I'm 21 year old girl from Finland and sutdying to be a nurse/public health nurse. I'm thinking about Northampton university as one of my exchange student places for next fall 2008. Is it worth it? the place? :D

What is the place like? what's good and everything?

I still have a bunch of things to unpack, but really, it didn't take that long... especially compared to how long it felt it took to move in to William Carey in the first place @_o

Hiya everyone - I used to work as Programme Administrator of Distance Learning in the Engineering Department during my gap year before moving to New Zealand and becoming a student myself at Auckland University (shameless plug http://www.auckland.ac.nz ).

If you have any questions regarding the (now) University of Northampton, the best people to speak to at avenue campus and whta not and perhaps proceedure then I'll try my best to help you out as my knowledge should still be somewhat up to date (I left in January 2005).

Friend on your course went home not realising you needed books and she doesn't have any of them either = teh win

wow, i actually come back to livejournal to check out my favourite community (cough jrock_scans cough x.x) and find this little community! amazing! i'm janine, i'm a fresher at UCN, doing a diploma in adult nursing. i live in simon senlis (park campus), but i go home to corby at the weekends. hi guys. i don't really update my livejournal, i use my greatestjournal more, but that's friends only. yeaaah that's basically it. just wanted to say hi. so. It's been quiet here ;-; has anybody else managed to find any new members? I keep telling my flatmates and people I talk to on courses etc about Livejournal but most haven't heard of it or don't even go on the internet that much, so I haven't had much success there ^^;;... I've had the URL for the community written up on my flat whiteboard since I made it, nobody's rubbed it off yet, but I don't think any of the people who've seen it have gone to it either... aaa, I fail at promoting communities.

In other news, I really really love my friday Creative Writing seminar. It is actually my best class at the moment.

Well I'm Emily, I'm 18, and i live in kettering at home at the moment. I travel in my car to northampton uni since i just passed my driving tesy *yay!* I'm studying primary education so im mostly over in sulgrave. im a first year as well, and have heard all about this 'fuck a fresher' thing too, which is quite amusing for the naive freshers amongst us. so if any of you guys who live in halls want a homecooked meal just ask me! i love neighbours, final fantasy games, anime art, music (esp. killers, muse, bloc party - stuff like that) and coffee! and here's a picture of me in case you recognise me and want to say hi!

Paying at Union Bar

Can anyone give me a reason as to why we have to pay for certain events at the Union Bar? I can't see the logic.. it doesn't make sense.. they all say about how cheap things will be once we get to uni, drinks n all, but I can't see how it is cheap if we have to pay such prices just to go for a drink at our Union on an event night? I'm not sure if this continues after the Freshers fortnight, but if it does I think I might have to say something to the union. I don't think it is fair..

Plus, the drinks aren't that cheap! All that stuff about cheap drinks at unis is obviously exaggerated!

I've barely been to the union bar since I've been here, because personally, I don't like it! The music is bad, it seems typically British and I hate the smokey atmosphere.. plus on certain nights, you were forced to pay

However, being the closest to my flat, it is a convenient place to go for a drink with flatmates.. Also, in light of the recent rape cases in Northampton, I think it's the safest place to go! So yeah, I'll go there.. and if I'm that desperate to go for a drink, I will go to the union..
But Pat Sharpe from fun house does not justify the £12 (or so) entry fees!

Does anyone else agree? Or am I just being petty? Be honest, I will not take offense :)

Ah, hi. I'm Tabitha, and I created the community~~... hi. I'm in my first year at the moment, I'm taking english and philosophy... I live on-campus, I'm over at William Carey ^^ but I don't yet have the internet in my room and the IT helpdesk won't be open until tomorrow so I can't bug them about why exactly I'm not online yet until then ><... until then, I'm hanging around the Grendon IT rooms a lot :P (that's where I am at the moment)...

I tend to have weird interests x_X but I'm hoping that, maybe, at some point, I might meet other people who actually know about anime and manga and yaoi and stuff like that rather than just being like "*blank stare* Oh... I knew someone who was into that at my old school..." or whatever.

Where are all the anime fans? ;-;

(More to the point, where is my internet? XO)

Um, anyway. Yes. Hopefully we'll get some more people joining? ^^
