Uh Oh, Flamingo! [05 Sep 2008|09:07am]

tyciol
In regards to this show, Owen Only's mom = MILF and Bird Brain = LILF. Certainly this is a show of high quality which I initially overlooked as dumb due to appearance. Off the top of my head, I thought the same of Inu Yasha, and probably other great ones. So I'm glad I took some time to watch it.

Of course, BB likes the Captain, and that's got to be respected. I tell ya, if there's one thing that's lovely, it's a loli in love, and if she must be smitten with someone it may as well be some neandering goodhearted shota rather than some bad boy pop star or whatever which tends to be annoying and stuff. Honestly, I wonder, if a loli ever liked me, would that also be annoying? It might... I dunno, it certainly would now, I like a loli with standards and anyone with standards would not be bamboozled.

I wonder if this is why a lot of guys treat girls like shit because they don't respect them for liking them, which is why you often have guys who are losers treating girls badly, and guys who are winners treating them well. Of course, this is not consistant, because there are some very nice losers and some very abusive winners.

This is because some people are very conscientious of trends and reject them (for example, I would like to be a nice loser, and I think I am, until I can be a nicer winner) whereas the abusive winners I guess, maybe they don't get smitten? Or maybe it's some 'hidden pain' or insanity type thing where they value nothing or odd things which lead them to exploit others? I dunno.

The museum. [04 Sep 2008|10:04pm]

amanohashi
Today I went to IMA with my mom and her friend Dave who she think is crazy but I think he just likes to shock people. Anyway, it was a lot of fun. I like the art museum a lot. There was a special exhibit there that we had to pay to see (which is why we went) but IMO it was the boring of all the stuff I looked at. The last time I went to the art museum I was a little kid so I don't remember anything and it was like seeing it for the first time.

The special exhibit was called something like "To Live Forever" and it was about ancient egypt and stuff. It was a lot of um... boring stuff. Actually, not a lot of. There wasn't even a lot there. And everything looked the same (because a lot of it really was very similar objects X_x). But there were like 400 hot guys there. I guess handsome oldermans like to go to the art museum. There was a guy who kinda looked like my OC Dr W, except instead of being elegant he was kinda like... redneck version? But not redneck as in dirty, redneck as in, humbly handsome like Mr Foxworthy lol. Anyway, he had a little less hair than Dr W but it was ok. And a great romancegrey mustache. And like he was pretty chubby, and had the most awesome shaped belly. I don't care if it's unpopular, I love guys with big bellies XD Like, my clothing fetish usually overrides my human nature to relate sex to nudity, but whenever I see guys with smexy chub, I want to see them undressed right away XD And then want to see them in nice clothes, too, but... I love naked fat guys LOL.

UMMM yeah, anyway, I kept getting sidetracked thinking of oldermans and sex the whole time I was at that exhibit, just like now LOL. Because it was such a boring exhibit, and so many hot mans.

Anyway, after looking at it we went to the nearest 'normal' (like always there?) exhibit, which was the American Art section. And like, that was my favorite section lol. I don't like paintings that much, but there were some other things, too, and it was cool. And like, I did like SOME of the paintings, like the more elaborate ones. Like one was of a city corner of Indianapolis, but of course forever ago, and there were like street vendors and horse carriages and old-looking buildings like one that said DRUG STORE on it or something. And like, IDK I think the idea of living in that type of setting is really ... romantic? Like, I fantasize about living in a city in that type of time XD But I wouldn't want to do it because I'm too comfortable with modern conveniences. But like, you know, I'd love to play a game in that type of setting. I guess you can find good steampunk settings that are a lot like that. Plus steampunk tends to have all kinds of addional fantastical stuff that makes it even more fun.

Anyway, after that, there was a special chair exhibit by this char artist. And like there were just chairs that were normal chairs, chairs that were only to be looked at, and then art made with chairs. And like, I really loved it. And I really wanted to look at all the chairs and examine them closely and read all the little cards that explained what each display was about and how it was made and stuff... but the whole time my mom and her friend were talking about how stupid chairs as art were and how they weren't art at all and people who did the art were stupid and fakes who don't know anything about art and etc etc etc. You know those kinds of people X_x; But I really liked the chair art and it made me smile but I didn't get to look long. Then the rest of the time we were at the museum they talked about how so many people say stuff is art but really it is talentless hacks saying it, and most art today is trash, and etc etc. Oh actually this started before the chairs...

