And. Um. That thing, that I said and you put your foot in the fire that one time? Yeah, that's kind of what I wanted to say, but I can't, so.
Thank you, Potter. You can't tell me at breakfast? And on the train? And at the station?
Okay. I can tell you then. And then. And then.
Just in case anyone is still out there watching..... I am having serious NA nostalgia and feel like rekindling the love in this community.
Any takers?

Here's version 1.0 of na_offline. It's currently hosted on zSHARE, Rapidshare, MegaUpload, and Badongo, via Sharebee. Here are the URLs:
http://sharebee.com/523a7d32 (selection of the following, or, if the following are dead, should reupload and provide new links)( Cut for URLs )
(Edit: I just changed the links at :48, unfortunately I made an error in the navigation bookmarking system which is now fixed. If you've already downloaded and don't want to download again, you can download just the navigation here (http://sharebee.com/1a39bb78))
To open the file, you will need the 7-Zip program.
For Windows: This can be found on the 7-Zip website, or directly from here. Once you have installed it, go to the location where you installed it (The default is C:\Program Files\7-Zip) and run the '7zFM.exe' program.
Once in the program, browse to where you downloaded the na_offline_v1.0.7zip, double click, select the na_offline folder, and extract it to a location. Then follow the instructions at Entry points if you want to start straight away.
For flavours of Unix: On Ubuntu, 7zip can be found in the 'p7zip' package in aptitute. Binaries and source code can be found on the 7zip website (linked above). Once installed (or if already installed) use the command 7z x na_offline_v1.0.7zip to extract the na_offline folder into the current directory.
Further operating system binaries etc can be found on the download page linked to on the 7-zip website above. I believe the instructions would be similar or identical to those for Unix for Mac and BSD systems.
For Mac: this seems to work quite well, though I haven't personally tested it. You'll need to rename the file from '.7zip' to '.7z' for it to actually uncompress it, otherwise it tries to compress it again! Silly programs not paying attention to header information.
( Further infospam, cut for the sanity of your friendslist! )

Well,
I know I've been promising to do it for quite some time, and I haven't yet got around to working out where to host it, or how to distribute it to you wonderful people, but I've mostly completed my offline version of N_A. Here are a few specs:
( specs )
I don't think it will be ready for distribution until sometime over the weekend. I'm still ironing out some rough edges and attempting to find images that have been lost. Which is where you lovely people (and hopefully any players who are still monitoring this community) can come in.
The list of images that I've not been able to find online is here, hosted via pastebin.ca. Unfortunately, I've not included a link to the actual post. I'll try and update it sometime. Edit: Slightly less readable, but following post:image format: http://pastebin.ca/1266391
If you have any images on your hard drive that you think might help or that match these filenames, please leave a comment and I'll try and organise a way to get them off you.
If you know any of the players who are not monitoring this community and have a way to contact them, please link them to this post, or ask them if they still have any of their images. About 50% are character-specific web hosting that has since been lost.
On one final note, I'm looking for ways to distribute this. If anyone has some web space with bandwidth to burn and FTP access that they don't mind donating to this, please also leave a comment!
I think that's everything. Long Live Nocturne_Alley!

Wow. This is the first time I've seen less than 500 people here. I suppose that's still alot since it has been nearly 4 1/2 years, so I can't be alone in feeling like this.
When NA ended I was so wrenched...I even predicted I'd be less devastated at the end of the actual series. Now that Book 7 has been digested, I can absolutely say I was correct. I don't know if it's hormones or the holidays, but I'm missing nocturne_alley terribly. Just reading the old posts here has me in tears and I haven't even made it over to the game journals yet.

Hello to all NA fans!
Did you know that the recently launched Fanlore.org has an entry about Nocturne_Alley?
Go check it out! And feel free to contribute links, history, fun moments. Fanlore is intended to be a place where fans can document their own history. And I know we all feel that NA was (and is) a pivotal piece of HP fandom culture and history. ♥
Just thought I'd let you guys know!

Eventually, the shadowy figure who placed a rose each year on Edgar Allen Poe's tomb was exposed as a prankster. Eventually, I'll probably drift away from posting a little salute to Nocturne Alley on the anniversary of its end. Eventually, all of us ex-NrAagers will look like those wispy alumni from the 60th anniversary class . . .
But not quite yet. :)
Especially since orpheusinjapan has posted a wonderful set of downloads of the entire game -- all the text, some of the pictures.
So: greetings to the old NrAged crew, and another grateful tip of the hat to the NA players!

Wow, I can't believe it's been four years! It's another lifetime. I have just uploaded the rest of the files to my .mac account. I have only formatted to the end of May 2003, however, I have uploaded the raw text for the rest of the game. All the threads are there along with most of the pictures/links/refs. I have also posted some of the Q&A's I personally wanted to save. They will only be there until August 10th, so take while you can.
Happy anniversary everyone and to both players and fans, thank you for the incredible memories this game created. It really was one of a kind.

