Hogan Family Retains Attorney

CLEARWATER - The family of wrestling superstar Hulk Hogan has retained a high-profile Clearwater attorney after Hogan's son was involved in a high-speed wreck that left a friend critically injured.
Attorney J. Kevin Hayslett, whose specialties are criminal defense and driving-under-the-influence cases, confirmed late Tuesday that he is representing the Hogan family but declined further comment.
Hogan's son, Nick Bollea, 17, was driving a Toyota Supra Sunday night when the car veered off Court Street and struck a palm tree, Clearwater police have said.
"Everything that happened … was because of excessive speed," Clearwater police spokesman Wayne Shelor has said.
Bollea was treated and released from Bayfront Medical Center, but a passenger in the Supra, John Graziano, 22, remained at the hospital in critical condition late Tuesday, a hospital spokeswoman said. Graziano, a Marine, returned from Iraq last year, family members have said.
Bollea has not been charged in Monday's wreck. Investigators continue to piece together what happened, Shelor said.
Bollea has been cited four times for speeding since he got his license in July of 2005, according to records from Florida's Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles. In two of the cases, adjudication was withheld, the records show.
In Osceola County, he was cited for traveling 106 mph in a 70 mph zone, the records say. Pinellas County court records show that on August 10, he was cited for traveling 82 mph in a construction zone while workers were present. The posted speed limit on that stretch of U.S. 19 was 45 mph.
A court date in that case has been set for Sept. 10.
