Ahh, summer... The perfect time for a day at the beach where there's something for everyone: little-kid games with pail and shovel, teen parties, beach reads, family picnics, even scientific explorations for a math prodigy as pasty white as the proverbial ivory tower. ;-)

Prompt #220 is Sand.

Spend a lazy day on the sand with our favorite Fedcakes, culminating in a bonfire complete with s'mores. Pit Nikki and Colby against David and Liz for a fierce game of beach volleyball. Send Charlie on a Middle East military consultation, or reunite Larry and Megan on a gorgeous black sand beach distant from either of their daily lives. Follow Ian or Billy (or both!) on a manhunt through majestic dunes, requiring extreme diligence and skill to track the target across an ever-shifting landscape. Put challenge couple Billy and Colby in a beachside bungalow, or let challenge pairing Billy and Liz succumb to the classic movie fantasy and make love on a cushion of cool, wave-kissed sand.

Despise your lucky co-mods if you must, but the summer weather here in California is *gorgeous*! Warm sunny days with cloudless skies, a cool breeze drifting in freshened by the Pacific Ocean... If some fanon is right (will we ever know?) and Alan and Margaret Eppes are originally from the East Coast, it's not hard to see how they'd appreciate snow-free winters in Pasadena and the lovely weather for their little boys of summer.

The Monthly Theme for July is Summer.

It's no secret who your co-mods think is their favorite Boy of Summer. (He was our Challenge Character *last* July!) But who to pair him up with... How about everybody's favorite redhead with everybody's favorite surfer boy? How about Don's ex-partner partnering up with Don's ex-girlfriend? ;-) Our Challenge Pairings for July are Billy/Colby or Billy/Liz.

So suntan Liz's tawny skin and sunburn Billy's freckles or let Wet!Billy and Wet!Colby hit the surf together with their boards - preferably sans wetsuits. /grins/ Anyway you slice it, it's summer and time to get out to the beach and have some fun.

Catalina Island is a favorite destination for SoCalers; how about snorkeling in Lover's Cove or watching the sun set from Lover's Point? Join the Eppes Family on vacation at Seaworld, enjoy spring break in Mexico with college boy Don or go down to the Jersey shore with Margaret and Charlie during their days at Princeton. Show us Colby heading overseas for his first tour of duty in the Army, city boy David trying not to appear seasick as ocean waves rock the boat or even Megan emerging like Ursula Andress from the sea complete with bikini *and* weapon during an undercover op.

Alan's waited a long time for his boys to settle down and wed. Pick a mate and make him happy. Does Billy give up the road for Don? Does Robin give up her New York job offers? Does Colby decide to buy Charlie a ring or does Amita eschew one from Charlie and wind up with a diamond from Colby a year later? Fast forward into married bliss - or not so blissful unions - where our fave N3 men make great husbands or find themselves struggling with certain marital duties. (Like picking up their dirty laundry! LOL) You can also rewind and show us Alan in the early days when he and Margaret were newlyweds. Finally, take us to the altar and let our fave couples take their vows - to have and to hold from this day forward. /sigh/

The Numb3rs100 Numbers

We capped off the last week of June with a record shattering *205* drabbles this week. (Was that an earthquake I felt? Or a ficquake?)

When the honeymoon was over we found ourselves with 1 Honeymoon fic and 1 Universe fic. A beachfront bungalow stay in Tahiti to rubynye [Heroes] for her sweet story. We also swooned over an astounding *197* past prompt fic thanks to the amazing ladygray99's A Silk Pillow universe (We here at N100 applaud your incredible achievement! /ovation/). Our gratitude and a ski chalet getaway in the Swiss Alps to ladygray99 (191!!!
