|01:54am] Initial casting has been announced for the New York Philharmonic's upcoming production of Camelot. According to the New York Times, Gabriel Byrne will play King Arthur with Christopher Lloyd as Pellinore and Marc Kudisch as Sir Lionel. Marin Mazzie is currently in negotiations to play the role of Queen Guenevere. As previously reported on Playbill.com, baritone Nathan Gunn will play Lancelot with recent 110 in the Shade actor Bobby Steggert likely for the role of Mordred. The Philharmonic will present semi-staged performances of Lerner & Loewe's Camelot in May. Directed by Lonny Price (A Class Act, 110 in the Shade), the musical will play Avery Fisher Hall May 7-8 at 7:30 PM, May 9 at 8 PM and May 10 at 2 and 8 PM. Thomas Z. Shepard will produce the limited engagement, and Paul Gemignani will conduct the famed orchestra. Nickelback Singer Convicted of Drunk Driving [02 Apr 2008|10:35am] Chad Kroeger, the lead singer for the rock band Nickelback, was convicted of drunk driving in Vancouver on Tuesday, the Associated Press reports. The charges stem from an early morning arrest in Surrey, British Columbia on June 22, 2006. Kroeger was pulled over by police for driving his Lamborghini 100 m.p.h. through a residential neighborhood. Police say that Kroeger's eyes appeared red and glossy, and that he handed the officer a credit card when asked for his driver's license. During the trial, Kroeger's attorney petitioned that the Breathalyzer test – Kroeger blew a .14, almost twice the legal limit of .08 – be thrown out. The judge overruled the motion, and the results were admitted into evidence. Kroeger was not in court when the verdict was read, but the judge wants him to appear for the May 1 sentencing. [02 Apr 2008|01:07pm] [ mood | creative ] [ music | Space Odyssey 2001 ]   Despite the fact  USA Network had only alloted one hour for the Hall of Fame ceremony this past Saturday Night, and that World Wrestling Entertainment officials and production staff were panicking due to how long Ric Flair's acceptance speech went, the 2008 WWE Hall of Fame will be remembered for Flair's heart-wrenching, emotional speech. Flair thanked not only everyone he could, but went out of his way to thank his first two wives by name, along with his children and his current wife. There is a controversy over the fact that Flair, who was once managed by Nancy "Woman" Benoit, thanked her murderer Chris Benoit during his speech and not Nancy, but so many people are on a "Flair-high" that he seems to be void of criticism right now. I'm not sure that Nancy's family feels the same way. But no one in the callous wrestling industry would dare point a finger at Flair this week.  His speech reduced many, including Shawn Michaels and Big Show to sob openly during his acceptance. Office Spinoff Greenlit [02 Apr 2008|01:48pm] There will be more "Office" time on NBC's schedule next year. The network has greenlighted the long-rumored spinoff from the Emmy-winning comedy. NBC is expected to make the announcement at its upfront news conference Wednesday. The project has been ordered straight to series. An underground NBC schedule floating around Monday morning shows the spinoff possibly launching after NBC's broadcast of the Super Bowl on February 1. According to news reports in the fall, NBC had been developing an episode of the hit comedy to serve as a backdoor pilot for a spinoff. source I swear to god, if Ben Silverman wasn't renewing FNL today, I'd go down to New York and do something drastic. This is almost worse than McSpaced. A source close to Troyer, 39, says the actor was experiencing "flu-like symptoms" while shooting The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus (Heath Ledger's last movie) in Burnaby, British Columbia. Adds the source, "He’s been working really hard on the film. They just wanted to hydrate him." A rep for Troyer denied that he was treated for a drug-related problem. “Verne is fine and doing well and is back to work,” the rep tells Us. Troyer checked into rehab for alcoholism in 2006. He opened up to Us at a Grammy party in February about struggling with addictions. "You have to have people help you," he told Us.
