Back story:

I'm applying to get in to the School of Continuing Studies for the spring quarter. I already work on campus (in the Allen Center), and I live locally, however, taking classes here would be the incentive I need to move out of my house and into my own apartment in Evanston.

My questions:

Has anyone here successfully matriculated into the SCS and then into the day program?
For anyone in the SCS at the moment, how many classes do you take per quarter and how was the credit transfer?
Does having a parent who is an alumnus have any bearing on the admissions process (SCS or regular program)?
Finally, what is the average rent cost for a place in Evanston (including utilities, etc) for say, a shared house or 2BR apartment?

Name: Steve
Location: Morton Grove, IL (yeah, I'm a townie this time)
Birthdate: 01/01/85
Transfer Year: hopefully this one.
Previous School: NIU/OaktonCC
Major(s): Political Science(Int'l Relations)/ Criminal Justice
College: Not yet accepted.
A little about yourself: I'm 21, presently working at the Evanston campus full time in the Allen Center. I'm hoping to one day be a cop, and once I get to the point where I'm bored with it/ forced to retire, I suppose I want to be a teacher. I speak Spanish almost fluently, and I'm always striving to learn more.
At present I live at home, but I'm hoping to move into Evanston in the next few months.

i'll be living in a 2BR apartment, and the rent is $565/month. i think the average is between $550 and $750.
