New Year's Fic Challenge 2008

About:

This is the community for the New Year's Fic Challenge for Numb3rs. This will be our third year.

About joining: There is no need to apply for a membership, because only the mod has actual posting access. None of the posts are in any way friends-locked, so friending the community is enough to be able to follow the posts. :)

Rules:

Everyone who signs up fills out the sign-up sheet. Based on your requests, you will be matched with someone else, and they will write the requested fic for you. In turn, you are assigned with another person's request and you write a fic for them. Everybody wins. :)

The minimum length of the fic should be around 500 words, so that everyone gets at least a ficlet. You wouldn't want a drabble when you have written a 5000-word fic, would you?

The challenge is slash only.

Schedule:

Sign ups start November 13th and end November 20th.
The assignments go out by November 23rd.
The fics are due by January 20th.
If there are drop-outs, the missing fics will be assigned to willing writers.
The fics go out by January 27th. Earlier posting is possible if I get all the fics before this date.
The writers will be revealed on February 1st.

Are you willing to write another fic in case a writer drops out?

You are free to list as many pairings as you want, because this will make matching you up easier. When giving prompts, think about the writer -- you don't want to give them too many details but not too few, either. A few general ideas should be enough.

Posting:

You will send the fics to me (mimm@kolumbus.fi) by January 20th, after which I will look for writers for the missing fics. I will post the fics anonymously in this community as soon as I get them all, but no later than January 27th. They will remain anonymous until February 1st. After the writers have been revealed, you can post the fics in any place you like (your LJ, other communities, ff.net and such).

If at all possible, please get someone else to look at your fic before you post it. If you can't find a willing beta, you can ask me and I'll see if one of those who have offered to act as betas fits your fic.

Important!

If at any point you know you won't be able to write the fic at all, email me at mimm@kolumbus.fi as soon as possible. This way I can make sure that someone else writes the fic for you.
