Subject: My dilema with FIRING Pixie.. What should I do?
Body: These have definitely been some of the toughest months for me, but THIS month especially has been a doozy!
Lots of the REAL life issues that have come up, (a lot of which you guys will see in the upcoming new episodes of LA Ink), have been pretty life changing. Dealing with my divorce, running the shop, hiring and FIRING people, weeding out "friends" that I thought were sincere and ended up showing their true colors, have all been heartbreaking.
Not to mention the recent rumors of a pregnancy that were taken from a joke gone way too far, when in reality, my physical health was definitely at stake. I recently went through I rough Cancer scare. I think when you get news like, "Hey, guess what? You might have a tumor, or better yet, CANCER!" It really makes you rethink a lot of what's really important. And what better timing than the holiday season, right?
Fortunately, I went through some gnarly surgery, and things are looking up, but unfortunately, it took a lot outta me, and I haven't been able to be a part of everything the way i want to, so its been tough. I'm feeling way better now, walkin' around, tattooing a lot more, spending time with friends and family, BUT the show must go on, and its been super difficult balancing my personal life and my role as a business owner.
For me, I have always been a strong believer in surrounding yourself around your good friends.. Last year, I just about fired everyone on my team, and hired my best friends and family, since it was real hard to trust those around me. Everything always seems to run smooth in the beginning, but I think people get too "comfortable" at times, and then blows up in your face!
Tonight's episode is gonna be one thats quite sensitive. It always is when it comes to hiring your friends, and bringing them into the workplace.
Pixie and I go way back, and when I hired her we both agreed that it would be a lot of work, but in the end would pay off, and would most likely make us way closer, but after leaving her with a lot of responsibility, SHE TOTALLY LET ME DOWN. A lot of people might think I'm a pushover... some say I'm "too nice", and I have to disagree. I try my hardest to keep faith in those around me, and hope they'll step up to the plate and take care of their shit. It's just such a f*ckin let down when they don't.
If you get a chance to catch tonight's episode, please let me know your thoughts. Do you think I was too rough on her? Do you think she respects me not only as a friend, but a boss? What would you do?
Sorry to vent on you guys like this, but I'm sure a lot of you can relate..
I love you all,
Kat Von D
And OBVIOUSLY, to see what went down, watch tonight's episode of LA Ink, on TLC at 10pm.
