off_highstreet is a new community from the makers of thehighstreet!

This is a place where you can talk about anything, ask for help, opinions and advice, and basically post everything that you might consider too 'off-topic' for thehighstreet - hence the name! We encourage fashion-based questions, but anything goes - NOTHING is off-topic here.

That said, please remember... the internet is NOT a good place for medical diagnosis. If you have a problem with your contraceptive pill/any other medical problem at all, then please go and see your GP.

HERE ARE THE TAGS!
We encourage members of the community to tag their posts to help others find advice & information quickly. The current tags can be viewed here - if you're looking for something, check them first as someone else might already have asked your question! Also, if you're going to tag a post, please have a look at the existing tags to get an idea of the format you should use - irrelevant or unhelpful tags will be deleted.

What should I post here?

• Discount codes - if you're asking for or providing a discount code and nothing else, your post definitely belongs here.


• General/vague questions - for example:
  - Where can I get something that looks like/to go with _____?
  - Where on the high street can I buy a good plain white vest?
  - What should I wear to a university interview?
  - Does (insert shop name here) accept returns without a receipt?
  - Can anyone recommend a good mascara?


• Non-fashion questions - such as mobile phone/camera advice, beauty and hair tips, jobs, travel, health, music, relationships... and so on.


• As a basic guideline, if there's anything you're not sure about, or you think might be slightly 'off-topic' in thehighstreet, it should be posted here. It's a community for everything; feel free to post about absolutely anything you want!

What should I post in thehighstreet?

• Intros - introduce yourself, your style and the things you love!


• What you wore today and what you've bought recently


• Your clothes and accessories wishlists


• What does everyone think of... (item of clothing/outfit)-type posts


• Fashion discussion/debate posts - for example:
  - Which is the better fashion magazine; Vogue or Elle?
  - What's everyone's opinions of high-waisted jeans?
  - What are your favourite spring/summer trends?
  - What item of clothing couldn't you live without?

What can't I post?

• Buying and selling posts are not allowed in either community - this includes direct selling, advertising your eBay auctions, selling journals, asking other members to buy something for you or if they have a particular item for sale, offering to buy something for them, etc.


• The same goes for advertising posts of any kind. This isn't a place to promote other communities or anything else.


• Any posts that break the rules will be deleted immediately. If you keep breaking the rules, or it seems like you're spamming one of the communities, you'll be banned.


• Obviously, anything illegal or anything that contravenes the TOS of Livejournal.

Other stuff...

• Please don't cross-post the same thing to both communities.


• If you're posting a lot of pictures, or very big pictures, please use an lj-cut.


• This is a UK-centric community. As with thehighstreet, non-UK residents are welcome to join, watch and comment, but please keep all posts either universally relevant or specific to the UK.