But yeah my mom's friend said something like "People tell me I need to take an art appreciation class, but that's ********. I appreciate are, but that ****'s not art!!" and I was like all sad lol. Because all the stuff they were saying this about was like, my favorite stuff. Now, I agree that some random modern art is dumb to look at or something, but I think if someone puts their feeling into something and really likes creating it, and they are proud of the outcome and want to show others, I think it's art!

Anyway, so much cool chair art. Then we saw European art. They were called neo-impressionism hacky art, and some other school of art where they made very simple paintings, which I really liked because I like simple things, and they were calling that trash too. And saying this somewhat loudly for a museum, and I knew the random security people heard them all the time. And like, I know they are just security people, but if they applied at a museum to work as a security person, they might actually like art too. Anyway, most of the stuff in the european art exhibit was like... religious stuff. And like generic paintings of saints/Jesus/whatever are not fun to look at. Especially when they're all SO SIMILAR. But I really liked the um... non-painting stuff. There was a giant ... urn? and it was like... PINK with wings and stuff on it lol. It looked like something out of Angelique. I guess it could be from any random mahoushoujo thing, but it just SCREAMED Angelique to me. Not NeoAngelique though D: But yeah, then I started thinking about Victor and how he is so not a hot old man even though he's an older guy. But just how he looks like... 20, though he's supposed to be like 34 X_x; But he's still the hottest Ange character. (Seriously, I can't do anything without thinking about games and sex X_x)

There were like... watches. I loved looking at all the watches. And furniture. Especially chairs. IDK what they had against chairs. But yeah the watches were so cool.

Then we went to the 'asian art' section which was only Japanese/Chinese stuff, which is not even close to covering 'Asian Art' but whatever. Most of the Chinese stuff was porcelain which is SO BORING and then there was caligraphy, but it was random and uninteresting caligraphy. And China was like 80% of the exhibit. There was some cool Japanese stuff, but most was also boring. My mom asked me if I could read random things which were all in Chinese (on stuff that was Japanese) or calligraphy in classical Japanese lol. And most of that was boring but there were these chests of drawers and inside they had little displays, and there were ones with like... sword parts and accessories (of katana) and they were really cool to look at because of all the little crafted design. There was also some pot depicting a particular Edo period battle, and I thought that was really awesome, because I love Edo period. I didn't see anything that depicted or mentioned Oda Nobunaga though ._. Actually there were maybe 2 objects even from edo period. Lots of random like... objects from modernist period. Like a bowl that was blue. So boring -_-; Overall it was a boring section.

Then like we had been almost everywhere, except for some places that were closed off, and we didn't go to the gardens because it was raning. And then upstairs there was like... contemporary art and a textiles & fashion section. And I really wanted to go, but when my mom was reading the map to the museum she said those were on the 3rd floor, and said "Like anyone would want to see that" in a tone that was like... only idiots would want to see that "trash" and then her friend and her laughed... so I didn't say I wanted to go see it, not only because I would feel selfish making them see it when only I wanted to see it, but also because they would probably insult it the whole time so it would not be any fun.

Then there was a bar in the museum and it had happy hour when we were leaving. I didn't even know people would put a bar in a museum... so we went and my mom and her friend had beer and I just sat there and played with my cell phone antenna. And then they started talking about when I was a child, and it was really embarassing. Like, it wasn't particularly embarassing stories, but my mom told about what I was like when I was a kid, and not bragging but I was a very um... brainy/genius kid. Except not as in like my parents were proud and thought I was smart, but as in I was constantly tested and etc. and was at like... college level before I finished elementary school X_x; And like it makes me sound smart, but I really think I was just... ahead. Or something. Because like, I am really stupid now. So I guess my body finally caught up to my head. Anyway, hearing that kind of stuff is a little embarassing, but it also makes me feel proud and I'm not sure if I like feeling like that. Especially since it's about something in the past. They also talked about Disney World, going to the symphony, alcohol, and various other things. And like, it was nothing I could contribute to and I think they were just talking to each other anyway. And so I lost myself in thought and like stared at the ground or chair in front of me, because if I'm thinking, I'm not going to be looking around... and whenever I do this, people think I am 'sad.' But like, I'm just not looking around mindlessly like most people... when I'm sitting still with nothing to do I will think deeply about things.

