Terremoto, i morti sono 179. Diecimila gli sfollati.

Dopo il sisma di magnitudo 5,8 della scala Richter l'Abruzzo è in ginocchio. Aumenta il numero dei morti, dei feriti e degli sfollati. Bertolaso: ''E' la peggiore tragedia da inizio millennio". Napolitano alla popolazione: ''Vi siamo vicini nel vostro dolore''

Proseguono le ricerche tra le macerie a l’Aquila e negli altri centri abruzzesi colpiti dal sisma di questa notte; finora sono oltre 170 le vittime accertate, 1500 le persone ferite nei crolli, centinaia ancora quelle disperse e il 50% delle case inagibili. Il numero degli sfollati nel frattempo dovrebbe aver raggiunto quota 100 mila.

A L’Aquila, dove ci sono almeno 15 morti, è crollato un intero piano della Casa dello Studente (che ospitava circa 80 ragazzi)

...una delle situazioni più drammatiche è da segnalare a Onna, una ventina morti, dove il 90 per cento delle case è stata devastata e una parte della montagna è completamente crollata; a Paganica, 6 morti, con il centro storico completamente distrutto, a Tempera, a Castelnuovo Calvisio, dove l’intero centro storico raso al suolo, cinque vittime, Poggio Picenze (cinque morti, tre bambini e due mamme). In molti paesi come Santo Stefano di Sessanio, Castelvecchio Calvisio, San Pio, Villa Sant’Angelo, Fossa, Ocre, San Demetrio e i centri dell’Altopiano delle Rocche, sono distrutte moltissime abitazioni del centro storico, mentre presentano danni costruzioni più recenti e anche in cemento armato.

BFI in full bloom as it reaches 75
Orlando Bloom, (pictured near left with director Gurinder Chadha) Jaime Winston and Emma Watson turned out to celebrate the 75th birthday of the British Film Institute at a Southbank gala.
Paul Greengrass, director of The Bourne Ultimatum, made an edgy speech urging support for a proper national film centre to be created in Britain.
The BFI is seeking another £48 million of government cash - even though it has already given an extra £25 million on top of annual funding.
But more could be done, Greengrass said. Speakers included Liberty boss Shami Chakrabarti who introduced a film on Tibet prior to the Chinese takeover. Other guests included Leslie Philips.
Orlando Bloom said: "I've been making films for 10 years since I left school and a lot of them have not been taking place at home. But I just want to be involved in great British film. The BFI is a great place to start.
