30 DAY SHRED
Hello,

I remember recently some of you commented that you'd done / were doing the 30 Day Shred and recommended it as a good online video. I'm on Day 6 now and finding it really good! I don't have much free time so it fits in well as it's only 1/2 an hour, and I can feel serious muscles developing.

Has anyone ever completed it? Or even started it - how far did you get? And did you lose any weight? I'm eating about 1000kcal a day, walking for an hour (to work and back) and doing the Shred, but haven't seen a glimmer of a loss yet.

Share your experiences of exercise videos!

Yours sincerely,

Mr Motivator.

Hah I just did it about half an hour ago.

The most I've ever done is 4 days in a row :( but I have started it lots of times.

I do love it though, its such a brilliant workout for such a short amount of time! :D

Ah I'm scared to stop in case it doesn't work! Think the great thing is that it's only half an hour, I find it much harder to get the motivation to do a whole hour!

I do it on Youtube, it streams as you watch it and I do it in my bedroom; you don't need much room! I can't copy and paste for some reason but search for "sms789"'s version on Youtube because it's uploaded as a playlist. Good luck!!

I was just reading reviews after getting a link from another lovely OTHS member and it sounds good. I can only find region 1 dvds though and need region 2 to be able to watch it, does anyone know if you can get it in region 2 and if so where from? Thank you!

i did it for 20 days and then stopped, and i've just started up again starting at the beginning of level 2.

i prefer level 2 to level 1, idk why but i really hated level 1!

and i didn't lose any weight doing it because i was eating 1800 calories, and a lot of junk but now i'm eating 1200 calories, and trying to eat 50 grams+ of protein. i know people who have lost a lot of weight doing it though, one girl in another community i'm in lost 4 pounds when she did it for one week!

I've noticed such a change in endurance already but I'm scared about moving up a level - is 2 really hard??

on the first day i was like I'M GOING TO DIE but by day 3 i was fine. i'm still worn out by the end of it but it only takes me a couple of minutes to feel normal again.

level 2 killed me but it's so much better than level 1 for your endurance and results. srsly i nearly fucking died doing plank jacks but it gets easier, especially if you count in your head, no movement is longer than 30 seconds most of the time so it goes reeeeally quickly!

Level 2 is much more fun, especially the cardio although I'm rubbish at that bloody plank position thing, I just kind of jump around on the last one :)

op, I did it for 12 days on and off then kind of forgot but I'm going to start again tonight I think!

haha i'm rubbish at the first plank thing where you jump forward, and i do sit ups instead of the last thing because i don't feel anything when i'm doing it so i must be doing it wrong!

I just bought the DVD and I'm waiting for it in the post as we speak!

Do you know the hand weights that are recommended to use with it? I don't have any and was just planning on using baked bean cans...

I use a couple of bean cans too! Think ideally now I'd be happy with 1kg weights though. It doesn't say which you should use so I reckon anything is fine, you might find your endurance builds and you want to go on to heavier weights though, that's what I've found. I don't think I'm enough of a gym bunny to buy weights!

if you're exercising a fair bit you should definitely be eating more than 1,000 calories a day. it'll just send your body into starvation mode. you will probably actually lose more weight if you up your cals a bit.

I'm probably eating more than that, I'm crap at counting! I've gone from a dissertation-stressed student who lives on Supernoodles and cheese to someone who can plan meals, this is what I've had today:

Breakfast: Slice of toast with peanut butter
Lunch: Salad with prawns, rocket, lettuce, cherry tomatoes, button mushrooms and light honey & mustard dressing
Supper: Scrambled egg and salmon fillet
Snacks: Banana and healthy yoghurt

And although I'm exercising quite a lot I don't feel hungry because work is ten-hour shifts at a desk so really sedentary, and I'm not really getting hungry? I felt a lot hungrier, grumpier and more sluggish living on massive bowls of pasta, that's for sure!

1000 really is not a lot of calories, sometimes you need to eat more to burn fat and build muscle etc., try eating more protein? cos calories don't mean everything

I am probably eating more, I'm crap at counting them... Have been eating plenty of grilled chicken, salmon and prawns but my job uses hardly any energy and I'm not getting hungry at the moment. I think any weight loss is being absorbed into muscle, but I look more toned, which is better anyway.

i did level 1 for seven days in a row then gave up, hml. that was like... 5 days ago or something? and i'm now two pounds heavier than when i started it HA. oh well. i'm not that bothered about weight though, i just want to tone up a bit. i'm going to try and start level 2 in a day or two, i REALLY want to get back into it

i love it, i did it for like 50 days without moving on to level 3 lol but level 2 is SO effective. i do it every now and again tho, and i can't believe how much it's affected my endurance, with other exercise too. only thing is i have quite big arms anyway so need to lose weight all over before i do heavy weights again because i built muscle quite quickly off it. i love it though, really good for when you can't be arsed with the gym too as it's like 27 mins long

Sorry I know this post is oooooold, but did you notice the changes in endurance in other areas of your life or just while doing the shred? I'd eventually like to go for long walks and stuff, but I can't really fit it in at the moment because of how much overtime I'm doing at work so I'm wondering if doing this for a while would mean I would become generally fitter as well?? :)

definitely! seriously level 2 is so hard that once you've got through it and do it regularly i feel like other cardio becomes even easier because tbh nothing is harder than jump rope followed by plank jacks. i cycle and it's definitely affected my endurance with that too, i sound like a cheesy fuck but it really helps you overcome the ~mental barriers~ that prevent you from going all the way . i still can't always get through every single exercise perfectly (the last move is still so so so so hard to get through i don't think i've ever completed it) but whatever. i tried level 3 and feel like it was kind of easier if anything

Yeah, 1000kcal a day is very dangerous and not easy to keep at.
I never eat less than 1200 calories or more than 1800 calories, and I've lost a pleasing amount of weight gradually.

I do want to strengthen my body up though, so I will be trying this Daily Shred over the Summer :)
