"This new word obviously suggests both Culture and the Occult. To me, this "occulture" is not a secret culture as the word might suggest, but a culture that is in some way hidden and ignored, or willfully marginalised to the extremities of our society. A culture of individuality and sub-cults, a culture of questions that have not been properly identified - let alone answered - and therefore, do not get a fair representation in the mainstream media.
It is a culture that has been misrepresented. Not because it is 'evil' or wrong, but because it is generally apolitical and amoral, unashamedly artistic, experimental, undogmatic, intellectual and oddly evolutionary. It is a sub-culture that is forming a question that 'reality' alone cannot answer. Which is why it makes people nervous."

The purpose of this community is primarily to share ideas in this vein of 'hidden culture'. The agenda is to look deeply, and is not strictly limited to 'occult' or 'paranormal' areas. Mass media, political arenas and cultural studies provide ample fare for studying hidden agendas/ideas. But the aesthetics and ambience being emphasized here is of a definatively mystical/spiritual bent. Please keep that in mind.
Specifically we are trying to explore the same areas that the seminal Rapid Eye anthologies did during the 80s and early 90s, and that sites like Disinfo.com and Barbelith.com explore now.
Aside from those (hopefully) open parameters, we would like this to be something of a free for all, a chance to present new ideas to each other.
Posts can take the form of websites, articles, news stories, manifestos, artwork, musick and speculations of various sorts.
Please keep longer posts, rants, and images behind lj-cuts. And of course lets keep things civil, though not boring.
