It's been practically two weeks since our terrific last-event-of-2007, and I've just been too outrageously tired and busy to recap. I'm sorry. And now it feels too late, you know? But -- I will just say that it was freaking AWESOME.
FIRST of all, what a lineup! Barry Lyga, Jay Asher, Ellen Hopkins and Brian Mandabach?! HELLO! Here they are, with some of our NYMBC cohorts from Capuchino High:

SECOND of all, you know that feeling where there is just total energy and connectedness in a room, like, when you are at a party or hanging out with a bunch of people and you can just TELL all of a sudden that everyone is on the same wavelength and everyone is having fun and it is like total electricity? Yeah. Well, that's exactly what it was like. SO RAD, because when does that happen?! HARDLY EVER!
Finally, I would like to give myself a round of applause, because I forced all these authors to come together - and they were a brilliant combo. All very funny and smart, all played off one another -- it was terrific. I think the best point of the evening was Barry reading an excerpt from his NEXT book, which he is still writing. It was SO GOOD that everyone sort of leaned forward and gasped at the same time. Honorary mention goes to Brian's extremely elaborate autographing technique which involves multiple pens, burning wax, and some sort of incantation to the moon.
Thanks everyone for making 2007 a fantastic year for us. You will FREAK OUT when you see what is in store for 2008!!
And now I'll leave you with this, via Read Roger - Meg Cabot reenacts a classic:

And this clip of Meg Cabot... How can you not be in love with her, too?
It's like a love fest over here.

I am so jealous.
*wistful sigh*
If you're planning to top that event in '08 . . . wow.
I agree that we were in sync. Whenever Barry or Jay or Ellen answered one of the questions I was thinking, "Yeah, that's just what I think, too."
And what a great audience you drew! I'm so grateful to have met such a room full of book lovers. :D
And you'll have to make a little vid for andrew of how you sign your books - i couldn't do it justice.

Can't wait to hear about the line up for next year! (Seriously- cannot WAIT- I love nymbc. almost obsessively.)
Meg- you rock! Your reenactment skills are so awesome! Now, why don't you have your own show or something? :)
