beyonce blatantly thieves music from lesser known foreign artist.

la genie by amine feat. la fouine(sorry, i couldn't upload the song...just click "la genie" on her myspace)

naughty girl by beyonce for comparison

so upon hearing this rai song in my french class...i thought it sounded oddly familiar. i guess donna summer wasn't the only person she ripped off in the song. oh beyonce, y u so ~original~.

I'll be the first to say that I don't like Beyoncé but how are we to know which song came first? It's not like this person filed a lawsuit so the only semi-evidence we have is myspace. And gee, we all know how reliable myspace is.

Umm try again. WHy did this person wait until 2007 to make this claim? Naughty Girl came out in 2003. PLease sit down or come harder. Her beef should be with whoever produced the beat.

Right, because Beyonce has NEVER ripped off another artist before. **cough Stevie Nicks cough**

Which Beyonce song ripped off Desiree? I don't listen to Beyonce so I'm just curious. I always loved that Desiree song.

I might be wrong, but I think that she covered "Kissing You" but didn't get permission first, or something like that.

she covered it, but changed all the lyrics around without permission, and then put it on the rerelease of bday without clearence

?

Destiny's Child sampled Edge Of Seventeen with full credit. How exactly does that constitute ripping off?

*Not even a Beyonce fan*

Stevie Nicks was in the video for that song. you can hardly call a sample, endorsed by the artist, a rip off.

I haven't heard the other person's song, though it probably was stolen. But I despise Beyonce and felt like posting the fact. The end.

has amine been making music before they created their myspace? i just checked on itunes and beyonce's dangerously in love came out in 2003, whereas amine's myspace was created in 2006 so maybe they just sampled her on that track?

i tried to translate the about me section, but didn't really get too far with that. ha

The about me section doesn't say anything about sampling Le Genie...doesn't mention Beyonce at all so that's not help!

i know, but i saw a few dates in there which i thought might be them stating what year they started and stuff, since they mention 2003 a few times.

it's not like Beyonce really has much to do with the writing of the music that she performs. this was probably a producer's mistake/shady business. also, is it possible that they used a sample, legally? I mean, it's not like most pop artists go out of their way to tell you who they're biting, but everybody is.

At least this just shows that Europeans, and specifically French, "steal" music from Americans, and it's not always the other way around. But it's surprising that they would choose someone like Beyonce, who is so well known, to rip off.
