I'm not sure yet if we'll try to somehow synchronize blog posts and livejournal or what, but all the old information from the news feed will be posted to blog.notacon as well as other announcements and writeups as they come around.

So be sure to check out the blog!

Remember, CFP closes on January 31st!

Registration closes soon, hotel is getting full and bittorrents of media!

Three quick notes for everyone,

A reminder that Pre-registration closes this Friday @ 9PM EST. We are
currently hovering at around 200 pre-registrations, with the $60 block
quickly dwindling. Note that prices at the door will be $80. If you're in
the mood to save $20, now is the time!

Second, we blew well past our hotel block for this year and the hotel is
quickly booking up. If you want to ensure a room at the Holiday Inn,
specifically around all of your fellow Notacon attendees, NOW is the time to
book that room. Make sure you use the link on our website, or use the "not"
promotional code to get the conference rate. We cannot guarantee that rate,
as the block is closed, but the hotel has been generous in extending it to
late room reservations.

Finally, if you want a copy of the Notacon audio and video files, or even
just a couple, we have the full set of media archives on bittorrent. There
are currently a number of very healthy and very fast seeds. Save us some
server bandwidth and use torrents!

That's all for now. You now have 9 days until Notacon. 9 DAYS.

See you there!

- Froggy

EDIT: There will be an official Fark party at Notacon as well!!!

Notacon ad and Blockparty invite!

Hey all,

I just figured I'd let you know about a 30 second Notacon ad I put together the other day. There are a couple versions out there, the first is, of course, on teh YouTubes:

Any positive ratings and or promotion you can do with it is fantastic. Please pass it around!

There is another, higher quality version hosted on our server.

Finally, if you haven't checked it out yet, the Blockparty invite, by the Northern Dragons demo group, was released last month. Information about it can be found on the Blockparty website.

Registrations are coming in fast, and the hotel is booking up quickly. What is a demo party, you ask? To quote their site,

"If you're new to the idea of a demoparty, the concept is simple: set up a stage, invite programmers, artists and musicians from around the world to enter competitions, watch in amazement what comes out, and then hand out prizes to the best of the bunch."

Both events under one roof will definitely kick more art, music and creativity in the event and further our goal of bridging the gap between art and technology, as well as fostering a sense of community among all open-minded technology buffs.

All Notacon attendees can pariticpate in Blockparty events and vise-versa.

More information will be available as it becomes available, in the mean time, please chekc out the Blockparty website.

As an additional reminder, please note that both our Call for Proposals and
Pre-registration are open!

I hope we'll see a few of you there.

We will also be attending Defcon in Las Vegas in 2 weeks. Feel free to leave a comment if you'll be there and want to hang out with us or anything. We might need help spreading fliers and the word around, and will likely have a "wear your notacon shirt day" like we've done the last couple of years. I'll try to post more details here as it gets closer.

See you in April!

Schedule posted and consuite news!

Our first stab at a schedule for Notacon has now been posted! There are a few final tweaks we will make over the next week or so, but overall what you see is what you should expect. We are really excited about our broad and diverse selection of presenters this year!

Also, it turns out our consuite idea is taking off and many people have offered to augment the provisions we will provide (light food and beverages) with other goodies as well. Many have suggested we make it "pot luck" in nature and, well, what the heck? If you have a tasty morsel or beverage you'd like to share with the rest of the Notacon community, feel free to bring it up to the consuite.

For those unfamiliar with the consuite concept, basically it's another hang-out area we are making available to all Notacon attendees, presenters and staff that we are going to do our best to keep stocked with complimentary beverages, snacks, etc. We unfortunately can't afford to feed everyone five course meals, but if you need a quick snack, the consuite is the place to go.

As a final reminder, pre-registration closes on March 24th. If you haven't bought your registration yet or haven't booked your room, DO SO NOW. Your time is running out!

See you on the 7th!

If you have not preregistered for Notacon yet, the price is still at $50 and pre-registration ends on March 24th at 9:00pm. We've been having an upsurge of registrations lately, so we might even hit the next price group. The at the door price will be $100. (unless we hit 500 before March 24th...then there won't be any at the door)

The hotel block closes on March 23rd. I know there's still rooms available in the con block. I'm not sure how the hotel handles it if we outsell the block they set aside for us, but we can't guarantee they'll give you the con rate after March 23rd. They tend to be nice about it, but we just don't know.

I look forward to seeing everyone there. Our line-up looks great, our schedule will be posted soon. It will be a great time!
