Stone Confirms Album Aspirations




Actress Sharon Stone has confirmed she would love to make a music album and just needs a producer to come on board. The Basic Instinct star has been writing lyrics for the past year and was thrilled when a song she wrote to raise money for the victims of August's Hurricane Katrina disaster was selected for an album. She explains. "I wrote a song for hurricane relief and many people wrote songs for hurricane relief. "We gave it to the label and my song became the title track on this double album with all these important people. It was so exciting. "Now I'm trying to keep writing songs. When asked if she would like to record an album the actress said, "I would if someone wanted to - I'd love to. I will! "I write lyrics anything from R&B, soul, everything!"

With a US tour currently underway supporting the Black Eyed Peas, you would think that the P***ycat Dolls have little time for recording a new album, but that, infact, is exactly what's been happening during tour stops.

"We have a few producers on the road with us at the moment, feeling out what's going to happen on the next album," explains long-term Doll Carmit, "and of course Will [Will.I.Am] is also on tour with us, so we're working with him whenever we can too."

Having worked with talent such as Timbaland ("Wait A Minute"), Cee-Lo ("Don't Cha") and Snoop Dogg (the new single "Buttons") on their debut album, "PCD", the girls have a bar to raise with their new material; albeit without the help of lead vocalist Nicole Scherzinger.

"Of course you're always nervous when starting something new, and without Nicole recording with us, there's even more responsibility for us to step up and really deliver," says Kimberley.

Nicole, who joined the group after leaving her short-term post with girlband Eden's Crush, was only drafted in to record the groups debut LP before going solo.

"Although I still am very much part of the group at the moment, I'm still heading off to do my own thing in the Summer," says Nicole.

A taste of what's to come from the more-streamlined *****cat Doll line-up was given late last week, when a clip of new track "Dang (Work That)" leaked onto the internet, without Nicole's vocals.

"Yeah, the response to the clip has been great and it's definately a real taster of what's to come from us," reveals Carmit.

With their tour ending in June, after a short trip to the UK, the group are expected to return to the USA to begin studio production properly. The album is expected in October.

Pregnant actress Katie Holmes stunned a magazine journalist when she accompanied fiance Tom Cruise on a recent interview, by acting in a "dazed, passive and vacant" manner. The former Dawson's Creek beauty, 27, sat quietly beside Cruise as he opened up about his abusive father Thomas Mapother III to Parade reporter Dotson Rader. In the Parade interview, Rader writes, "Holmes wore a large diamond engagement ring. She seemed dazed, passive and vacant. She never stopped smiling." Rader was stunned to notice Holmes kept smiling, even as the Top Gun star recalled the beatings he suffered as a child.

Noted Chinese film star Gong Li, who is currently filming ace director Zhang Yimou's "Wearing Golden Armor Across the City" in the national capital of Beijing, has confirmed her next role will be in James Huth's English-language movie "The Yellow M."

Based on Edgar P. Jacobs' comic-strip characters Blake and Mortimer, "The Yellow M" will be an adventure thriller centering on MI5 agent Blake and brilliant physicist Mortimer who fight evil in 1950s London. 　　

Gong will play the enigmatic Dr. Li Mei, a scientist whose intelligence is matched only by her icy beauty, the Tianjin-based Morning Post reported. 　　

"The role is fresh to me and I have a lot of confidence in the director," Gong was quoted as saying. 　

Rufus Sewell ("A Knight's Tale") and Hugh Bonneville ("Notting Hill") will respectively play Blake and Mortimer. 　

Gong rose to stardom over a decade ago with art house hits like "Red Sorghum'' and "Raise the Red Lantern.'' She recently carved a niche in Hollywood after appearing in "Miami Vice", "Young Hannibal: Behind the Mask" and "Memoirs of a Geisha."

The star breaks the news during band's New York residency
The future of Gorillaz has been thrown into doubt after Damon Albarn admitted 2005's 'Demon Days' is "probably the last album we make".

The star was speaking after the fourth show of the cartoon outfit's five-night New York Harlem Apollo residency last night (April 5).

Albarn told BBC 6 Music that although he was happy with the way things were going within the group, he thinks they've maybe taken the concept as far as it can go.

He admitted: "At the moment we're like, that's probably the last album we make, I don't think we could make a better album than 'Demon Days' really, for what this is and how it works."

Pop-Tart Britney Spears decided to take a break from her family life last week so she could teach young children some new dancing skills in a studio in Los Angeles, according to a published report.