But my mom's friend made a comment about how I looked very miserable, and so from then on out I could not think properly because I was trying to act like I was content with sitting -- even though I was perfectly content with sitting and thinking, but I had to make fake facial expressions and look around and stuff as to ... show my liveliness? IDK. But it was very uncomfortable being concious about it all the time like that, plus I couldn't just sit and concentrate on a thought any more. Now and then I was able to add to the conversation by saying small things like "I remember that" or "Yeah" or something.

But one thing I enjoyed about sitting there and them talking was that I was in the company of adults. People my age care so much about nothing, or so much about other people. But they talked about actually conversation topics, even if they were kindof boring, and talked freely and openly and understandingly and... IDK, the conversation of cultured adults is much better than the conversation of teenagers and younger adults. And I felt like I fit in even if I was kindof excluded from the conversation. So that was nice.

When we left my mom took me to the mall and we ate the Japanese food that isn't Japanese and it was really good and she didn't finish hers so I did even though I was really full, and then she didn't finish her drink, but I just couldn't finish it for her and had to throw it away. Then I got really thirsty in like 5 minutes because I'm always just really thirsty even if my stomach can't take it. I drank water when I got home though.

And that's about it. I stayed at her house last night so we could go to the museum when she got off school. And like I explained my feelings on politics to her and she started saying all these things about reforming the entire political system and yeah... it was kindof stressful to listen to and talk about. And we talked about some other things, too, but I forget. And my mom showed me pictures of her creations (BTW for people who say chairs are not art and it's stupid and only seem to accept sculptures or paintings, my mom creates art out of bread and cake and stuff... ) and it looked really cool, and then she told me about how her flowers got stolen from her (like decorative sugar flower things) and so her chef put his own flowers on there and she yelled at him because having a red one was bad artistic design and I was like "Did you really yell at Chef because he made flowers for you after yours got stolen? He was just trying to help you out when you had trouble." and she was like "BUT I WAS REALLY MAD" lol. My mom has an awkward view on things. I think she has a lot of energy.

Anyway, some of her cakes and stuff were really awesome, and there were like these cream puff swans and they were so cool. And her wedding cakes are cool too. And the cake she made for her chef when she left was cool, and um... she also made this like halloween thing and it had a grim reaper and stuff. And like, it's all very cool. Oh and there was a jungle cake. And it had like alligators and monkeys and stuff. It's weird that all the stuff is edible, and people make it just to look at. Well I guess people do eat some of it, but a lot of it is displays, and like... IDK it's just weird to just look at food. But either way, it's cool. And then she told me about how her niece like... stole some of her creations including the halloween one, and her mom like... ate one of her things XD

I played Tokimeki Memorial Girl's Side 1st Love while I was there. I decided to only take one game because I wanted to force myself to progress in a game I needed to progress in. That was a mistake. I played through Amanohashi's game again even though I didn't need to lol. But I did get his little touch crown thing up a level so now it's huge. I think that's the biggest size. It's all like super elegant and regal. If there's another size, that's crazy. I love when like, he's falling for you, and you rub his chest when he first meets up with you for a date, and he moans. XDDD I love that so much. I also love the perverted moan-ish sound he makes when you walk out in a bathing suit. Then I almost went and drew Amanohashi smut but realized by that time my mom would be home in like 5 minutes and there was no point. But yeah, it took me forever just to start playing because I so did not want to play. And all else I took was a textbook and my sketchbook. And I was frustrated because I was playing a game I really didn't want to play, but I guess it beat staring at walls.

I did start a sketch but it looks like crap which is dumb because I tried extra hard and was more careful than normal and stuff. It doesn't look worse than normal, it just looks like all my other crap. I think I've hit a plateau with my art. I have stopped improving long ago...

When I got home I had 57 emails, 20 dA comments, etc. I was away from my computer for barely 24 hours. X_x; I still have not checked all my emails. Most of what is left is um... livejournal updates, so if I don't respond to your most recent journals, it's because I'm being lazy with catching up on them right now...

I decided to get myself a couple of treats. After sorting through all these Hanna Montana and High School Musical and Turn Your Baby Into A Genius type games, I got myself Kirby Squeak Squad. Kirby's Adventure was my favorite NES game when I was a kid. Well, this game looks like it's very similar. So I must restrain myself now. I'd probably play the damn thing all night if it weren't for my time-consuming project.

