Hi! You've reached Obsessive Icons, a community created by

skellorg. We make all sorts of icons and bases, though we try to veer away from whatever silly "trends" are currently floating about.

We each have our own style, and we're all fully addicted to icon making.

Rules

Our rules are basic, really.

1. Comment. If nothing else, comment! Comments feed our souls and make us better people, as well as let us know which icons/bases are popular - so we can produce more of those popular icons. Please try to mention which icons/bases you took, by filenames, by description, by 'I took every icon on the first, third, and eighth row'. Something, please! It's so simple, and it makes us SO happy.

2. We'd love it if you credited. However, we know there's no way to make sure everyone credits. But, if you really like our icons, please credit in keywords/userpic comments. Better yet, put a link to us up in your userinfo.

3. Enjoy! There's no point or fun in making our icons if you don't enjoy them.

FAQ

What font did you use on suchandsuch icon?
Look here for the answers to The Font Question. NOTE: This post is fairly out of date, if still accurate. If you still have questions about fonts after reading it, leave a comment on the post that has the icons whose fonts you're curious about, and a designer will get back to you with a font name, if they can.

Where are the contests? I can't find them anywhere!
As of May 1st, 2007, the OIcontests were moved to their own separate community. You can visit it any time - it's

oicontests.

Can I use this icon on my journal?
This question pops up surprisingly often. Unless it's one of our personal icons (the ones we have by our name when posting), the answer is YES!

Can I customize your bases?
Another question that pops up surprisingly often. Although a lot of people (myself included) often use bases as textless icons, they were originally around in Icon Land solely for the purpose of being customized, so - yes, edit them however you'd like.

I want an icon! How do I upload userpictures?
First of all, read LiveJournal's FAQ. They have a section on userpictures that outlines how to upload a userpicture. If you are still confused after this, comment on one of our posts outlining exactly what you do not understand. I will attempt to explain, and then add it to this section. Because, you know, I really can't think of different ways you'd still be confused after reading LJ's FAQ.

Can I use one of your icons on my DJ/xanga/other site?
The answer is also yes. We'd love it if you link to us whenever/wherever you use our icons, though. :)

I want a customization of a base/I have a request!

Sure! Just make sure you have a link to us up in your userinfo/affiliates page (button below), then comment on this entry with a link to your community, asking to be affiliates. We'll place your link up shortly.

Why don't you number your icons/bases? There aren't that many, and it'd make it easier for me to tell you which ones I took.
Grar. Seriously, this question makes us VERY hostile and cranky. If there are more than eight icons, then there are most certainly too many to number. I spend at LEAST five minutes on a base and almost always more than that on an icon; and trust me, it adds up. If you can't manage the energy to C&P the filenames when you save the icons/bases into Notepad and then into your comment, well. *shrugs*

How are the bigger posts memoried/tagged?
This was never asked, but I thought I'd add it, just in case. ;P The really big posts (usually base posts) that have a wide array of topics are hard to add to memories that're limited to only five keys words. These posts are usually marked by 'lots', 'misc', and 'random'. If you want a wide array of bases, try one of those topics. :) With the addition of tags, you can search for bases with more specific terms. Currently, the list of all the tags we use can be found here. We're working on incorporating it into the style.

Can I have posting access?
We really did not think we had members thoughtless enough to ask this question. It distresses us that we do. No, you cannot. Only nine people get posting access -

First, if you added one of us (

skellorg) as a friend on our personal journals, it's entirely based on the individual whether or not they add you back. Please respect their choices. :)

Second, if you added the community (obsessiveicons) as a friend, great. But, being a community, we can't add you back. Joining the community would probably be a better thing to do. :)

Request Guidelines

Want a base of ours customized, or have a request? First, take a look around the community. Look at the newest 20 posts, or check in the memories. Getting an idea of our style? Good. Please make sure you know and like our style before requesting.

Have you looked at the community and decided you still want an icon? Great! We have a post devoted completely to requests. If you want to make a request, you MUST comment on this post and not on another, as your request will never get done if it is elsewhere. There are detailed rules in this post, as well as request forms for specific icons. You must read the rules if you expect your request to be filled!

Note: We are all very busy people. When we fill requests, we're doing you a favour! Keep this in mind when you make a request, and be polite about it! Also remember that your request may not be filled immediately. Our other priorities always come before requests.
