Voting time, guys! I accidentally miscounted the number of entries that we have for this week (blame that on a medication-induced haze, heh), so it's one less than I thought. However, 16 icons is still a pretty awesome week for us! Thanks so much to all who entered - your contributions are very much appreciated, as I never cease to remind you. But I say it because it's true! And if I may wax slightly personal for a moment, I have to admit that seeing all the lovely icons has brought a lot of joy to me in what was otherwise a week pretty devoid of good stuff - as did your messages on my last post to this comm. So, thanks for that as well. :)

Now, to voting.

Late reminder is a day late - sorry, guys. I've been going through some really rough stuff in my personal life this week and as such haven't been online nearly as much as usual, nor have I been able to coordinate with [info]artphilia to install our new layout. Anyway, in my absence the comm has been doing awesomely - we have 17 beautiful icons entered thus far, and more are still welcome, of course. You have until tomorrow, Friday, July 10th at 10:00 p.m. Eastern Daylight Time, and you can submit entries to this post when ready. Thanks! :)

Time for the next challenge, everybody! This has been a popular theme in the past, and as it's quite a bit simpler than last week's, I thought this would be a good time to bring it back. Have fun! :D

~ THIS WEEK'S CHALLENGE ~
This challenge is similar to Challenges #44 and #47. Below is a thumbnail of a screencap from a deleted scene in Revenge of the Sith - one that I dearly wish had been left in the film! In the RotS novel you can read about an apartment meeting between Obi-Wan and Padmé, taking place just before he leaves for Utapau to hunt down General Grievous, and it's pretty awesome for us shippers. I highly recommend you check it out if you can! But in the meantime, we can icon this single cap from the DVD's deleted scene.

The overall idea is to take this picture and make as many different icons out of it as possible. You'll be allowed to submit up to the usual 4 icons, and you may do whatever you want with the provided screencap. Use filters, colours, black and white, text, whatever strikes your fancy! Just make sure that you use ONLY the provided picture. As I said, the idea is to get as many different icons as possible out of one picture, so go as crazy as you want with cropping, effects, etc. Looking very forward to seeing what everyone comes up with!

~ THE RULES ~
- You can submit up to a total of 4 icons.
- Obi-Wan and Padmé must appear in the icon.
- You may use only the screencap provided above. All other images are prohibited for this challenge.
- Effects such as creative cropping, filters, colours etc. are encouraged!
- Text is not required, but you may use it if you wish.
- If you're unsure how to submit your icon(s), please check the submission guidelines in the community profile.

This challenge ends Friday, July 10 @ 10:00 p.m. EDT (Eastern Daylight Time).

Number of Entries: 16

Got an idea for a future challenge? Awesome! Submit it to the suggestion post and it will be used in the weeks ahead.

05 July 2009 @ 08:39 pm
All icons submitted to Challenge #61 are under the cut, along with the artists' names. Simply write a comment with the number(s) of the icon(s) you're snagging. Be sure to right-click and save, because hotlinking is evil, steals bandwidth and may lead you to the Dark Side. ;) Artists, feel free to check this post every so often if you'd like to know who's snagging your icons. :)

Sorry about the late posting, everybody! Real life kind of got the better of me today and I haven't been able to get to the computer until now, heh. But even though it wasn't the busiest of weeks here on the comm, we still got some amazing entries, and we now have ourselves some winners to congratulate!

Before we do, though, I just wanted to share with you guys some good news - the community will soon be getting a new layout! A few months ago, [info]artphilia offered to design a layout especially for [info]obidalastills. It's now ready, and it looks absolutely awesome! We're still coordinating a couple of things, but I expect that this lovely new layout should probably go live on the community at some point this week. I'll be posting a notice when it does, so keep a sharp eye out! I know y'all will love it. :D

Now, to our winners! Banners will be made this week by [info]shadadukal. :) I also haven't forgotten about the Challenge #60 banners - I just have to email [info]kicho14 with the winning icons, as she was having difficulty accessing LJ, and she'll get them up.