Would anyone like a box of little boy's clothes? Sizes 3T and smaller. It has shorts, pants, pajammies, shirts, sweaters, long sleeve shirts. All in used but good condition.

If so, please come pick it up from me soon! You have to take the whole box.

I will take it to goodwill next Monday if no one wants it.

You'll notice that an A.D.A./D.A. is conspicuously missing. That is because the series obviously begins and ends with Sam Waterston. Also, he had different titles while serving at the D.A.'s office, and I didn't want to throw off the poll.

EDIT: SCHITT! It's been pointed out that I left off a great D.A. - Adam Schiff. Sry - fill it out in the comments if you heart him.

Today I got to live out a minor trope of cheesy family sitcoms. That's right, kiddos: I was shown and told.

Amanda had to bring an "object" to class and basically my little sister can convince me to do anything. Besides, it's not like I was busy this morning.

But, hey! I'm not a total slacker! I had to go to my old school two days in a row this week for important scholarly duties. Yesterday, this solely consisted of dropping of a stack of papers—but juuust as I was making an awkward attempt at a parallel park, a guy that I was sure had graduated with me appeared, waving. I swear, my campus is like Hotel California without all of the unintentionally hilarious couplets.

And I'll be working any day now. One of the job applications I've amassed says this on top:

Salary expected: $_____ per _____

I'm thinking $50.00 per second sounds good.

A row of three uniform bumps has appeared below my navel. I noticed it around eight AM, and in a groggy haze, I found myself wondering if Martians had invented a new stomach-based Norplant system. The bumps look and feel exactly like mosquito bites, but my belly is usually covered, thankyouverymuch. I'm convinced that there's some tri-fanged vampire out there with a lot of explaining to do.

In conclusion, I got my Who tickets in the mail!

I'm about halfway through The Brief Wondrous Life of Oscar Wao right nao (took a break from my 1001 Books to Read Before You Die, so it's going to take me 20+ years to get through that!) The author, Junot Diaz, was profiled on Sunday Morning a while back, and they treated the book as if it were the newest American masterpiece. It's really very good, but I have realized I'm spoiled with the prose of Ian McEwan, and everything after him has been a step down.

It's also really popular at the library, so the only one I could check out was the Large Print version, so it's really disorienting, and I always hear it as SHOUTING IN MY HEAD. And when people see me reading it on the bus, I feel like they might think I'm speshal.

The book reminds me a lot of a Dominican version of Midnight's Children. I feel like shouting, "I'm learning history, and it's fun!"

And I have to give him MAD props for all of the LOTR references. There are a lot. Like, more than just the ones you get from seeing the movie. This guy read the books, and probably even the Silmarillion. Righteous.

The Working Class Warrior Examines Why he is Still a Democatic Socialist in Love with Marx' Ideas [04 Sep 2008|01:49pm]

avatar39
[ mood | aggravated ]

Dave the Unitarian has been gloating all week.

“Dude, you are so on the far left. You can play all that devil’s advocate bullshit you want, but you can’t hide your true face.”

I reminded Dave that my blogs have names such as Monkey’s Wearing Pants, and Hello From Uranus so it is always a good idea to take anything I say with a grain of salt. My true vocation in life has always been to be a question asker. I ask questions of everyone I meet. But most importantly I ask questions of my self. It is very important to me that I understand what I believe and the true motivations for all my actions. I often take the opposite side in an attempt to understand them better and to, hopefully, get a more in depth look at my own core values.

I grew up in a conservative Richard Nixon supporting, Ronald Reagan loving household. My mother always took her voting queues from my father and from her pre-Vatican II upbringing. Although it is interesting to note that my maternal grandfather went from electing Republicans to Democrats after his retirement. I guess it takes a little dose of “golden years” living to understand the importance of programs such as social security and Medicare.

My mother told me I was an idiot for voting for Ross Perot. She blamed people like me for getting Bill Clinton elected. I agree my vote for Perot was idiotic. I learned a valuable lesson about throwing one’s vote away on a third-party candidate that has no chance of winning, especially after he pulled that crazy man crap. His running mate was a bit of a buffoon too.