The pop singer and new mother took a time-out from her music career ever since 2004 in order to raise her now six-month-old baby-boy, Sean Preston, and to take pleasure in her husband's company, wanna-be rapper Kevin Federline, or K-Fed.



But seeing how 'generous' and 'caring' Britney is, she decided to sacrifice some of her free-time to share her knowledge and talent in dancing, free of charge, to the children at the 'Millennium Dance Studios'.

Although I'm not too sure what moves she could possibly teach the youngsters, considering that all she knows how to do is shake her booty and wind her hips...the choreographers and back-up dancers handled the rest.

CALISTA Flockhart has admitted for the first time she did not eat properly while starring as Ally McBeal.

The actress repeatedly denied suffering from anorexia at the height of her TV popularity in the late 90s.

Calista then insisted she had a "healthy appetite" and blamed her skeletal frame on "tiny bones".

Now, the 40-year-old has admitted she failed to eat enough while under pressure in the spotlight.

Calista said: "At the time of all that, I was seriously stressed. I was working 15-hour days on the set and then I was dealing with the end of the show, which was basically my life. I started under-eating, over-exercising, pushing myself too hard and brutalising my immune system. I guess I just didn't find the time to eat. I am much more healthy these days."

Calista shocked fans with her gaunt appearance at the 1998 Emmy Awards. The 5ft 5in star had allowed her weight to plunge under seven stone.

There were also fears for her health when she collapsed on the set of her series the following year.

The US comedy drama, in which she found fame as flustered lawyer Ally, attracted up to four million viewers on Channel 4 but was axed in 2002.

Calista is now living with Indiana Jones star Harrison Ford, 63, while raising her adopted son, Liam, five.

But, despite recent reports of their engagement, the actress claimed she and Ford are not talking about getting married. She explained: "We really haven't discussed it. He's had two long marriages before.

"But we're just very happy and content with the way things are. To be honest, I can go either way."

Mariah to Glitter in Broadway Musical

Mariah Carey is in talks to appear in and write material for an upcoming Broadway musical. Good news for Mariah Carey's fans that loved her in Glitter, mildly ominous news for the rest of us.

"I don't want to mention anything definitive until things are signed," she told MTV, "but there's a very big company that just signed on to develop the project with me."

Carey also added she will contribute new tracks to the musical and will lend songs from her 1994 Christmas album.

But don't look for Mariah on a Broadway marquee just yet: The singer hopes the project will be a feature-length film before going to the stage.

"It's probably going to be a movie first," she said. "I don't want to say a television movie, because it's not like a cheesy network movie, but then it's going to be made for the Broadway production."

Well that's good -- we were worried for a moment that the image of pop music's classiest diva might be tainted by a "cheesy" project.

Personally I think the film looks good, and I'll probably go see it, especially since I'm a fan of Mechlowicz. BAFTA winning actress Thandie Newton has sold her BMW 4x4 and replaced it with a hybrid car. The star of "Crash" has also written to dozens of other celebrities suggesting they think about doing the same.

The star of this year's Best Picture at the Oscars found a Greenpeace leaflet stuck to the windscreen of her family's SUV last year. Soon afterwards she traded in the gas guzzler for a fuel efficient Toyota Prius - a hybrid with an engine that switches from petrol to electric power to get better mileage.

For several months Greenpeace volunteers have been clamping 4x4s with cardboard clamps, putting leaflets under window wipers and fixing fake tax discs to windscreens that call for extra road tax for high emitting vehicles. Now Thandie has written to celebrity 4x4 owners on both sides of the Atlantic. In the letter she says:

"I'm very excited to write you this letter. I've been fretting over how to phrase it without provoking guilt or insult, when in fact I'm contacting you because of my respect for your success and influence& I sold my family's SUV - a BMW X5 - and replaced it with a Toyota Prius... As you know, extreme weather events are on the increase... This climate change, which is largely brought on by greenhouse gases in the atmosphere, seriously threatens generations to come... The hazards I thought I was preventing by driving an SUV are nothing compared to the hazards our children and grandchildren will face if more is not done now... I saw in the press that you own an SUV. If you don't, or you've already sold it, sorry for writing to you... I didn't know everything, and once I did, I had to make a change, and was delighted to do so. I hope you'll think about doing the same." (Full copy of letter in notes)

I was listening to the radio this morning and tuned in mid-discussion to the morning DJs at my favorite station talking about Katie Homes' "pregnancy". Apparently they had talked to a reporter from The Insider that morning and had come to the conclusion that Katie was really pregnant by Chris Klein before she and Tom got together, but that Tom said that he was OK with raising the baby as his if she would play wife to him. They also concluded that she has already had the baby (evidenced by the loss of pregnancy weight around her face and ankles recently, and the fact that not many fathers would be as far away from a ready-to-pop mother as Tom is from Katie), and that she is wearing a prosthetic belly in order to both promote Tom's new movie best and to make the timeline right so that it looks like it really is Tom's and not Chris' (evidenced by the ever changing size/shape of Katie's belly).