Hi, everyone. The 2002 files are now available on my idisk account. More to come. Players posts are in black, followed by threads in response to that post. Responses of the same colour/font belong to the same thread. New colour/font means new thread. At the beginning of each new thread, you will find the post that prompted the responses in that thread. That's why you will see posts repeated, and often you might find yourself thinking "I've seen that before". I did this so I knew what the thread was in response to. You may want to delete the repeated posts. I have also changed "wehaveseven" and "percyneedsalife" to indicate the actual poster (ie. Molly, Arthur, Charlie, Fred, George).
Enjoy yourselves, but please, please remember that this was a project for my own purposes, thus formatted to print using as little paper as possible. I'm sure everyone would have had their own way of formatting, so I've uploaded Word documents. Change at will, but please don't tell me how much better it would have been to format differently. It makes sense to me and can be changed to make sense to you.
Have fun everyone!!!!

| Printable Version |
[11 Jun 2008|11:35am] |
Hello, everyone, It's funny. After almost four years, I still think about the game often. I have very fond memories of sitting in Japan keeping up to date on the game with all of you, and hitting refresh during the on line battles. Who can forget Ron's disappearing hand? The game ended two weeks before I left Japan and it was a very nostalgic time for me. I spent that summer downloading the entire game into Word files as I had this paranoid fear that the game was going to disappear forever. I went through every entry and every thread, added every picture and link that was still there, and connected threads through colour and font. I then started work and only managed to play with it every once in a while. My goal is to complete a printable version that I can take out and read whenever the mood strikes. To date, I have completed up to the end of April '03. It is in a format that makes sense to me and may not be everyone's ideal, but it's available. Now, I have no idea if any of you are still out there, (four years is a hell of a long time - and we've even had book 7 in that period) but I have decided to post what I have in honour of the 4th anniversary.
I will be posting a link where you can find the files in the next couple of weeks. In the meantime, post a reply. I'd like to get an idea if uploading everything is even worth it.
Good to touch base again!
O.

Should we mark this anniversary with a round of haiku about our fave NA memories or something?

Well, it is not quite the 30th for me, yet, but very soon it will be! I do realise that a lot of people won't actually be awake yet, especially those in America. I, myself, am actually going to bed in a few hours. So, consider chat to be on anywhere in the next 10 or so hours! The lovely xnera's bot, on AIM, is sitting in the Wibblechat room, so just send a message saying "invite me" to "wibblebot01" and it should invite you (or, at the very least, send a link to join the room).
I will be around for a while! That is, if anyone shows up.

Hello, my fellow NrAged'ers! A week tomorrow will be the mark of 18 months since the end of Nocturne Alley. We had a chat at the one year mark, and I thought we should hold a chat at the 18 month mark. I wasn't sure when to start the chat, and I don't think we really need a specific stop time. Perhaps midnight my time?*. I was also thinking we could use the wibblechat room on AIM ( xnera, is bot still around for that?).
Does anyone have suggestions for start and stop times? Does anyone actually want to have a chat?
( Time zone chart! Pretty! )
Edited to add: If you are a player and you wish to come along (anonymously, or whatever), we won't mind at all! :D!
Also edited to add: C.f. This comment by xnera. Send an IM to "wibblebot01" with the text "invite me", or, alternatively, if you are on Trillian, just select "Join Chat Room" and type in "wibblechat". If this doesn't work... well, I'll post later about it, anyway. When we decide on a time!

I'm looking for the comment threads where the twins found poetry Ron wrote about Hermione, I know one of them was about books and her throwing them at him. They were really funny and I'd like to re-read them. I think they were during the Veritaserum incident at Remus and Sirus' wedding, but I can't find it. Thanks! ;)

Hi
I recently stumbled onto Nocturne Alley and was blown away by the RPG. I was wondering if there would be any way for the entire sum of the RPG to be compiled for offline reading. The reason I ask is because, at one point or another, the NA archives and ljs *will* go down- putting them in memories is not going to stop that from happening. That's the way of the internet. I'd like to find a way to preserve the efforts of the players- and give friends and family back in asia (who don't have the same internet available here) the opportunity to read this brilliant work.
Thanks, and I'd appreciate any input.

[03 Jun 2005|01:59pm] |
*sniffle* Whoa, almost a year.
Remember back when everyone was all hyped to get NA t-shirts? I don't think anyone ever made any, so I've thrown a few together at The We Heart NA Cafepress Store. Of course, per the players' request there's no mark-up.
There are shirts and mugs and a bunch of goodies...since copyrighted images aren't allowed (and the players were so modest about giving their favourite quotes), I did plain text, with a few different messages. :)
Edit 3: I will not be able to do a quote design. If anyone else wants to do it, please, go ahead.

September of last year I started making a list of every single NA post, both by date and time of post, and while I'm not sure how reliable this is, I finally finished (okay, so there was a 5 month break in between). But anyway. I shall stop babbling now!

Some incredibly wonderful and generous people put together a list of all the nraged links for 2002 and 2003 (which I found posted here), and I have been merrily rereading. I'm just wondering now if anyone has a list of links from January 2004 to the end of the game.
If you could post them, I'd be most grateful.

