The Atheist and Agnostic Feminist Forum

About:

This community exists to examine atheism or agnosticism from a feminist lens and to examine feminism from an atheist or agnostic lens.

By "atheist," we mean "the belief that there is no god or other supernatural being."
By "agnostic," we mean "the belief that there may or may not be a god or other supernatural being."
By "feminism," we mean "the belief that men and women should be given equal opportunities in all spheres."

Please keep discussions on-topic.

By "on-topic," we mean "please limit your discussions to issues affecting feminism and/or atheism/agnosticism." For example, religion in politics, religious arguments against feminism, sexism in atheist spaces, prominent atheists/agnostics or gender and religion. This list is not all-encompassing, but this should give you a good idea of what is cool and what isn't.

The Non-Religious Feminism Forum's Official Party Line:

This community will be used to discuss a variety of subjects that may make some members in privileged groups very uncomfortable. Please realize that saying "male privilege sucks" does not mean "MEN SUCK AND I HATE THEM AND HOPE THEY ALL DIE!!! LOLLERS!" Same goes for white privilege or religious privilege.

Also, on privilege, we know that just because you might be white, Christian and middle-class, you might also be a lesbian. The facts that you are female and gay do not negate your white, Christian or class privilege. Rather, this example helps show how nuanced the idea of privilege is. There are few people who fit into the mold of completely privileged individuals and many people who fit into multiple oppressed groups who still hold one or two forms of privilege.
