Mac OS Install CD

I was wondering if someone could help me with this. Does anyone out there still have their Panther/Tiger/any mac OS install CDs? My ibook G4 (that runs Panther) just broke down and after going to the Genius Bar at the Apple Store, I found out that I would need to reinstall all the software that came with the computer, using those CDs. Other than that, my computer will be braindead. I tried looking for copies online, but I can't find anything under $50, which is what it would cost for me to go back to the Apple Store and have them do it for me. I also e-mailed ITS to see if they have a spare startup CD, but doubt they can help with that. So if anyone out there would be so kind as to let me borrow their mac OS install CD for an hour or so, I'd really appreciate it. My computer is completely useless without it (it won't go past a certain gray screen). I'd get the CD (s) from you in whichever way would be easiest for you and I could bake you cookies, make some phonecalls, buy you a burrito or something like that in exchange for your kindness! Thanks for anything, guys...!

I posted this in the NYU community also.

Doc Rock: A Concert Benefiting Doctors Without Borders

Tomorrow, Thursday, April 5 is the first-ever Doc Rock concert to benefit Doctors Without Borders. We've been working for a long time to make this happen and we're sure it's going to be a great show for a good cause. The concert is going to feature three great local bands--Lime Street Morning, Ippazzi, and The Downtowns--with sounds varying from classic punk rock to rap.

Doctors Without Borders is a Nobel Prize-winning international independent medical humanitarian organization that delivers emergency aid to people affected by armed conflict, epidemics, natural and man-made disasters, and exclusion from health care in more than 70 countries. A private, nonprofit organization, Doctors Without Borders was founded in 1971 as the first non-governmental organization to both provide emergency medical assistance and bear witness publicly to the plight of people it assists.

The show will be taking place in the Rosenthal Pavilion on the 10th floor of the Kimmel Center (60 Washington Square South, along west 4th street), with an amazing view uptown. The show starts at 8 PM, with doors opening at 7:30. Tickets are $7 with an NYU ID, or $12 otherwise, and they'll be available at Ticket Central on the second floor of Kimmel, or at the door (I strongly suggest getting them at Ticket Central, though, so you don't have to wade through a possible crowd to get tickets.) If there are any questions, feel free to drop me an IM or email (my info's in my LJ profile.) You can also check out http://www.firstgiving.com/docrock for more information or to donate. (Or look us up on Facebook--you might've seen our ads running for the last few weeks.)

And be sure to tell your friends! It's gonna be a really great time; you won't regret it. And don't worry, there'll still be plenty of time to go drinking afterward.

Thanks!

- Jon

So, I have one more year here at NYU, and I currently live in Stuy Town. Of course, the rents are increasing at an insane rate (over 10%) and I will be moving out and trying to find a cheaper place, probably in Brooklyn for my senior year. I don't know much about Brooklyn, other than that Williamsburg is nice, but pretty expensive. Could anyone give me some info about some great, safe areas to live in that still have affordable rates? Thanks so much.

This is cross-posted in both NYU and NYU Housing.

In fact, Max believes the movie's message underscores the ultimate futility of romance. But just when Max begins to suspect that the movie is ruining his love life, a girl (Sara Downing of TV's "Roswell") who seems to be the modern incarnation of Annie Hall herself turns his world topsy-turvy. Meanwhile Max's friends—including Kim Murphy ("24"), Brian Klugman (Can't Hardly Wait), Jay Paulson (Go), Todd Duffey (Office Space), and Rini Bell (Jarhead, Ghost World)—must confront their own difficulties with the opposite sex.

This dark romantic comedy transcends homage as an original, unflinching, scathingly funny, bittersweet satire of modern love in the media age.

See ya at the theater!
_Randy (Mack)
co-writer/co-director/producer
Armak Productions

*********************************************************

Has anyone taken East Asian Politics with James Hsiung? If so, how exactly are his midterms structured? I know he mentioned it's identification, but how long should each topic be? And what even constitutes a topic? Will he say define the Communist Part of China or go into more detail about specific policies, events, etc? If only his lectures were coherent..... Argh.

Ideally I'd like it somewhere thats 18+ or doesn't card at the door (rather at the table/bar), but I know those are hard to come by. Also, I'd prefer it if it was in the East Village area, since I live on 14th and 3rd.

Thanks guys!

Willing to trade Coral for Water. Too good to be true, but true.

This was a much longer post, but I want to make things sweet and simple because I want lots of people to read it. ;)

If you are female and currently a resident of a two- or three-person suite at either Water or Cliff, I want you to trade places with me. I live at Coral Towers. My room is cozy and close to everything. Of course, you just moved in and you probably don't want to move again in two weeks, but I'm willing to negotiate a possible moving arrangement which will make your life a lot easier.

You'll get Coral, and an easy move. There's nothing wrong with the room; I'm just requesting a switch for personal reasons. All I require is that you have a considerate roommate who does not host parties. (I don't care if they party elsewhere, just as long as they can live peacefully and considerately with someone of very different habits.) If interested, contact ser284@nyu.edu as soon as humanly possible for details. And if you're NOT interested, tell your Water Street friends to read this post -- they might be!

x-posted to nyuhousing