And it starts! Yay! Get on AIM, ping ‘wibblebot01’ for an invite, and join the chat XD you can join in and leave anytime, it’s going on indefinitely, I’d imagine. Have fun! Reminisce! Play with bot! Remember to be nice and don’t discuss player identities, yes yes. <33!
ETA: don't forget the 5 second rule - leave at least five seconds before saying 'I'm going, bye!' so people can say 'bye' back. Exceptions only granted in the case of axe murderers or ninjas at your door, fire, and bugs crawling out of your stomach. (thanks, Andrew...)
ETA2: Durrr! I wasn't clear enough. When you ping wibblebot01, ping him with 'invite me' and he'll get you in.

Reminder all! :DD Wibblechat Reunion - starting at 5pm GMT on Sunday afternoon, which I think is 12 noon EST – use this timezone converter to check your times... and then starting on the Monday again at 8pm GMT.
Remember – ping wibblebot01 with ‘invite me’ to get in the room.
Now all I did was decide to organise this chat, am not going to be in charge or anything, or ‘modding’ or anything, heck no D: am just a t00by fangirl as much as the rest of you. I do want to make sure the chat is as enjoyable as possible though, so yeah, a couple of things that are pretty standard, I’d imagine:
--I think we should try and keep it as on topic as much as possible – I know part of the fun of wibblechat was the random tangents :D and that’s fine, but overall people should try and keep a general focus on NA, seeing as you can chat about random crap any time, haha! --and let’s keep it nice so no bashing of any type – players or other nragers or anything D: and characters too, even Lucius :P because we know from previous experience that it’s not nice for players to have their chara hated on too much :D --and of course no discussing of player identities. Many nragers don’t want to know and many players don’t want to be outed and hell, it’s always been a wibblechat rule, so yes.
So eek like I said this isn’t me trying to be chat mum or anything, hell I won’t be there for lots of it, but just reminding people of general wibblechat guidelines. I think people can self mod themselves pretty well :D
So yeah. See you then *yay*! Ready to wibblesquee in nostalgia? <33

Wibblechat reunion: will be held on the evening and night of Sunday 30th and Monday 31st January , starting at 5pm GMT (Timezone converter website...) on the Sunday afternoon and running until whenever (e.g when most people end up needing sleep :DD) and then starting again officially on the Monday at 8pm GMT – though I imagine you can hang out in there at any time :D but having official starting dates will hopefully prevent too much spread-out, and have it so enough people in at a time that it’ll be busy enough to be fun, and stuff won’t be repeated too much :P
How to actually join in the chat, if you haven’t before/have forgotten: you’ll need an AIM account if you haven’t already, sorry! Tis easy to get and use, though I guarantee your first (and second, and third...) username choice will be taken :P
Then simply ping xnera’s baby 'wibblebot01' with 'invite me' and he’ll send you a link to the chat and an invite :D!
(Sorry to anyone for whom that part was totally redundant.)
Any ideas on if we should have topics, or just general reminiscing or what, or any ideas on anything else, or any problems/questions/comments, comment away :D

Attention NA fans and wibblechatters!
maggie_malfoy pointed out to me earlier that next week, it’ll be 7 months since the end of NA. Am very surprised at self that I managed to miss the 6 month marker on January the first :(!
So I was thinking – seeing as it’s the 7 month anniversary, as it were, and I’ve always liked the idea of having a wibblechat reunion at some point, could it be then? I wasn’t a regular wibblechatter through the game, but I spent hours there near the end – primarily, wibblechatting the day and night of the final attack on Hogwarts. It was an AMAZING experience, one of the best NA related times for me, even though it was near the end. (I have still have the HUGE chat logs saved, and can remember so many moments from it – when the first post about the attack came and took us by surprise, when people couldn’t get to the posts and we were c&p’ing it into the window, our ALL CAPS for ages after various huge things happened, oh, everything). I had so much fun, even through the angst, and got to know so many people and made so many friends, that I’d love to go back, you know? So we could talk and reminisce about the game we loved so much, our favourite moments, the funny bits, the sad bits, the happy bits, everything. nocturne_alley was such a large part of my fandom life and I haven’t really thought about it in ages (I don’t like to think about it for too long because I get sad and nostalgic and don’t want to do anything except...reminisce and be sad :(...), but I just realised how much I miss it :(! I want to talk about it again.
>:o I will not cry.
So next Tuesday is the 1st February, which is pretty much 7 months after NA finished. Actually *looks at NA* the last post was on the 30th June, which makes next Sunday the actual date, but whatever – if it were to happen, I think it’d be best to pick the date around the 30th/31st/1st that suited most people.
So what do people think? Yes? No? Is 7 months too random a marker? Leave it till a better date? If yes to next week, what date is the best for people?
And if you’re interested but never wibblechatted before, that’s fine, this is a reunion of sorts but also I reckon anyone who wants to reminisce about the game would be totally welcome...
...and anyone else want to help me organise it, if it’s happening? Eep!
(Sorry to anyone on my flist who’s seen a similar post on my LJ!)
Am also pingable on AIM: tehlazydaze and Y!M: lazy_daze03. Though am going to bed soonish, being all awkward and English and sleep-needing and stuff :P