THE ENVELOPE, PLEASE )

Congratulations to all our winners, and thanks so much to everyone who entered and voted! The snag and credit post will go up in just a moment, as will the next challenge.

All righty, I think we can finally proceed with voting on this challenge. :D There are 9 awesome icons for you to pick from, which is still less than I'd maybe prefer to hold a voting round with, but I definitely understand how real life and so forth can get in the way. And this was quite a tough challenge. Once again, I promise I will give you something simpler for Challenge #62, and I apologize if I sounded a little hysterical in the reminder post this week. I just get kinda worried when I extend a challenge and there's the exact same number of entries that we started with, heh. ;)

Now, let's get to it!

Happy Canada Day to all the Canucks in the community! I was out for most of today, so late reminder is late, but we definitely seem to need it since as of this writing, there are still only 5 icons entered. I'm getting kinda worried here, guys. >.> The deadline is this Friday, July 3 at 10:00 p.m. Eastern Daylight Time, and we really can't hold voting with five entries by two people. We just ... can't. That would pretty much defeat the purpose of an icon contest. I did get another person saying that they would enter shortly, which is AWESOME, but if at all possible I'd really appreciate some more entries. I do like to set difficult themes sometimes, and I guess this one is proving kind of hard, but I promise I'll give you folks something easy next time. We just need to get through this one first. ;)

Entries can be submitted in here when you've got them ready. Thanks muchly! :)

Sorry, guys, but I gotta. :( We only have 5 icons entered to this week's challenge, by two people, and that is not nearly enough to hold voting with. So, you now have until next Friday, July 3 at 10:00 p.m. Eastern Daylight Time. Please submit your icons to THIS POST when you've got them ready. Thanks muchly! :)

24 June 2009 @ 10:32 pm
Time for your weekly reminder, folks! It seems to be especially needed this week, since as of this writing we only have 1 icon submitted. Yep, that's right, just one, so I'd really appreciate it if you guys could enter a few more by the deadline of this Friday, June 26 at 10:00 p.m. Eastern Daylight Time - real life permitting, of course. ;) Icons can be entered in a comment to this post when you've got them ready. Thanks so much in advance! :)

I'm running a little late tonight, guys, so I'm afraid the theme introduction may not be as long or as verbose as you're used to - but as always, feel free to ask me any questions you have about the theme and I will get back to you asap. :)

~ THIS WEEK'S CHALLENGE ~
I saw this theme recently on another stillness comm, and it really intrigued me so I decided to bring it over here. The basic idea is that this week, your icon(s) must show water in some way, shape or form. Whether it's Padmé posed by a lake or waterfall on Naboo or Obi-Wan drenched after his Kamino trip, water must be visible in the work that you submit. I've provided some screencaps under the cut to give you a better idea of what I mean, but you are free to choose others if the spirit moves you and so long as those caps also have the couple drenched in water or next to a body of water (or in a rainstorm).

10 screencaps under here! )

~ THE RULES ~
- You can submit up to a total of 4 icons.
- Obi-Wan and Padmé must appear in the icon.
- Water must be featured prominently in the icon - i.e. Obi-Wan and Padmé next to a body of water, swimming in water, wet from water, etc.
- You may use the above screencaps if you wish, but other images are permitted so long as they adhere to the aforementioned guidelines.
- Effects such as creative cropping, filters, colours etc. are encouraged!
- Text is not required, but you may use it if you wish.
- If you're unsure how to submit your icon(s), please check the submission guidelines in the community profile.

This challenge ends Friday, July 3 @ 10:00 p.m. EDT (Eastern Daylight Time).

Number of Entries: 09

All icons submitted to Challenge #60 are under the cut, along with the artists' names. :)

Late winners' post is slightly late, but I was being lazy this afternoon, heh. As I mentioned in the voting post, this week wasn't the best we've ever had, but there was still a lot of really great work entered, and I tip my hat to the artists for that. :) Thanks are due as well to everyone who voted - I'm really pleased with how voting totals have risen ever since I kind of had to panic and remind you guys about it, so that's encouraging to see. My gratitude goes out to entrants and voters alike!

