Any means of conveyance from one place to another (other than the character's own feet/tentacles/wings/whatever). The transport must be in the image, but characters are welcome too. (So a picture of Han in the Falcon is fine, but Han in the Mos Eisely Cantina just mentioning the Falcon, not so much).

Okay, as we re-energize this comm, I'd like to see some suggestions for both fandoms and themes. With a new season starting for some popular shows, we may recycle som from last year, but there are so many new things coming out. What all would you like to see?

Remember, if you suggest a fandom, you need to provide *at least* one working, publicly accessible screencap archive URL.

So... this comm kind of died...

And for that I am very sorry. It seems that isabeau and I hit some pretty significant real life hiccups at the same time and this comm ended up getting neglected because of it.

Well, my issues have been... mostly sorted out, so I want to try and get us going again.

I know that we were in the middle of an amnesty, and I apologize for this, but I need to start us up again with something a little less time consuming.

So... in a little bit, I'm going to start us up with two new challenges - a fandom and a theme challenge that will start today and end next Friday and then we'll be back on our regular schedule.

Just a few reminders:

1.) This is notshoppedicons. No fancy effects, brushes, textures etc... All text should be reasonably readable.

2.) Spoiler policy: This comm is going to run on the US air schedule for all shows shown in the US. Once the show has aired in the US you are free to use spoiler images/text in your icons. Do not post spoilers if you are downloading episodes from the UK or Canada or reading spoiler guides that are ahead of the US schedule. Just because it was used in a promotion on the channel it airs on before the airdate doesn't matter. Please don't spoil people. If it seems like a mistake, you'll be warned the first time. If it's glaringly obvious that it's a spoiler or it's a second offense, you'll be banned.

To that end, for shows running on the 'regular' t.v. schedule - shows that had their season finale in the spring - all episodes are fair game. For shows currently airing new episodes (SG-1, SGA, Psych, Eureka, Kyle XY, 4400, etc...) you can use the episodes that air tonight (8.04.06) or before, but nothing beyond that. So the SGA that airs tonight (Sateda) fine. The 4400 that airs on Sunday (Starlz Mutation), not yet. I know it's a persnickity thing, but we have to draw the line somewhere.

Please do us all a favor, and just re-scan the rules while you wait for me to get the actual challenges up.

I seem to be good at picking fandoms that aren't all that high-volume. *wry grin*

Okay, since last time I got to torment you, it was with text only, this week we're going with no text!

Hush icons are icons with no added text. It's about cropping and image editing. Now, that's not to say that if your character has on a shirt with some text on it that you can't use it. You just can't *add* text to it. (see the icon on this post - no added text - the picture - in this case, pictures - tell all)

Once again, I remind you we are a *fannish* icon community. Tell me what fandom/s your icons come from when you submit them, even if it's bloody obvious. Pretty pictures of butterflies are fabulous, but unless they're fannish butterflies, they don't go here. Okay?

I had other ideas for themes, but given that we're pretty much at the evil Tax Day here in the US, paperwork seemed appropriate. So de-stress from taxes with a fun icon or three! Fandomy, paperwork-themed icons are all good. Non-fandomy, non-paperwork-themed icons will just get you looked at strangely.

Submit up to three icons by next Friday at 5pm Pacific time, and then we can have a fun voting thing that, if the universe is up to its usual ironic habits, will *not* end in a tie and therefore will be completed with a minimum of virtual paperwork, or at least fuss...

I got kidnapped by aliens the other day, so this week's fandom is X-Files.

Well, no, I didn't actually get kidnapped by aliens, but that's still the fandom for this week. :) Submit up to three X-Filish icons by next Friday at 5pm California time, and have fun!

All three (!) of these were submitted by panthology, who was quite graciously willing to concede 2nd and 3rd place to other entries. A.) For the first time in three months (and really, I'm pretty chuffed about that) we didn't get enough entries to run a poll on last week's fandom. So, uh, the "technical issues" I mentioned in my last post -- which I didn't want to actually name until thefannishwaldo and I had figured out what to do, since this is a First for nsi -- are that while we had a decent crop of musicky icons for the theme contest, we had precisely one person enter for the fandom contest.
