  • Aug. 19th, 2008 at 1:05 PM

I just bought one from from this site. They spell "FRAKKING" the old school way, but I mean really...it's too good to pass up.

In other news, there's no way I can go back through my f-list for an entire week, so if anything particularly noteworthy happened, plz to be letting me know. I'm a bit out of the loop.

Edward doesn't just sparkle now, he broils

  • Aug. 18th, 2008 at 7:38 AM
Heh, guess who?

In related news, apparently the release date for Twilight is being moved up to November 21 now that the new Harry Potter has been pushed back to next July. Why is this the first I'm hearing about this? More importantly, how sad is it that I'm reporting Edward Cullen news over HP news?

I want to be Larry King

Big Ball of Whine...

  • Aug. 15th, 2008 at 8:07 PM
(to go with The West Wing's Big Block of Cheese?)

Slept OMG so late today, partly because thunderstorms in the middle of the night frightened Cache, making him leap into my arms and tremble for 2 hours. As I said to someone in IM, it was like holding an 18 pound furry vibrator. Without the fun bits.

Late sleep means today's plans were fubared - was going to go get eye exam to get new glasses which are DESPERATELY needed. My arms aren't long enough anymore.

Also, doctor has not called. They said I'd get results in 24 to 48 hours. Since the test was on Tuesday, to me, that meant Wed or Thurs. Today is Friday. Basic math, yes? I called today, and no, nothing. *sigh* So I continue waiting.

On the plus side, we HAD RAIN. And are going to have more. And we're cloudy. Which means temperatures are DOWN! It's only in the 80s now! (30 C for you Canadian/Euro/Other bits of the world types) We're going down to 70 F/21 C tonight! Sweet, glorious rain, how I love thee.

Lower inside-house temp means I can do laundry! See, it's an old house - and when I do laundry, it raises temp in house, which is really bad when it's over 100 F out.

So, yeah. I'm a big fat whiney baby ;)

Love this:
Winslet: 'DiCaprio Sex Scene Was Weird'

Hollywood actress Kate Winslet felt awkward filming a sex scene with Leonardo DiCaprio for a forthcoming movie - because her husband Sam Mendes was directing.

The pair, who played lovers in 1997's Titanic, are working together on upcoming film Revolutionary Road, and are again playing a couple.

But is was during a love scene that Winslet suddenly felt uncomfortable having her husband directing the picture.

She says, "I just kept saying, 'This is too... weird.' And Leo was like, 'Oh, get over it.' And I'm going, 'Yeah, a little reminder: You're my best friend. He's my husband. This is a bit weird.'
UM, HI, HOW MUCH DO YOU LOVE THAT SHE SAYS THEY'RE BFF? This is the only Hollywood duo that I would ship in real life if Kate Winslet wasn't already married.

well I told you once and I told you twice

Oh FFS, that ridiculous Grab A Theme site is now featuring my "The Wind Cries Mary" layout in their header graphic. I find this site very frustrating. It's making me think that I should really get into converting all my layouts to WordPress myself before other people do. Egad.

I'm spammy tonight.

In other amusing news, I decided I wanted to get back into blogging on my own domain at least part-time so I went to download the most recent version of Movable Type, which is version 4.2. I started surfing around the various MT affiliated sites only to find out that the new version came out literally yesterday, which is kind of neat.

I haven't blogged seriously on my own domain in four years, so this is all very weird. I was moderately famous on the internet back then!! I even had a stalker! (Who is the reason I stopped public blogging, now that I think about it.) I suddenly feel in a very good place mentally to carve out a public space for myself again.

I thought about buying a new domain, but possibly that's overkill. I could get on the de.licio.us bandwagon now that they've changed to plain ol' delicious.com by coming up with some lame word that ends in .ca. Or I could buy my name as a domain. Or I could do both, but I don't think they have a .tz domain extension.

ETA This Font Conference video is hilarious. I particularly love Wingdings, although I must argue that Comic Sans would never save the day.
If you were to create a Venn diagram where Hamlet was one circle and Facebook was another, this would be their point of intersection.

ETA In the wee hours of Sunday morning there was this huge explosion at a propane depot in Toronto. Only now did I come across footage of the explosion and I concur with the video takers who repeatedly express "HOLY SHIT!" Wow. I didn't know the explosion had happened until I saw that my parents had tried to call me several times while I was at Ikea and I called them back. My dad was like "Have you been evacuated?" and I was like "Um.... evacuated?" I win at staying on top of current events. The explosion happened north of where I live, but apparently the evacuation extended as far south as the next major intersection north of me, so that's kinda scary.
