Moob Mania! (FurFright News July ’09)
FurFright October 16-18, 2009 Waterbury, CT USA www.furfright.org Guests Of Honor: Tod Wills & Tilt Longtail As you wallow in the sticky armpit of summer a beastly horror approaches. Its name? McLovin. But just behind that horror is another, even more deformed horror called FurFright. It’s a Halloween-themed anthropomorphic convention run by fans, for fans. We work hard so it doesn’t suck . . . a lot. FurFright has a coveted place in history as “The World’s Largest Anthropomorphic Convention In Waterbury, Connecticut”. It’s also known as the con that doesn’t take itself too seriously. We’re 7 years old and almost 1000 attendees strong. Big enough to frolic gaily with all our friends, but small enough to be personal, intimate, and laid back. No long lines and waiting 12 hours for a toilet, just girlish tittering and shenanigans. We’ve got events and attractions like: Free Food Friday Furpocalypse (a night club with FREE food and game shows), the Dealers’ Dungeon and Artist Alley, 2 Fursuit Parades, Dances with music that doesn’t suck, Dance and Costume competitions, tons of Panels and Discussion groups, two huge Game Rooms (video and table top), Fursuit Games, the best Masquerade in the fandom, a FREE photo studio, and lotsa more! Bostonfur second saturday of the month lunch and kites.
The weatherguessers are saying saturday is gonna be nice, so the picinic is ON! WHERE: Pope John Paul II park in Dorchester. http://www.mass.gov/dcr/parks/metroboston/pjp.htm Meetup in the parking area by the south entrance, and then we stake out one of the picnic shelters. WHEN: Noonish, Saturday July 11th WHAT: Picnic lunch and kites. Bring food, bring beverage, bring a kite if you have one. There is a supermarket nearby. I'll be bringing a small gas stove and frypan, and a quantity of burgers, buns and condiments. The park has lots of grass (which might still be soggy from all the rain), some picnic tables and parking. There is no running water in the park, and there are porta-potties up at the other entrance a short walk away. Bring beverages to share, ice for chilling, food for sharing. Side dishes, main dishes, desserts or whatever. Some paper forks, plastic plates, and napkins would also be useful. But mostly bring your own fun self. If you burn easily, sunscreen is advisable. The tall ships thing is goign on in boston, so traffin in boston proper is likely to be lousy. HOW: MBTA: Take the Red Line (Ashmont branch) to Fields Corner. The #20 bus route passes by two of the park's entrances: at Neponset Circle and at Hallet Street. By Car: Take US-1 South to exit 12, Rt 3A South and merge onto Gallivan Boulevard (MA 203). CT Diner Meet, Friday July 10
Due to the July 4 holiday and conflict with Anthrocon, this month's meet is delayed one week.Friday July 10, 2009 7:00 pm - 10:00 pm and later This event repeats on the first Friday of every month. This is our regular first-Friday CT Diner run to the Town Line Diner in central CT. People tend to show up around 7pm and stay until 10 pm and later. Sometimes much later. Look for the tables in the back full of people with ears and tails. --from Southbound I-91 take a Left at the end of the ramp. --from Northbound I-91 bear Right off the ramp. -go Left at the light for Town Line Road (the first left that isn't a highway entrance ramp) -pass a plaza entrance on the Left. -take a Left into the next plaza -The Town Line Diner will be the first left after entering the plaza. | | Wednesday, June 24th, 2009 | 7:05 pm

Final Reminder-Beardsley Zoo Meet This Saturday 6/27/2009
Final reminder: There will be a zoo meet this Sat 6/27 @ 12:30pm at the Beardsley Zoo in Bridgeport, CT. We will be doing some other stuff after the zoo (Dinner, hanging out, maybe a movie or bowling). All are welcome to attend. If you planning to attend please drop me a private email. New to the group
Hi there! I am Alastrine and I came across this group and I am greatly curious! I didn't know this place existed. Anyways I am a IRL female hehe. I am near the seacoast and I am looking for other NH furs to hang out with and get to know. I don't have a fursuit but I do have a tail a friend made me a very long time ago :D . I am mostly a furtopian fur but recently I have been having issues with the site so I just made a new ID on here and also I am keeping my eye on a old friend or at least trying to. 2010 New York Convention?
heyla all ^_^ i live in the capital region of new york, and sadly there arent any cons nearby D: so... i was wondering if anyone would be interested in helping me set up a con in 2010, specifically to fill this large gap in the northeast! Anthrocon used to be in albany... i dont know if we should try starting another one here, or farther north/west or what... but i was hoping that the furs on here could help me out. Looking for someone!
Hey y'all! I'm going to make this short. I took a sketchbook commission from a guy named Esham Fox at FurFright 2007. Since then, I haven't been able to get in touch with him. I have his email, but the few I've sent haven't been returned. Hiya everyone! I'm a grey wolf cub, New York native moving to Waltham Massachusetts to attend college and I'm looking to meet some friends. I'm hoping to attend Fur Fright this year as my first con but I'm ascared of going alone so I want to make some friends and possibly find someone to go with. I'm interested and going to college for photography. I'm a volunteer firefighter, I enjoy hiking, video games, reading, writing, and browsing the web. Welcome
Note: This is a community for the announcement of events taking place within the north-east. The community is moderated and old posting of events will be deleted after they have taken place, in order to keep the amount of clutter to a minimum. The hope is to permit the first page of the community to contain only active or upcoming events so it is easy for folks to find events they might like to attend. The Idea for a North-East community came from the fact that although there are a number of state communities, there really hasn’t been a community for folks to cross communicate with. After all, some folks from Vermont may be interested in attending an event in New Hampshire, or similar. This will provide a source of information to those who may be interested in attending events in a state other then their own. It seems many furs out there who live within miles of each other generally don't know the other exists. I have had a number of folks say “there aren't any furs in my area” only to have twenty or more furs instantly jump up and announce that they do in fact exist. this fact has been painfully clear to me ever sense I lived in Arkansas and heard stories from the NARFA folks about traveling to cons hundreds of miles away and meeting folks who live only a few miles from them. I feel if the existence of this group helps even a small number of Furs meet offline, then it has served its purpose.
