Village Housing
Does anyone know anything about the new Union St. apartments or village housing in general, i.e. how many spaces there are going to be for people to live in village housing? Is there somewhere to find information about the layout of the new apartments? Because the ResLife website is really unhelpful, and I'd like to know more before deciding where I want to live next year.

138 beds in Union Street.
Add in the beds in Firelands, the Woodland street housing, and the varous houses on Elm, Pleasant and others that the college owns, and willage housing comes to 310 beds.

Floor plans and artist sketches will be on the website soon, so I'm told. All the RA's we're told about them today, ask them about it.

Or, because I have no life, I'll sumarize it here. There are 11 to 12 units, each holding 12 people in 3 4-person apartments. The buildings are three stories tall. The first apartment is on the entire first floor, consiting of a kitchen, bathroom, dining room, living room, and four lockable bedrooms. The upper two floors are split in half, creating two 2-floor apartments, with dining/living rooms, kitchens, etc on the 2nd floor and the bedrooms on the 3rd floor.

Hey Marshall, do you know if you have to sign up as a group of 4 or if you can do it individually? And what is the class limit- only seniors and juniors?

I believe it's only open to juniors and seniors. All of the houses except for one will be done as group housing so you will need a group of 4 people. There is one house (that will only hold 12 people) where you can sign up as an individual.

yes, except for the one house that people can sign up for as individuals. If you have a group of four, then it can be co-ed

there are artists' renderings and floor plans on display in the res life office @ stevie-griswold.

marshall--you were close--132 beds. and there will be 3 QUIET houses, limited parking, and laundry in the basement of the middle house. no other houses will have basements.

How much will village housing cost, relative to an OSCA double? And will financial aid cover any of the difference?

The costs have yet to be determined (they will be set this weekend) but it appears they will be slightly more expensive than Firelands was this year, which is certainly far more than a double in OSCA. As for financial aid, I am looking into this matter.

Why don't we put all the different figures on OberWiki, and work this out there. I think that would be easier to process, and less ephemeral, than these various threads on LJ.

I've started a page here: http://www.oberwiki.net/index.php?title=Housing_Questions

Gotta run to class, so it's really incomplete so far, but whatever you have to add, please go ahead and do so. And maybe someone could post something about this on the main LJ community page, for those who aren't lurking around in this thread.
