Anyone have any experience with the Tisch Open Arts class, Topics: The Motown Legacy? Just looking for a filler and easy A. Plus, it sounds kind of cool.
Also, I'm trying to decide between going abroad sophomore spring vs junior fall. And between Paris and Florence. Thoughts?
Can anyone recommend a good Chinese language program or course in New York?
Sorry this is not directly NYU related, but I thought some J-Rock loving NYU students might be interested...
Anyone here want to see the Japanese band VAMPS at the Fillmore theater?
I have ONE ticket I bought for $45 and am willing to sell for $35.
The show is THIS SATURDAY, JULY 11TH.

hi! i'm from singapore and i'll be coming to nyu (steinhardt) as a freshman this fall. i was wondering which airport would be the best to arrive at? i'm trying to book air tickets now. thanks in advance! (:
My friend is looking to fill his bedroom in a 3-bedroom in Williamsburg, same block as the Marcy Ave JMZ stop (one stop to Manhattan). $800 for the room, it's the biggest and easily fits a full bed, desk, dresser, and has a decent closet. The room also has the only access to the backyard space, with grill.
He has a cat that he's taking with him, the other 2 roommates (both male, early 20s) don't have any pets. I'm not sure if they're ok with another cat moving in, but it's worth asking.
The room should be open by Sunday night, if anyone's looking for a quick move-in date!
Here's the original craiglist ad and link so you can email him directly. This is pretty much all I know about it. Plus a nice living room with 2 couches.

We have one bedroom available immediately in a three bedroom/one bathroom apartment in Williamsburg. The apartment is located on S 5th St and is on the same block as the Marcy Ave J/M/Z train stop, one stop away from Manhattan.
There is a private backyard, and the available room has sole access to it. The apartment is on the ground floor and shares the ground floor with one other unit. The upstairs apartments have a separate entrance. This is the largest room in the apartment, and it will be unfurnished. The deposit is $800.
One of the roomates works for a documentary company in New Jersey and keeps a 9am to 6pm schedule. The other is a full time student. We like to keep the apartment clean. Occasionally we like to hang out at the apartment and have a few beers, sometimes we venture out into the city. This is a good group of roomates.
Utilities are usually higher in the winter, usually not more than $200 a month, this is split 3 says. They include electricity and internet.
I've been waiting and waiting for this situation to fix itself, but it hasn't so I figure it's time to find out about other people's experiences.
I took a 4 credit internship in Gallatin this past spring semester and received an Incomplete on Albert. I emailed my adviser, and he said I most certainly earned an A and the people who post grades are just too slow to put them up.
I've had grades take a while to get posted before, though, and every time it's just left as **** or whatever.
I'm worried that my adviser isn't aware of something or didn't turn in something? Should I contact the registrar or whatever? I don't really even know who I would contact other than my adviser, which I already did.
I just want this fixed because if I need my transcript for future internship applications or whatever I don't want to have an incomplete in a place where an A should be.
Thanks for any help/advice!
i basically bombed out of Elementary Chinese I. i withdrew halfway through the semester. now i don't know what language i should take. it should be noted that i'm in Steinhardt, so it's just one semester of a language. i'm a media/culture/communications major.
+ i took latin and spanish in high school but i remember NONE of the spanish. my last spanish class was in junior year of high school and i'm a rising senior.
+ i'm really not married to any one language. i just spent a month in Paris doing NYU's grad program there and i'm kind of interested in French. how is the French department here? i've heard horror stories about the Spanish department. is it really that bad?
+ part of me wonders if the reason i bombed Chinese was because i enrolled in a half "native" speaker and half "non-native" speaking class. would i do better in a non-native speakers class? i'm afraid to enroll in Chinese again because i don't want another W on my transcript, but everyone tells me that Chinese is a good language to know as a communications major.
i guess this is my way of asking: what language did you take at NYU and why?
I want to switch banks since Citibank instituted last year a 3% fee for using ATMs abroad, which adds up since I travel a lot. Can anybody recommend any banks with a good amount of branches in New York (preferably one with online banking) that doesn't charge extra for using a foreign ATM (aside from the standard $1 non-bank ATM fee)? Thanks!
Hi everyone! I'm taking a 6 week Intro to Ceramics class this summer and was wondering if anyone had any insight into the arts classes at NYU? I've never taken an art class before so I'm not sure what to expect - is it all "hands-on" or is there also reading/outside work required? Do you spend time outside of class on projects? Do I need to bring/wear anything specific to class? Thanks for your help!! :)
Hi everyone, I'm a high school student looking at colleges, and so far NYU is the only one I really want to go to. I've heard a lot of mixed things about it though, so I wanted to get your opinions. I want to study education (either early childhood, or elementary, possibly special education), so I'd really like to hear from people in Steinhardt, but anyone would be helpful :-)
If you could do it all over, would you pick NYU again?
What would be your biggest complaint about NYU?
I also have a question about applying early decision. If you get accepted, but don't get what you want financial aid-wise, is it possible to back out? I heard that you have 2 weeks to deny admission, but I also heard that once you're in, you have no choice, you have to give the deposit. Any info will help :-)