I know there have been discussions around here about Katie's belly being fake and even if she was ever pregnant at all, but I never remember hearing the Chris Klein theory. If that is, in fact, old news, let me know and I'll take this down. (It's my first post here! Sorry if I didn't do it right!)

MySpace has the trailer for "John Tucker Must Die," starring Jesse Metcalfe, Sophia Bush, Brittany Snow, Ashanti, Arielle Kebbel and Jenny McCarthy.  When three popular girls from different cliques discover they've all been dating the same school stud, they decide not to get mad but get even!  They enlist an inconspicuous new girl to help cook up a clever scheme to ruin his reputation and break his heart.  The movie opens July 28.

Jessica Simpson Sued For Not Liking Her Own Cheap Brand Of Jeans

Jessica Simpson is being sued for the outrageously large sum of $100 million by a clothing company that licensed her name for a line of casualwear, claiming she refused to properly endorse the sensibly priced duds in public:

The Tarrant Apparel Group alleges that Simpson, 25, failed to support the clothing lines and even refused to be photographed wearing items from the JS by Jessica Simpson and Princy collections...The complaint also notes that when Simpson was asked by the press last year to name her favorite brand of jeans, "instead of responding 'Princy,' she said 'True Religion.'" While Princy jeans retail for about $60, the trendier True Religion denim can cost more than $350 (for the unitiated, "Princy" is the nickname given to Simpson by her father/manager Joe).

While Simpson aligning herself with True Religion couldn't have helped her own brand's sales, we doubt any amount of cheerleading on her part could have really turned Princy jeans into a must-have item for an increasingly fashion-savvy teenage market. After all, who wants to slip into something inspired by creepy dad/manager Joe Simpson's pony-like sweetheart name for his number one meal ticket? Then again, the problem may have have also lay with the back pocket stitching: a J and S running through each other like a giant, cursive dollar sign, surrounded by hand-embroidered hearts that read, "Princy Wuvs Her Daddy!"

Australian papers Here and Here are reporting that producer Andrew Vajna (yes, I know what that word looks like) may actually, finally, be ramping up for TERMINATOR 4.

Vajna’s extensive credits range from RAMBO: FIRST BLOOD PART II, TOTAL RECALL, and JACOB’S LADDER…to special little films like I, SPY and BASIC INSTINCT 2.

The best news of all? T4 is being characterized as a “real” sci-fi picture. The film’s screenplay is written by John Brancato and Michael Ferris, who scripted CATWOMAN, FEMME FATALE, and THE NET – all of which makes the duo’s involvement with a “real sci-fi film” something of an oxymoron.

But, to be fair, they also wrote TERMINATOR 3: RISE OF THE MACHINES – which Vajna produced as well. Personally, I thought T3 was far better than it could easily have been - although, it wasn’t great by any means. I respect the ending of the film, though; took a bit of courage to go that direction. While Judgment Day pretty much had to happen at some point in the TERMINATOR mythos, I was surprised The Powers That Be let a film go out on that note (as opposed to beginning a movie with it, for example).

No word yet on Arnold’s involvement, but they’re thinking about shooting in Australia – hence this news coming from Australia.

Sonic Youth Tour With Pearl Jam, Rock "Gilmore Girls"

Busy day for Sonic Youth!

Pearl Jam continues its longstanding tradition of inviting bands much, much cooler than they are to tour with them, as it was announced today that the second leg of PJ's summer tour will feature not only Sonic Youth, but Robert Pollard, filling opening duties. Onward, to the MGM Grand Arena!

As previously reported, My Morning Jacket will join Eddie Vedder and his crew for the first part of their stadium-oriented U.S. stint. Then, Pollard will fill in for a couple shows, followed by, yes, Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers, for four performances. (No, Tom Petty is not opening for Pearl Jam; they seem to be co-headlining.) Sonic Youth will bring things to a close with a seven-show run.

