Tappan Fire-Pit
Does one have to get any sort of special permission to use the Tappan fire pit? Or can we just roll on by and start a fire whenever we feel like it?

You definitely need a permit for that. I unfortunately can't recall how to go about obtaining said permit, but I'm pretty sure you can get that information if you start asking around in Wilder--lots of student organizations love to host bonfires, so those details have to be somewhere!

You need to fill out a form in the Student Union Office-it's Wilder 111, I think-the room right across from the first merit ATM on the first floor of Wilder. They're open till 4:30. Talk to Kathy Drennan (who's amazing) and she'll point you to the right form.

Along with chatting with Kathy (who I agree is The Awesome), you will need to get a fire permit from the Fire Department (Main Street and Hamilton road) and check out a fire extinguisher from the Facilities Building. And you will need to supply your own kindling. It is a bit of a process, but usually worth it.
