Hey there! I realize that this community isn't the most active, but I'm just curious as to whether anyone has any Los Bravo mp3s? I've fallen in love with them after hearing "Black is Black":

i saw the animated movie 'fritz the cat' and i remember it having cool music...
and one of the guys was in a psych band called "The United States of America" that put out one album

anybody know where i could download that and/or the Fritz the Cat OST? (apparently the OST doesn't have the instrumental tracks which i'd like to hear)

Hello, I've never introduced myself. I love psychedelic 60s and my boyfriend and I collect rare psych records. I'm 19 and from socal. I think that Os mutantes are one of the best bands ever so I uploaded their first album just in case someone wanted it. If anyone has any requests I can upload other things if i have them :) I love this community! I wish more people would upload rare bands.

A relatively obscure Romanian pop/folk musician. She has created a number of rare and interesting albums and worked in the film industry as an actor and as a score writer. She has a most wonderful voice and it can barely be expressed in a few words. Her style and panache needs to be heard and enjoyed.

The best way to describe this album is that it's one of kind, and in more ways than one. A group of guys got together after work at the Pink Grass studios, which actually was the home of one of the members, had some beers, picked up their instruments and had some fun, and it all sounds that way throughout the recording. This is as zany and different as anything I have ever heard. And in a weird kind of way, it's really good. These guys could actually play very well together. Most of the first side of the album is covers, and interesting ones to say the least. The Kinks, The Byrds, CSNY, and The Zombies, are given their due with inspired, although real different versions, of their songs. The originals on side two are out of the ordinary as well.

100 copies were originally pressed of this album so it was an ultra rare find indeed. Bonus tracks are added to make it even more appealing to the collector.

It's whacky, spaced out, and fun, and that's enough for me to justify giving it a spin and to keep it in my collection. Keep in mind this music was made for those of you that are footloose and fancy free at heart, so if you're very serious about perfection of sound and clarity in your music, this will come as a disappointment, but if you can appreciate hearing accomplished musicians have some fun then this will be enjoyable for you.

Though Les Rallizes Denudes, also known as Hadaka no Rallizes, were one of the earliest and most revolutionary Japanese psychedelic rock bands, and have existed off and on through four decades, they are also one of the most obscure, barely known even in their native country. This cult of noise-terrorists shrouded themselves in mystery, seldom touring and releasing very few records, usually with no discernible label. Their sound presages the later psychedelic experimental noise of Fushitsusha, High Rise and others in the current crop more than any other Japanese psychedelic group from the late '60s.
Revolving around guitarist and vocalist Mizutani Takashi, Les Rallizes Denudes formed in November of 1967 at Kyoto University, inspired by Exploding Plastic Inevitable-era Velvet Underground as well as the over-amplified rock of lue Cheer. By 1968 they were gigging live and even began a regular collaborated with an avant-garde theater troupe, which ended the next year because of Les Rallizes's penchant for extreme volumes of sound. Not only did they use massive amounts of feedback at loud volumes, their stage shows used strobe lights, mirror balls and other effects for a live experience that was a total sensory assault.
The group also aligned themselves with radical left-wing politics, performing at the front lines of student demonstrations against Vietnam and even the student occupation of Kyoto University in April of 1969. One original member, Wakabayashi, was involved in the Japanese Red Army hijacking of a flight to North Korean, known as the Yodo-go incident, and because of Mizutani's own connections with the Red Army, the group's gigs became more infrequent and clandestine. The band didn't record much in the studio, and the only music of theirs to come out on vinyl at this time was one side of the double LP compilation Oz Days Live released by Oz Discs in 1973. In fact Les Rallizes kept going throughout the '70s and '80s without releasing a thing, and then suddenly they put out three CDs of archival recordings in 1991, and a video the next year. Of these, the double CD/LP '77 Live highlights them at the top of their form, with 10- to 20-minute tracks of intense guitar feedbacks and drones over repetitive rhythms and heavily distorted vocals.
Les Rallizes played their final gig in October of 1996, nearly thirty years after their inception. All their albums were released in very limited quantities, and are extremely difficult to find with collectors grabbing them up immediately when they show up in stores and catalogs. Because of the group's reputation for secrecy and violence, as well as the difficulty in tracking down their recordings, Les Rallizes Denudes has taken on an almost mythic status.

Beautiful and exact official vinyl reissue of the debut 1969 album by the UK duo of Rod Edwards (Jade and The Piccadilly Line) and Roger Hand (Piccadilly Line) Never before issued in the UK this is beautiful whimsical record of lush harmony pop rock with progressive/psych tinges. The music can perhaps be compared to the more orchestrated moments of Kaleidoscope and Fairfield Parlour and was produced by George Martin during time off from working on the White album. George contributed some stunning string arrangements to Edwards Hand. An undiscovered treasure of an album. Taken from the master tapes.

Quatrain - Quatrain (1969) (US Psych)

Reissue on CD of one and only album by this USA psychrock band originally released on the Tetragrammaton label in 1969

They were from L.A. with a line up consisting of drummer Jim Lekas, bassist Buff Lindsay, rhythm guitarist Eric Pease and lead guitarist Don Senneville. Quatrain was one of the first acts to sign with Bill Cosby's Tetragrammaton label.

Released in 1969, Quatrain teamed the band with David Briggs in the production/engineering role. With Lekas credited with the majority of the dozen songs (Lindsay and Senneville both contributing one effort), the collection offered up a decent mix of conventional hard rock ("Fragments" and "Early Morning Company") and modest psych-influenced numbers ("Unconquered Islands" and "Flowing Robes"). In spite of the fact the band lacked a truly distinctive lead singer (all five members sharing vocal duties), the shortcoming was somewhat compensated for via lots of tasty guitar (check out the meltdown rocker "Black Lily" and the introduction to "Canyon Woman" ... wonder why they faded the song out once the vocal track kicked in?). Interestingly, the standout tracks included the one outright psych number ("The Tree") and the LP's most atypical offering. "Fields of Love" would have made a dandy top-40 single.

Loss of a psychedelic icon

Ok, so this is more mainstream, but...

On Friday, July 7 2006, Roger Keith "Syd" Barrett, passed away of complications stemming from diabetes. He was 60.

Pink Floyd fans around the world mourn Syd's death.

According to CNN:

""Syd was the guiding light of the early band lineup and leaves a legacy which continues to inspire," the surviving members of Pink Floyd -- Roger Waters, David Gilmour, Nick Mason and Richard Wright -- said in a statement.

They were "very upset and sad to learn of Syd Barrett's death.""

Hi there!

I'm new to the community and excited to learn of even MORE psychedelic bands to check out. Ever since winning an iPod last Halloween, I've been hooked on expanding my listening experiences (and my mind through those new listening experiences).

I also just created a community for everything psychedelic (not just music) called tune_in_turn_on as well.

I've been downloading stuff that is part of a few compilations and have had pretty decent success so far, but I've had trouble finding a couple of tunes to complete a compilation:

"Me My Friend" - Family

If anyone has these on .mp3 and is willing to share, I'd GREATLY appreciate it. I'm not sure if I'd have anything to offer that anyone wouldn't already have, but I'll do my best to see if there's anything you're looking for in exchange.
