So how many people here have participated in the Free Country USA Triannual Race To The End Of The Race (Dah Dah-Dah!)?
I ordered the whole season in advance. I finished the first episode, and unlocked extended play.
My computer is so "slow" that I can't even play at native res full-screen. I'm still sticking with it for a while longer though. |

New Schedule Well, I negotiated my new schedule up at work. I didn't get a whole lot of choices, but I found something that might work. I can change it anytime.
I now work 1pm to midnight, on Friday through Monday.
Yes, those are 10 hour shifts, and full weekends.
But, it's only 4 days a week, so I'm saving a bit of gas there. Not that I really need it. But it gives me a 'three-day-weekend' every week, at least, where I'll have access to all the places that would be closed or overcrowded on the weekends.
I'm told I can ask for schedule changes anytime. My 'availability' is still set for 24/7, and I'm stuck with it for two more months. During that time, if necessary, they can make me work any shift. |

I think my "Dollar Tree" wings are just about ready. Just about the only thing I need would be perhaps some kind of cover for those unsightly wing nuts holding the wings to my harness. Then I'll be ready to take the costume to its third appearance at the Northland Jubilee.
If you're in the Columbus area the afternoon of August 23, be sure to come out and see me. The festival lasts from 1pm to 4 pm. The church is located at 4099 Karl Road in Columbus, three traffic lights south of Morse Road. And until then, please pray (or do what serves you for praying) for cool weather. I want to stay out a long time with my adoring public.

Bad advertising So, I had some sliders last night.
They're not sliding very well.
If they're still with me when I get off work I'll try to get a laxative or something.
Sorry if that's TMI. |

Congratulations, Political Right, you voted for this DHS confiscates laptops, cell phones, all electronics, and all papers and writing for indefinite periods at their whimDenying basic rights is just another day at the office for DHS/TSADHS thinks we're all terrorists nowThis is the consequence of reactionary thought. 9/11 my ass, we've set criminals over us to keep us safe. Yeah, I feel so much safer with fake police taking peoples' belongings and holding people without reason. "Some of our officers aren't respected"? Try respecting the people you deal with! Oh, right, even former military and commercial airline pilots are on the lists of terrorists these days. Just like you or I probably will be soon enough. Yes, these lists and databases are growing that fast. "DHS says Real ID will prevent identity theft and terrorism." Yeah, right. What it really does is let everyone with the merest hint of authority (including commercial entities) put their finger in the pie and pluck you out. To quote ginmar, herself military: When my company came back from Iraq---in uniform----we got stopped by TSA assholes at the gate back to the plane who stopped us and demanded we take off our boots, our belts, and and our overblouses. We'd just spent thirteen months of our lives fighting 'the war on terror' and here were a bunch of polyester-clad, 1/5th criminal by percentage, and useless buttwipes telling us that they had to search us becuz, you know, a US soldier is extremely likely to become an Al Qaeda agent within minutes of setting foot back on US soil. Oh, yeah, and they pulled aside our sole black interrogator, a twenty-year US citizen with an Arab name, and announced they wanted to ask him 'some questions.' My CO, a kind man but no one's fool, asked if he could take pictures of this process, as the guy they wanted to interrogate had matched wits with Saddam himself and won. When it got to be my turn to go through the metal detector, I looked at the TSA dude, who was trying to look macho, and said, "In the war on terror, we're the professionals, you're the amateurs."Why don't you just go read Bruce Schneier's blog? He's an expert on actual security, as opposed to the appearance of it. I'll close with four quotes from Benjamin Franklin, inventor, patriot, fellow founder of my nation: They who can give up essential liberty to obtain a little temporary safety, deserve neither liberty nor safety.Sell not virtue to purchase wealth, nor Liberty to purchase power. There never was a good war or a bad peace. Our new Constitution is now established, and has an appearance that promises permanency; but in this world nothing can be said to be certain, except death and taxes. |

Caption this picture! For the morbidly curious, that pic was used on a paper tray liner at a Burger King at an airport. The original blog post about it can be found over here. And yes, *what* is Burger King thinking? Pickles do NOT perform body cavity searches on onions! |

School and hair cut Tomarrow, I'm going to be starting my second year of high school. Whoop-de-doo. I'll be joining Honor's English, but will be taking Algebra 2 and Biology with the awful freshmen though. I got a haircut today too. I don't know whether I look like a full-blown dyke or a classic rockstar. I look anything but Anna, that's all I know. Current Mood: blahCurrent Music: ZERO- B'z |

It's Imperial Fleet Week in San Francisco! Whoever made this had WAY too much time on their hands. But it's a job well done.
I'm unsure if they created their shaky camera footage or used pre-existing footage. |

Nothing like loosing your phone line... Well, about 20 till 8 this morning, I heard a KER-THUD-WHAP. Apparently, the trash truck snapped the main line for my phone, as well as my dad's. Fun Fun. Well, they just got it fixed, so I'm back on the Interbutts, whee. Now, hopefully I don't have ANY problems with the phone line again for a few years, as the tech ran a whole new line from the junction box to my box and my dads. So, back to World of Warcrack. Moar power So, at about 4:30, power came back on, two hours after it went out. I had resigned to going to bed early, so I would probably wake up without need for an alarm clock. Before I did, I sat in my living room listening to the last of the audiobook Cat's Cradle, by Kurt Vonnegut. I'd heard some loud bangs from outside during this time.
Since I had no AC, I had opened the windows. Outside was the flashing of yellow lights. I was overhearing one side of a power tech phone call, or so I assumed. He was talking about A and B and C. I didn't pay much attention.
Last I heard was "Okay, try A now" before the lights came back on. "A is go, moving on to B and C now" I overheard as I rushed over to hug my booting PC.
Ten minutes later, there was a bright flash of light outside and a loud bang, and power was out again. "Oops" was what I overheard.
During the time power was on, I wasn't able to connect to my server. I hope it's not damaged due to power fluctuations. If it is, I wonder if my renter's insurance covers that.
Pulsing yellow lights, stillness, and silence are around me as I try to sleep again, after unplugging both my computers. |

