basically im curious what kind of GPA succesful transfers had.
Im a freshman science major at pitt looking to go into polysci/journalism. Pitt doesnt have a journalism program, the polysci dept. leaves some to be desired, and i really like the feel and vibe of N'western. I have a tough workload and a GPA of 3.5, do i stand a decent chance?

Back story:
I'm applying to get in to the School of Continuing Studies for the spring quarter. I already work on campus (in the Allen Center), and I live locally, however, taking classes here would be the incentive I need to move out of my house and into my own apartment in Evanston.
My questions:
Has anyone here successfully matriculated into the SCS and then into the day program? For anyone in the SCS at the moment, how many classes do you take per quarter and how was the credit transfer? Does having a parent who is an alumnus have any bearing on the admissions process (SCS or regular program)? Finally, what is the average rent cost for a place in Evanston (including utilities, etc) for say, a shared house or 2BR apartment?
( and I guess I'll fill this out too.. )

Hello all,
I stumbled upon this community a few minutes ago, and wanted to ask a few questions simply because you know what I don't, and would like to.
I'm currently enrolled in the Honors college at DePaul University, and hate every blasted corner of the place (I could go into greater detail, but will spare you). I feel as though I sold out and went to the school that offered me the most finaid (damn logic), but now am fully prepared to take out immeasurable sums of money in loans while actually being satisfied with my education. What a concept.
That said, I am now in the process of applying to Northwestern, and would greatly appreciate any and all information you can give me about your experiences filling out transfer apps, doing interviews (if need be), getting credits to transfer, etc.
I feel like shouting "HELP!" at the top of my lungs, but am not sure that would be entirely appropriate.
Thank you, Kat

If anyone has any questions about transferring I'd be more than willing to help. It was a really easy process for me, and I welcome your questions, comments, or concerns. Let's see... I enjoy exploring Chicago and try to get into the city every weekend. I like the beach (although I miss the pacific ocean!), hanging out with my boyfriend who goes to University of Chicago, and other typical college things (i.e. eating out, watching movies, going to concerts, etc.)

I just thought it would be nice to have a community for transfer students at Northwestern, since the issues might be slightly different from those of an original student. Feel free to post about anything Northwestern/transfer-related!