Now, here are the winners of Challenge #60. Banners will be posted this week by [info]kicho14. :)

THE ENVELOPE, PLEASE )

Congratulations to all our winners - especially to the artist who won all three of our number placings! - and thanks again to everyone who entered and voted! The snag and credit post will go up in a moment, and I'll post the next challenge a little later tonight.

Thanks for your submissions this week, everybody! We have ten terrific icons to vote on for our sixtieth challenge, and while that's a little short of the totals the comm has gotten over the last few weeks, it's still right on the cusp of what I will hold voting with. So, let's get right to it! And Becca, if you could post the banners for Challenge #59 as soon as is convenient for you, that would be awesome. Thanks! :)

Reminder time, everybody! Your icons for our sixtieth challenge (um, WHOA!) are due this Friday, June 19 at 10:00 p.m. Eastern Daylight Time, and you can enter them to this post when they're all shiny and set to go. Thus far we have 4 excellent icons submitted, but as they're all by the same person, I'd really really appreciate some more entries if at all possible! Thanks in advance. :)

Time for the next challenge, folks! And yes, for those of you keeping score at home, I did thankfully find another screencap resource, so that's all taken care of. :) This week's theme comes courtesy of a suggestion by [info]shadadukal.

~ THIS WEEK'S CHALLENGE ~
For this week's theme, we will be focusing on a side of Obi-Wan and Padmé that we see quite often in the Star Wars films - the couple as fighters. Not fighting with each other, mind you, but fighting to defend the Republic that they both love so much. Since the movies are, after all, called Star Wars, there are many scenes in which Jedi and Senator take up arms against Separatists, Sidious, other assorted Sith, and those seeking to destroy the Republic. In this challenge, we'll pay homage to that.

I've provided eleven screencaps under the cut, but please feel free to find your own if you aren't inspired by those pictures. The only stipulation is that both Obi-Wan and Padmé must be holding weapons in your icon(s) - in Obi-Wan's case, a lightsaber or a blaster, and in Padmé's, a blaster (since as far as I know, there isn't any situation in canon where she has wielded a lightsaber). Beyond that requirement, it's up to you - text or no text, creative cropping, effects, etc. Be creative, and have fun!

11 screencaps this way )

RULES
- You can submit up to a total of 4 icons.
- Obi-Wan and Padmé must appear in the icon.
- Both Obi-Wan and Padmé must be holding weapons - blasters and/or lightsabers.

This challenge ends Friday, June 19 @ 10:00 p.m. EDT (Eastern Daylight Time).

Step 1: Create a wonderful website that has screencaptures from all three Prequel films. Step 2: Fail to renew that site's domain when it expires. Step 3: Profit?

Yes, as you may have guessed, I have run into an unexpected and rather hair-raising difficulty: the site on which I have relied for Prequel screencaps since this community's inception, EwanCaptures.net, seems to be totally gone. My suspicion is that the domain itself has expired, since every time I try to access the site my browser claims it can't be found at all.

The moral of the story is that I am currently scrambling to find Prequel caps for you guys to use for this week's challenge. I have a bunch of them stored on my computer's hard drive, but they're totally out of order and would probably take weeks for me to organize properly. I'm going to start on that as soon as I can, but the lesson here is, I suppose, not to rely on one single website for your screencap needs. It's one I will take well to heart in the future. For right now, I will try my absolute best to find caps, but I wanted to let you guys know that the posting of tonight's challenge may be a) a bit more delayed and b) with caps of lesser quality than you all are used to.

I am so, so sorry, folks. As I said - trying my best to mitigate this, and where there's a will, there's a way. ;) The community isn't going anywhere, and I'll post up Challenge #60 as soon as I can. That's a promise. :)

ETA: Crisis averted, thanks to some rather advanced Google-fu and the kind assistance of [info]aubreys_master. :) I still say it's a shame EwanCaptures.net is gone, as it was the most convenient site, but ... oh well. That's the way of the internet, I suppose. ;)