In other Sonic Youth news, Sonic Youth's upcoming record, Rather Ripped, is scheduled for a June 13 release courtesy of Geffen (the vinyl lands on the band's Goofin' Records). But you knew that already.

What you didn't know, and what Billboard.com has just reported, is that Moore, Kim Gordon, and their daughter Coco will appear on the May 9 season finale of "Gilmore Girls". Apparently, the trio (with Coco on "shakers"?!) will play an acoustic version of the Rather Ripped song "What a Waste".

It's official: "Gilmore Girls" is now the coolest show on television. Sorry, "Aqua Teen".

Interested parties can also tune into Air America's Marc Maron show tonight, where Moore will reveal more about the album. A few weeks prior to Ripped's release, Matthew Stearn's 33 1/3 series book analyzing SY's 1988 classic, Daydream Nation, will be published by Continuum Books.

Finally, Thurston has been tapped to curate All Tomorrow's Parties' Nightmare Before Christmas festival, taking place this December in England. So far, the only acts announced are Sonic Youth and Iggy & the Stooges, but can you really fuck with that? No.

WINDHOEK, Namibia — Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie are staying at a secluded Namibian beach resort, surrounded by tight security, prompting speculation their baby will be born in Africa.

Namibian media reported that immigration officials confirmed the stars and five other people, including two children, arrived in Walvis Bay Monday morning on a chartered jet from Paris.

Pitt's publicist, Cindy Guagenti, said on Jan. 11 that Jolie, 30, is pregnant with the actor's child. It was unclear when the baby will be born. A call to Guagenti's office by The Associated Press on Friday wasn't immediately returned.

A judge in California since granted a request to change the names of Jolie's two children to Zahara Marley Jolie-Pitt and Maddox Chivan Jolie-Pitt to reflect that Pitt intends to become their adoptive father.

Pitt, 42, and Jolie, who co-starred in the 2005 film "Mr. & Mrs. Smith," have rented all 14 rooms and suites at the Burning Shores resort, a luxury boutique hotel on Long Beach north of Walvis Bay and near the famous dunes of the Namibian desert.

A private security firm and local police officials cordoned off the area and threatened to confiscate any cameras, Namibian media reported Friday.

New York's Attorney General, Eliot Spitzer, filed suit today against radio operator Entercom on a good old fashioned charge of payola. The company allegedly took payments to play songs by Liz Phair, Jessica Simpson and Avril Lavigne, in the last case playing one of her songs 109 times in one week. The practice of payola isn't much different than a website or product buying links from a popular website to fuel traffic and higher search engine rankings. In both cases it's unseemly, but ultimately the seller pays for this by auctioning of its credibility, or whatever it is that made it popular. The decline of commercial radio stations, flogging bland top-40 "hits", suggests that such consequences don't just work in theory. Spitzer, in his statement, noted that payola harmed listeners because song selections aren't based on artistic merit. This is true, but prosecuting consumer-unfriendly practices only encourages creative ways to get around the law. With many competing entertainment options available, letting businesses harm their own product, seems like punishment enough. Of course, playing an Avril Lavigne song 15 times a day might still be worthy of an investigation.

Well I did heard TBWMFW a lot of times a day on the radio everyday on last summer

I always lament that even though I live very close to all the places you see on Good Eats, and shop at most of them pretty regularly, I never see Alton Brown when I am out and about. Well, today was my lucky day!

Where were we that he was buying culinary neccessities for his show? The local Army/Navy surplus store, of course! When we met him, he asked what we were doing in said store and I confused him by telling him how my corgi needs a helmet. He was only more amused confused by my explanation that I have five cats and my pup needs all the protection he can get (actually, Ein commando crawls behind the giant pillows/cushions on my couch and we decided he clearly was having Nam flashbacks, but I digress...). AB showed me his motorcycle helmet (he was on a lovely BMW bike) and said that would be better than the one I had, but might be too big for my dog!

Anyways, he was very cordial and didn't mind at all when I called out, "Hey, can I bother you for minute?" He's pretty much just like his tv personna, which only made him more awesome to me! Hahaha, I just wished I hadn't had to meet him the day after I got out of the hospital aka looked like POOP. Also, sadly, I didn't have a chance to ask him what he was getting at the store, or a chance to tell him to bust Rachel Ray in her mouth for us...
