PaganFest USA - Raleigh

Hello all! I'd forgotten all about this community until today.

For those of you that are into European folk metal bands such as Finntroll and Korpiklaani, the PaganFest USA tour is coming to the Volume 11 Tavern in Raleigh on May 20.

www.myspace.com/paganfestusa
www.volume11tavern.com

Also, my roommate and I are looking for people in Eastern NC with musical tastes more aligned with our own who would like to travel to shows with us. We often travel to Charlotte, NC and Springfield, VA to see bands we like, as the local venue seems to be more interested in booking lame metalcore, emo, and radio rock bands. Our tastes run the gamut but our primary interest is *good* metal bands. Our next planned adventure is to go to Tremont in Charlotte to see Nile on April 3. I also maintain a forum centered around female-fronted metal bands such as Nightwish, Within Temptation, and Epica: Far Beyond Vanity.

I was visiting my mom in G'boro and we went Thursday to NSC&Z. Haven't been there in oh, almost 20 years. :( Two months ago they had their Grand reopening and boy, what a change. No Lions, just Tigers and the Bears at the moment are two big stuffed Grizzlies in the main Foyer. :) They are planning to bring Black Bears from the mountains in next year, I believe.

Took photos. Some not as good as others. The three Macaws that should be outside enjoying the sunlight live in a big room near the back of the main building. They were having a blast showing off for me while I took photos. The lighting in their room was poor so I had to use the flash which reflected off the glass, but you can still see them.

http://www2.snapfish.com/thumbnailshare/AlbumID=163272622/a=94614772_94614772/t_=94614772

Late Wednesday night/early Thursday morning there was vandalism at the parking lot entrance on Lawndale Drive.
Sadly this place was locked up. I couldn't find a single gate that was open to let us up close to them. I couldn't really get any good pics because of the suns position and the distance we were from them. I'll share what I did get though. Also, I took some great shots of old country homes, country stores and tobacco barns. I love the shots of the tobacco barns.

I took this while walking back from down the road where I took a pic of an old rusty Pepsi sign.

It was really hard to get a clear shot of anything.

I love this shot. I just wish that the sun wasn't shining off of the left side of the duck.

Another close-up. I may give this guy a call and find out when exactly he'll be open. I would love to venture back and get some more close-up shots.

This was taken at a different location, but I believe the same guy made all of these.

It was pretty cool watching all of those fans spin.

Images taken with Sony Cybershot DSC-H2, set at 6 megapixels and on auto-focus.

We have already been to most of the museums, parks and other places like Jumping Beans, Chuck E Cheese's and Playspace. We want to take the children some where they haven't been before. Any suggestions are appreciated.

But she barely gets along with my other female, who is a Boxer.
Her name is Paris, she 8mths old and she just needs more attention and I recently got a job and im barely home.. and needs to be with someone that doesn't have other big dogs.. she did well with my male boxer who is 70lbs, but when she got near my female boxer who is 65 she doesn't do well she just shows her teeth .. She is truely a great dog, she's never bite anyone or anything..I just never though it would a hard job with her. She is great with cats and kittens
--
She is UTD she half house broken, she will go outside but she like to take her time she needs to be out there for awhile.. but when she gets mad that your not giving her attention she will go in the house.
--
I payed good money for her and would like to sell her for about the same
---
I would like $850.00 but if not then $650.00
--
I am located in Richlands, NC and if you live kind of far from me and you would really like her I could meet half way, depending on how far..but yea.. i could try
--
Please Im not trying to start any drama or anything , but i would like if i didn't get any mean comments because Im just trying to find her a good home. Its just really hard for me to take care of a small dog right now.
==
also.. she's never really been around children so im not sure how she is on that... but i have brought her into PetSmart and she is good with other people.
==

The Yadkin County Humane Society does not have a shelter. Members foster animals in their homes. One of our fosterers has been transferred to Wilmington for her job. She had to transfer or lose her position. None of our other fosterers has room for any of the four dogs she was taking care of. Needless to say, we're in a situation where we have to find alternate foster care or good homes for these dogs IMMEDIATELY. Please share this with anyone who may be able to assist, either by fostering or adopting, or if you work with a rescue organization who can help provide care. Anyone who is interested in helping these animals can leave a comment here or email yadkinhumane@gmail.com. Here are the foster dogs' information. You can see pictures of these dogs and read their bios at our Petfinder site by clicking on a particular dog's name.

Jack
Jack is a dalmation mix, approximately two years old who was abandoned. His foster mom took me in and he's been with her for a while now. He's been neutered and he's up-to-date on my shots. He's heartworm negative and take monthly preventative. He has LOTS of energy and would love to have wide-open space to run (a farm would be ideal for him), and little boys to play with. He is most happy getting in the creek and playing in the woods. Since no one ever really gave him any attention or trained him before he came into foster care, he needs work on his leash and obedience skills, but he has sponsers who are willing to help with the cost of his adoption fee for the right family. He needs someone who is willing to give him a chance - please don't pass him by!

Honey
She's a really gentle, sweet girl so this name really does fit her :) She is a German Shepherd mix and she's on the small side for her breed. She's almost three years old and has been in foster care for several months now. She's spayed, current on her shots, heartworm negative, and she's taking monthly heartworm preventative. The family who surrendered her could not afford to take care of her pal Oreo (also in foster care) and her properly. She is a little shy at first around new people because she wasn't socialized much in her old home, but she's really blossomed thanks to the love given her in foster care. She was in a home with children and would be fine with kids. She's learning to walk on a leash and basic obedience. She loves to run and play, but unless you have a lot of acreage she needs a fenced in yard. Can you open your heart and home to her? Look into her beautiful eyes and give her a forever home - she's waiting for you!

Oreo
He's a two-year-old lab mix who was surrendered to the Humane Society with his best friend Honey (also in foster care) because their family couldn't afford to take care of them properly. He's neutered, current on his shots, heartworm negative, and taking monthly heartworm preventative. He was not inside much in his old home and he's not housebroken yet. He is a very friendly, loving boy who gets along with everyone, two and four legged. His tail is always wagging - as evidenced by his pictures. He's learning to walk on a leash and basic obedience. He would love to have a family of his own and kids to play with - is there room in your home for him?

Jock (no picture yet)
Jock is a Border Collie/Aussie Shepherd mix. He is a year old, all his shots are up to date and he has been altered. He's heartworm negative and takes monthly preventative. He is very active and needs a fenced yard or big farm to live on where he can run. He gets along with other dogs and does not bother the cat. He's working on his house training. He's doing a lot better with it, but he'd rather be outside. He is leash trained and comes when he's called. He is a very smart boy and learns very fast. He loves everyone and has a good attitude.
