Volunteer Picnic

  • Jul. 6th, 2009 at 10:44 PM
We hope everyone had an enjoyable and safe Independence Day! We also hope to see our volunteers at the Norwescon 32 Volunteer Appreciation Picnic! Please join us this coming Sunday, July 12th, at the Federal Way Steel Lake Park, Picnic site 1 (covered) from 11 am to 5 pm. We will provide beverages, hot dogs, and burgers (veggie ones, too) with all the fixings and a few sides as well. Please, if you can, bring a dish to share for 8-12+ people. If you would like to help with set up, please arrive at 10 am.

Norwescon would never happen without the volunteers, so come on down and be appreciated! You volunteers deserve it after all your hard work!

The elected officers of the Northwest Science Fiction Society (NWSFS) and Norwescon invite you to learn more about our long shared history and to a brainstorm how we can partner in the future to support the goals of both organizations.

Are you longing for Norwescon to have non-profit status with the IRS (501 c 3)?
Do you want to share your love of the Northwest Science Fiction Society (NWSFS) with others?
Would you like to attract more volunteers to Norwescon?
Do you want to bring new ideas to NWSFS and Norwescon?
Do you want Norwescon and NWSFS to have a more fannish focus?

How can NWSFS and Norwescon work together to benefit fans around the Northwest? Don’t miss this opportunity to share your ideas. The elected officers of NWSFS and Norwescon need your ideas to create a future.

NWSFS and Norwescon are part of Science Fiction Northwest (SFN), a non-profit umbrella corporation. The early beginnings of the Northwest Science Fiction Society trace back to the mists of time. Well, to 1976. Greg Bennett with a handful of friends formed NWSFS (pronounced Nizz-Fizz) so that people with an interest in science fiction could meet, have parties, do things together and at the same time provide a pool for the 1981 World Science Fiction Convention Committee. Does any here took part or just want to see other Norwescon 32 members say "They Actually Did That!" I have posted the video of that on YouTube this aftermoon.

I finally finished editing the photos I took at Norwescon and posted them to the Flickr group: http://www.flickr.com/groups/norwescon/

In my defense - it was a new camera I was just learning to use and hadn't expected to find myself in prime photo taking territory so I was a bit unprepared and, unfortunately, ran out of battery - so forgive me if I missed your Masquerade entry. Steps have been taken to make sure that isn't an issue going forward...

Enjoy!

Old laptop laying around? We can use it!

  • May. 31st, 2009 at 7:14 AM
(Copied from the Norwescon Yahoo Group)

Friends of Norwescon,

Have you recently replaced your laptop computer with something shinier, faster, prettier, smaller or bigger? Please consider donating the old laptop that you've kicked to the curb. Your old laptop deserve a chance to provide valuable service and we promise to put it to good use to replace a Norwescon computer that no longer works. Donated laptops will be used for record keeping and communication so that the 100% volunteer convention committee can plan and present Norwescon. Personal use of these computers is prohibited. Please email info@norwescon.net or respond to the Yahoo Group post if you have a laptop to donate and want more information.

Thanks,

Jeanine Swanson
Norwescon 33, Hotel Liaison

Wanted: An awesome picture

  • Apr. 22nd, 2009 at 2:17 PM
X posted from Norwescon Boards
Wanted: a really awesome picture taken of me while I was doing door duty at the Friday night dance. I was wearing a pink with black polka dots corset and a pink and black mini petticoat. The shot is really just a head shot of me licking a cross shaped lollipop. It was taken by the nun in a camo habit, who was running around with two priests and another nun. It was an awesome picture and I would like a copy. And hey, if anyone else has pics of me in the getup I'd like them too cause I made the corset myself and would like pics of me in it to show it off.
Thanks!