But I wanted to make a statement as did the many others who threw away their vote on Perot. As crazy and irascible as he was – still is – he was right about NAFTA and the World Trade Organization. As much as I like Bill Clinton I still have not forgiven him for signing the NAFTA agreements. Even after George H.W. Bush left the Oval Office after one term he still had a legacy thanks to Clinton. I will never get tired of saying that NAFTA is one of the greatest betrayals of the American and Mexican working classes.

When I was in my late teens and through most of my 20’s I was a card carrying socialist. I was enamored by the ideas of Karl Marx and of Hegel whose ideas provided Marx with the idea that would become known as Dialectical Materialism (although Marx himself never actually used those two words together.) Dialectical Materialism is a complex idea but for the sake of this brief discussion we can view it as a theory of class struggle based on history, sometimes referred to as the materialist concept of history.

I had an economics teacher who said that Marx failed to recognize the growing importance of the labor movement in the form of guilds in Europe and labor unions in the United States. The labor movement here in the United States and the desire of the common person to have a more affluent lifestyle gave rise to the middle class. It is also important to understand the Libertarian Idealism that is the underpinning of the U.S. political consciousness that really prevented Marxism from taking hold in this country.

Americans as a rule would rather pursue wealth and be individuals than live in a collective atmosphere of cooperation and mutual benefit. The Best Buy commercial on television whose jingle adamantly proclaims, “I want it all, and I want it now” is near a perfect summation of American culture as any that I can come up with.

Another failing of Marxism is that it fails to appreciate the need for personal achievement. People need to have a purpose in life and goals in which to complete. I had to sound so Christian, but we all crave a “Purpose Driven Life” to some degree. This is why Marxism takes on the fervor of a secular religion. The Proletariat must be indoctrinated much in the same way a Roman Catholic or any religious person is indoctrinated so that the movement can maintain life.

Given Marx views on religion it is hard to accept the religious fervor of Communism for many people. All revolutions require something to rally around nonetheless.

We also can see that China, the last true stronghold of Marxism of any concern, is learning lessons form the former Soviet Union. Their experimentation with free enterprise is a natural progression when you finally realize that a planned central economy fails to provide people with what they need.

But that being said, I still admire Marx and his ideas are far more complex that we can give justice to in a blog called Hello From Uranus. I find nothing wrong with the notion that a government’s responsibility is to provide economic wellbeing for those it governs and help those who are unable to get the most basic needs of survival get what they need.

It’s for this reason alone that I am a socialist. I like to joke around and call myself a Libertarian Socialist, which is incongruent with the individual ideologies of both theories and therefore nonsensical. It is simply my way of saying that if I trusted human nature to be more selfless and altruistic I would prefer the live free or die approach of the Libertarians. It pisses me off to have government involvement. There is always a heavy price to pay for that.

Those of you who know me understand that ultimately I don’t believe that our political machinery will produce the true solutions needed to fix our ailing society. We need to evolve beyond our current level of consciousness. We need to become something other than we are (my spiritual beliefs are not congruent with traditional Marxism either).

We are starting to see the ramifications of life in a democratic republic. Democracies are inefficient enough as it is. But the larger your population becomes, the more diverse it becomes the more inefficient it becomes. It gets more and more difficult to achieve that coveted “majority rules” necessity to accomplish our goals. Our Democratic republic has shifted from being a government of elected officials representing the people to elected officials catering to the whims of lobbyists and special interest groups. It is a true disgrace.

But as Winston Churchill observed, all other forms of government have been tried. Despite democracies inherent flaws it really is the only form of government conceived that gives the common man any chance at justice and equality. Providing that we can keep it from being corrupted and manipulated by the wealthy and elitists among us.

The ownership of America has been transferred. It is no longer owned by the people but by the giant corporations who have created a legal system that grants their conglomerates legal status as if they were individual people. This should never be. We need to return ownership of the United States back to the people. We need to honor the secular quality of our republic and the religious pluralism that it constitutionally protects.

We need to repeal NAFTA! The evil of the World Trade Organization must be ended. Continued capitulation to the demon god of global economy must stop. This only puts American workers further in the hole. Far from helping third world economies it exposes them to the vagrancies of capitalism. In the short term lives will be improved, but the long term is where our vision should be focused.

The trade deficit in this country is a scandal. We are still the number one marketplace in the world and despite the weakening of the dollar around the world China and other countries still need to dump their shit in the United States for us to buy. We still have a lot of leverage and collective bargaining power if we choose to use it.
