About   ![[info]](http://l-stat.livejournal.com/img/community.gif){kind=small} ns_stillness is a community for fans of the novel and BBC drama North and South by Elizabeth Gaskell, to take part in fortnightly challenges where voters decide which icons are the best, with iconmakers winning banners for their efforts.  1. Every fortnight a theme and screencap images will be posted which you must work from. 2. If a theme is specified you may submit any icon that relates to that theme in some way and use your own choice of images. 3. Images may be cropped, coloured, and be embellished with brushes and textures, etc. it to create a unique icon. You must use only the image given unless otherwise specified. Animated icons are not allowed. This is, after all, a stillness community. ;-)  1. You may submit the number of icons specified in the challenge. 2. Please submit your icons in a comment to the entry supplying the URLs of the icons. e.g.  http://www.photobucket.com/yourfolder/youricon.png 3. All icons submitted must fit LiveJournal size requirements (100x100px, 40KB, .jpg/.png/.gif). 4. NO ANIMATIONS are allowed. 5. Do not post your contest entries anywhere else until the contest has ended. THIS INCLUDES LJ USERPICS!  1. Votes are done in poll-form. 2. You can only vote once (this includes if you have more than one journal) and do not ask others to vote for you. 3. Please do not vote for your own icon, but pick someone else’s that you like. 4. Pick the icon that you think is the best and deserves to win. Try not to be prejudiced; that is, don't merely vote for an icon, because it depicts your favourite character or has been made by your friend. 5. Voting strategically in order to manipulate the polls, such as voting for icons that you think will lose is absolutely unacceptable. Vote fairly, and honestly. Offenders will first be warned, then dealt with in an appropriate manner. Note: You may use an artist's entry icon only with their permission and after the challenge. Participants are encouraged to share their entries by posting them in icon communities.  First Wednesday: new challenge/theme First Wednesday until the next Wednesday of the following week: submissions accepted.