Power outage Power just cut off here for the 6th time this month. I guess I've been lucky so far, as usually it's while I'm out at work.
This time, though, I was home and cooking dinner. I have an electric stove, so dinner's cancelled. I was using the microwave as a timer, so I don't even remember how much time was left on the chicken. I set the oven to *off* anyway, and I'm leaving it in for a while longer, just to see if it'll get more done, before I open it and check. If it's not, then I guess it's a trip to White Castle or something. Mmm, sliders.
And I realized I have little to do without electricity. I've got my DS, but I can't put anything new on it. I've got some books, but I've read them a hundred times over, and it's hard to read by flashlightlight anyway.
I guess there's always going to bed early. But no temperature controls and no white noise in the background might make that hard.
I saw some utility trucks outside just now. I think I'll go pester them. |

Hospital bills, parole, open doors to madness... I want one. But I don't know which. D: I've been wanting the Hello Kitty one for MONTHS now. Seriously. The record one we just got in recently at Target, so I know it'll be there for a few more months. But..but...I want a new tote. o_o I need to wash my breakfast face one. I loves it so. <3 Payday seems so very far away. ;_; Is there anyone who really watchers David Letterman for, uh, Letterman himself? I really can't stand him. I think he's old and completely unfunny. I'm only watching him tonight because David Duchovny is on. Leno wins like a million times over, and so does Conan. :V slkjhgsklfdhgkldfhkldhgklaghfdlghklfdhga klfd GOOD GOD IT HAS FINALLY ARRIVEDIt makes my pants happy in many ways. :V :V :V :V Man, this entry has been sitting in my LJ client for, like, two days now. I just haven't had anything to write about. I've been sleeping a lot. Wishing I had money and being generally lazy. It's been pretty bad. :/ I'm so so so sick of eating pork chops. Because it's the only meat we have in the house. It's sub-par pork chops, too. Like, really cheap ones. Ugh. And I'm pissed because I finished the milk off yesterday only to discover the mashed potatoes need milk. In my defense, I'd been buying the instant ones that you only have to use water with. But, still, I wanted taters. ;_; So apathetic. D: I hates it. TJ wrote SCAAAAARY Tony/Pepper crackfic. I cannot share it. But it made me go like this: 's;dkjhfklshdgklsdhklg' and flail my arms a lot. Guess what I found? So, I was looking at a problem and thinking I might go point-by-point on it, or maybe come up with a grid and score it across the grid. And that made me wish I'd learned more about Game Theory. And that led me to checking out the local university's website to see if they had classes in it (they do, oriented toward students taking a business degree) - but the top article? Was basically a link to http://www.gametheory.net/So I checked it out. A site all about Game Theory, for educators, students, and geeks alike. Now we're talking! |

A good day to be alive Today my manager assisted me in getting Ohio temp tags for Frankentruck. I now have 30 days to get an emissions test, physical inspection for title transfer, and some scratch to pay for the plates. Which reminds me, insurance should be due any day now, and I have yet to notify them of the new address. But at least I can legally drive it again after being a week expired on the Colorado temp tags. We also got some good paint and sanding stuff from Home Depot for my current projects. I haven't spoken much of what I am working on. I am simultaneously working on two of these, one a twin size going to San Fransisco and the other a full size going to Baltimore. This model is over a year old and the new ones will be using what I've learned since, plus a little creative flair. My goal was to complete both at the same time this Friday, but I have to set aside Baltimore's for a few days so I can get San Fran's done for a September 1st arrival date. Baltimore's should be done by Monday, then I have a half-finished Mission crib I can complete by the following Friday. So three cribs in three weeks, including setup in a new location and continued experimentation with new procedures. Not a bad turnout. Tonight I will be able to dry-fit the headboards to insure proper assembly before taking them to the new finish shop. The finish shop is in my manager's shop 20 miles from where I am, but he's better equipped for it than I am. The new procedure is more time consuming but should guarantee a far better painted product than anything I've turned out before. Most of the day, I had been feeling quite relaxed and at peace with myself. The weather was perfect. I shared a good dinner of meatloaf and mashed taters with my host family. I'm up for a laid-back evening of relaxation, but there's work left to be done. |

It's A Scary Thought! There was a time when Cleveland, Ohio was actually a real city, full of life, excitement and opportunity. It was a place people went to leave behind the small town stuffiness and disappear into a crowd where nobody cared who you were or where you came from. Those days are long gone and Cleveland is now fading into a dying midwestern obscurity. New Orleans got flooded out of existence and Cleveland will be foreclosed out of existence as nobody wants to live there anymore. Anyway, don't ask me when this post card dates from. If I had to guess it might be from 1930 or so. That would sound about right but I didn't feel like trying to research it any further. Just not in the mood.

Almost forgot I made a new ytmnd the other day: http://flourman.ytmnd.com/I'm currently at home on my lunch break. Hopefully they'll let me go early again today. I may enjoy getting money, but goddamn is working at this bookstore not worth it. c.c Tomorrow I'm signing up to assist a class this semester, so I may very well be working two jobs for the first week or so. That'll be interesting... Current Mood: busyCurrent Music: The Hitmen - Side by Side |
