Okay, the last thread filled up before I had a chance to respond to this comment:

Don't worry. Chances are like 3000 to 1 I'm not talking about you. And just to make you feel better, I live in non-traditional housing (as in, not a regular dorm). If you need it narrowed down more than that, I will, but I'd prefer not to 'cause now I feel mean...

Is it bad that I get annoyed instead of sympathetic whenever someone on here posts a long soliloquy about the torrent of emotion they feel when they cut themselves? I mean, intellectually I know they have a problem, but on a stronger, more superficial level, I think that their cries for help are totally self-indulgent and emo.

On the last thread, someone suggested that there be some kind of signal that you're up for giving/recieving random hugs. And other people were putting themselves out there on the thread - offering hugs, conversation, advice, personal ads platonic and otherwise...

So here's the proposal: let's have some system whereby people can signal that they're up for meeting strangers.

Like, in Stevenson maybe there could be a little flag you put on your table that indicates - feel free to sit down next to me, I'd love to meet someone new! Or there could be a pin you wear, or a facebook group.

And there could be various levels of commitment - anywhere from soliciting random emails to random hugs to random sex (there seemed to be some interest in that too).

There are way too many unhappy lonely people at this school (obviously). And its also obvious that a lot of people want to meet new people, but it's really hard to do that after orientation. Let's change that!
